Also whilst on our break,
I took Cades book of music  along for us.  Monday evening I ran through my standards in the "RED" book and then sunday I wanted to learn some new stuff.  I started 3 songs. and each one I was being told,, too fast, not the right rhythm, there is an extra beat in there.  BY BOTH boys.

I first was getting annoyed and  defensive.  then I took a deep breath and opened my ears and my head to what they were saying.  and I asked them "Ok, Show me because I am not hearing the difference".  I cant beleive my wife didnt secretly film me and them.  but it was actually very fun and productive.  The two main songs we worked were In this river by Black Label society, simple 3 chorder but not a pattern Im used to. (I was also told i play every song the same way... which I thought I had worked hard to not do lately)  So they helped me on that.

Second was Through Glass by Stone Sour.  It was here I was adding a strum I didnt need to, but when I sang i messed it up. so ill be needing a singer for that one.
and then Snuff by Slipknot. its really beautiful song if no one knows it.here are 2 versions
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioyNa3EdEVk
and all acoustic  with jim root https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FMsYQCzQdE

then i was trying Lightning Crashes but was having trouble with the changes in the right place.

It was fun and good bonding with teh kids so remember learn from your kids every day! LOL smile

Greetings.

This is spring brake for the kids (and wife) this week.  We spend 3 days in the Olympic national forest at a place called the Kalaloch lodge, we had a cabin (glamping sorta LOL).  Monday the sun was nice enough to come out for us. Tuesday, not so much, but we didnt let that stop the fun.  I posted a lot on FB, but will add some downsized shots here.  We went to the rock outcroppings with teh tidal pools and me and the boys had a blast. It was raining the whole time and we didn't care.  Yours truely was stepping from one set of rocks to the next and promptly slipped and went right leg in the water and a lot of the left LOl but I made it. (we were a bit surprised how quick the tide seemed to cover up teh path we took) but it was all fun and no hurts to report.  My boys were all smiles, unless I wanted pictures with them! LOL  they just wouldn't smile! LOL.  SO if you have FB check out the file inmy photo section Ijust uploaded along with the vids.  and ill post a few here tomorrow. its 730pm and I am the only one who has to get up early tomorrow! sad

Welcome! as others have said, its a great place to be.    NO CT here but I have a fear it might not be long off.  Great to have a new member to the forum.

Cheers! Scott. AKA THE METALIZER LOLOL

THANK YOU ALL.
tigljk,  No uke, unless you count the toy one my whife has on a bookshelf.  I dont want to learn new chords, do they make a 6 string uke?  NO one knows how to play the banjo, but the wife keeps saying she will learn it.  I dont even know how to tune one.  I lost the battle for the guitjo. which I still just should have gotten.
im no vid guy like Russel, no one man band stuff from me.but maybe a family band with Cory on drums and Cade on bass,, I think I have him leaning towards playing one.

FINALLY !  I had to change strings and i polished it and gave the frets a good metal polishing also.  I think I may have wacked the intonation a bit, so since I am terrible at that,, gotta get it checked.

As far as heat in your shop, have you concidered one of these?   https://www.amazon.com/Mr-Heater-F27486 … ddy+heater

As I have discovered, 2 pounds of gas on HIGH will last about 4 or 5 hours, on low to med, about 16 ish +/-  I am also using it ni a bigger space (my basement) so it should be ideal for a workshop.   I bought the 12" hose for a 20 pound canister, need to drill the hole in my wall for the hose since you should not have the canister in the house.  The fan is nice but its not really very much force.

Just a thought Beamer, those heaters are un-vented and all the combustion byproducts wind up in the environment with you.... mostly Carbon Dioxide and Water Vapor, and at the same time consumes something you need Oxygen !! You should allow something like 6 square inches of fresh air for each 1000BTU which is a lot like leaving a window open and then trying to heat up the space! If you are planning on "drilling" that hole, you should take a look at NFPA 58 & 59. the National Gas Codes which I will almost wager will require you to chain your bottle to the house outside (on a stable platform like concrete), penetrate the wall with "Black Iron" (not galvanized) pipe and have a manual shutoff between the "hard line" and the "flex".  Following the rules ensures that should there be a tragedy, your Insurance Company might not "bail on you" for spite.

But then again, my Installation and Fitter's License is "inactive" since I retired and the codes do get updated.....  check your local Library.  wink

Doug, thanks for the warning. this is not a hard line.  the heater has a O2 depletion alarm, and the hole is just to run the hose through. as for fresh air, I am pretty sure there is enough of a draft in that basement to keep oxygen in there smile  We dont leave it on unattended.  its like the old gas heaters grandma used to have.   but Ill keep watch and Ill secure the bottle.

just decided, gonna replace some pots.   As the man GFS tech says : " The  Lil Killer is a 15k humbucker compared to a 6.5k single coil so it will blow the Brighton's away. I would suggest 500k pots with the Lil Killers definitely!"  So I am upgrading the pots on both Strats since Bettie has a pretty powerful humbucker and I have noticed some of the same noise at mid volumes.  at 4 bucks each, I think I can handle it smile

I had the briliant idea after 11 yrs , to debadge my old Berhinger amp, and RE-Badge it with the original tank badges from my 2005 Triumph.  I put retro badges on it and have had these sitting around ever since.  I think it looks pretty good!  What do you guys think? I also spent some time making the 2 channels very different. channel 1 (primary as the clean channel) is British amp (IE Marshall or Laney ) with clean tone mode and a US  type voicing on the speaker  channel 2 (Hi gain mode) is Califiornia (IE: Krank or Mesa/Boogie) with the HOT speaker mode and US speaker voicing.  Ill do a sound bite Sunday for ya smile

WHOOO HOOOOOO  I THINK I NAILD THE PROBLEM!  Its the volume pot!  I just plugged in the guitar, and it was fine, played some, and it sounded like it was starting up, and I tweaked the volume knob,,,, and it went away!  GFS here I come.  Russ Not sure if that set up you have is gonna fit myu budget for this guitar.  I have it now where parts and labor are more than it was ever worth (My son only paid like 100 bucks for it! (LOL)

I have a few ukuleles and most need some set up, I was very pleased, this instrument had no issues, no sharp frets, strings not up to high, and it's put together very well. Think it's a laminated body, or I would have given it 5 stars,, Dimebag Darrell would be proud of this little beauty

I do believe that Jan  might have misinterpreted our joking around about MV  as I do not think anyone in here will be doing anything by them.

I think Ill be getting my son to play  on "Wish you were here" with me as he can do all the little lead  tidbits.  He played it  in Feb on our skype for everyone.  He just wont sing LOL.
