TIGLJK,  great song you have written once again, your writing skills always amaze me, a great gift you have there.  I hope we get someone to cover this one, it is thought provoking, contemplative.  I look forward to hearing this one covered.

I hope it is ok to put another song up this month. Easy beat Brian asked me to put this song up I composed called The Man At The Bar.

Peatle, you can post as many as you like each month, no restrictions smile  I like the lyrics in this one, very contemplative, reflection, thoughtful.  Is that your good lady on piano?

Excellent Grah1, really enjoyed how you performed this song of Brians.  You have done Brian proud smile

zurf, for someone who has only played that song 3 or 4 times, your guitar playing on that was great.  I was intently listening to the guitar in particular as I liked the way you played it, the strumming and picking style.  Did I detect a nice little tap effect on the guitar as well?  Nicely done, makes me want to get my guitar out and dust it off again.   This is a song we used to play regularly at my first ukulele group I ever joined.

Jan that is a tough song to cover and you nailed it vocally and musically.

Thanks Peatle, I appreciate you listening and comments smile    I did hit a couple of bum notes in that song but considering it was a rush to record it as it was so late, I wasn't going to muck around and keep re-recording it.  It was quite a fun song to cover smile

easybeat, well if you don't know about your guitar skills the rest of us do, we can certainly hear it smile  I wish I could play like you and others on here.  Great thanks for posting the lyrics and it wasn't anything to do with poor singing, it was just a bit quieter in places so I couldn't hear the lyrics (probably my hearing lol)

Hey everyone, when you get a chance, I posted a rushed song last night for last months FSOTM for April, so when you get the time, have a listen.  As in the words of zurf, my apologies in advance to Elton John.

This   is  a song I put together called Ghost Phone Call. I wrote the lyrics around midnight at Easter when I was thinking about what to do on chordie  for this May. The song is a man reflecting in his head on a unexpected phone call from a lady that morning who he had been told had died. I tried to write it in a way that the listener can put all sorts of back stories to what had happened in this man and woman’s previous relationship. Also I wanted to create a sense of confusion and a haunted wondering the man has as to why this woman had decided to phone him  twenty years later after shooting through on him.

Peatle, it was a truely hauntlng song, you created that well.  I liked the way you had put it all together, I could hear the reflection in the tone and lyrics, well done.  I liked the echo/reverb too, it added to it smile

Thanks Brian, its good to see so many joining in isn't it, I hope more will join in too and have a bit of fun with us all cause that's what its about, fun smile  Also I love that some people do covers, some do originals, its great to see and hear smile

easybeat, that guitar of yours does all the talking I am sure of it!  You should be in a band and playing your heart out!  Like I always say, your guitar skills are awesome, I wish I could do what you seem to do so easily!.  I would love to see the lyrics to this song as I couldn't quite hear all of the lyrics when you sang as your vocals at times were a bit quiet and I couldn't quite hear all the lyrics. Also you earn brownie points for being the first up!  Love it, awesome easybeat, if you find the time, please post the lyrics, what I could hear was great smile

Ok here is my LATE  and RUSHED entry for this months song with the word WORLD in it . https://soundcloud.com/ukulelejan/your-song

Hey everyone, for this JUNE, looking for SUGGESTIONS for SONGS with any day of the week in it.   So, MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY and or course SUNDAY, you pick!   Any day or more than one day, cover as many days as you want!

Also looking for SUGGESTIONS of SONGS with NUMBERS in it, so pick any SONG that has a NUMBER in it.

Once again, you can do COVERS, or you can do an ORIGINAL.

NOTE:  If you decide to do an ORIGINAL, feel free to post the lyrics and chords in with your SUGGESTION if you want too and if you would like others to attempt it.

READY!  SET!  GO!

Wow MAY already!

This month of MAY looking for SONGS with the words GHOST or GHOSTS in the song.  The idea came when Chordie member beamer mentioned that word GHOST in a Chatroom conversation.
Also looking for songs with the words WOMAN or MAN in the song.

It can be an ORIGINAL or a COVER of a song.  You decide what you would like to do.

Some SUGGESTIONS made were the following:

Another Ghost – original written by Chordie member jets60.

Ghost Train – original written by Chordie member Richard Mortimer aka Neophytte and Neon Ceiling.
NOTE  both of these original songs by jets60 and neophytte can be found in the Suggestions for May topic.

But remember you can cover ANY song and ANY original you want including your own with the words GHOST, GHOSTS, WOMAN or MAN

READY!   SET!   GO!

Oh that was great zurf, I thoroughly enjoyed it.   I was singing along with you and tapping my foot.  You covered that song so well, no apologies needed to Cat Stevens at all.  Loved the visual too, it was great to see you in action and it was neat to hear about the guitar as well.  Loved it smile

Roger I enjoyed listening to that one.  I haven't actually heard of the song before you covered it, so a new song to me.  I will try to find time to listen to the original at some stage but from just hearing your version, you did it well.

I added a video for "All's not fair", which is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d-Plzd5RIs

It wasn't as successful as I would have liked; getting the video to match the guitar parts was hard (and having my 7yo doing the videoing was possibly not the best move), but I've put it up, warts and all ....

Cheers

Richard

Nice to watch visually in the woods neophytte, your son did well to put that together together for you at age 7 years!  Not sure what sound effects you had on with the vocals but it reminded me of the David Bowie era on some of his songs where he had a similar kind of effect on his vocals.  Well done.

I had a listen to this the other night but didn't get a chance to comment on it neophytte.  I was very impressed with the guitar playing as well, you were showing up skills there.  Looks like you and your mates were having a blast together.

Yep seems to be a problem world wide doesn't it.  People can look to Russia to blame but USA`s own Biden shut down their own keystone pipeline and this Govt in NZ are not only closing Marsden Point refinery but going to fill them with cement.  What a crazy crazy world we live in.

That was awesome!  They are great singing together, they nailed it.  Are they the same couple that you have used before on your songs?  Once again TIGLJK you have out done yourself with your song writing.  Lovely to see you back on Chordie smile

All good neophytte.  I will try and ATTEMPT (in capitals cause it will be an attempt) of one of your songs BUT not promising I can do it, your style I think is out of my ability, so don't hold your breath that I will actually present what I try to do big_smile

thanks for taking the time to comment.yeah monotone is what i do best.
A few years ago i had never sung,Jan encouraged me,its still not real singing, but i like to think
it is real and sincere.I like writing but dont like trying to sing and play.

No worries - I think everyone has a unique voice; it's just working out what songs suit your voice ... I couldn't imagine you (or me!) doing a Mariah Carey song, for example, but Louis Armstrong type version of What a wonderful world could be done ...

Cheers

Richard

easybeat, vocally, you really, really suit country in my humble opinion.  I think you have the perfect voice for it.   Guitar wise, you can play pretty much anything and are great at it, you own that guitar, seriously!

Jandal you did easybeat's song real good those seven years have gone quick.

In reply to your question about about my video . The first one I put up I inadvertently  used the same song title as easybeats  submission for this month so I had to change the text at the beginning.  Because of that I had two copies on file and ended up putting up the wrong one up with  the wrong title in my rush to get it on youtube and chordie.. It is same video apart from the text  as the first one and also in my rush somehow I had edited out part of the song on the first one I put up so a few lines of the song had got left. out .   Thank you Jandal for taking the time  to have a good listen and watch.  I try to make each song as different as pos though my poor playing and vocal skills can make my efforts not always a great listen.

Thankyou Peatle, it is still a song I like today.  There are certain original songs I have done for some of you here on Chordie and that is one of them that I still like and still sing and play occasionally.  Yes, you heard or read me correctly, I do actually get those certain songs out from time to time, dust them off and play them smile
