I listened during lunch at work.  With the acoustic versions (my own included), it seems like it's really hard to keep things moving steadily while including the lyrics for both the pipe and the paint. Your punk, electric version overcomes that, I think, and so in my opinion is a better treatment of the song.  Keep up the good work.

What could possibly go wrong?

Goodness gracious Graham. I must have missed that thread, or forgotten it.  I'm sorry to learn (or be reminded) of your throat problems.  I hope you get that squared away.

Didn't Vince Gill do the original flat picking solos with Pure Prairie League?

Also, I didn't say Country Roads had a lot of votes.  I said I kind of know how to play it, and so unless and until something else was picked, I was going to go with it. :-)

Well it's the fifth.  I'm going with Amie and Country Road (not sure if this is meant to be John Denver's Take Me Home Country Roads or James Taylor's Country Road - so I'll try both) until told otherwise.

Amie because it got the most votes, and the Country Roads songs because I already know the James Taylor version pretty well and worked on the John Denver a while back and have half a chance at it.

If "the hat" disagrees with me, I will abide by decisions of "the hat."

Thanks JP.  It is still available.  Send me an e-mail at (deleted) with your address.

I like how you Mutated the guitar solo.  That was a good straight-up cover, but you still brought some of the Mutant King to it with the solo, which is always what I like seeing.

Get well and do what you want. If you want to make changes, do it. You don't need anyone's permission. More power to you.

Bummer. With all the recent cancellations, it seems Zurf may be the only true chordian traveling to the event this year. It will still be a great party with plenty of local friends, put perhaps "chordiestock" has run it's course.

If I'm representing - I will need to increase the volume of my caterwauling. The table by the porch door will help in this endeavor.

I am cursed. Week long work trip in Vegas those days now. sad I might need to come to one of the other jams; this week of the year something always seems to come up.

That bites.  I was looking forward to meeting you in person.

Guy Clark has been dominating my music selections for a while.  I've been trying, rather poorly, to learn slide guitar in open D tuning so that I can get the intro to his "Bag of Bones" better.  It's not working out, but I'll keep at it.

Man, I so want to win the lottery so I can give you a ton of money for that Foothills organization.

If you know some of the musicians in your area who would like to preserve your local arts and music as well as do some things to help the community, you should be able to start a similar group in your area.  Correctly filling out all the required paperwork for a non-profit organization, establishing by-laws, and getting folks to agree to hold an office is the hard part when you first start.

I've been living in this house for 22 years, and almost everyone I know around here I met on-line.  It's very difficult to get to know anyone here.  At least for me.  Sawyer seems to have done a better job of it.

Ha ha ha.  That was great!  A straight up version, then rocking it out.  Cool beans.

Sounds like a fun road trip. Have fun and stay safe.

I like the action and sound of Ovations.  However, the round back and my round front create some unusual rotational possibilities which limit my enjoyment of playing them.  Everything Ovation has made has been top notch.  If it works for you, get it.

Cool beans!  Do you introduce yourself as King of the Mutants, and then show them how you can make that guitar submit to your own will in defiance of the laws of physics and anatomy?

My sister is a freelance artist who has gained some notoriety.  She has to Google herself pretty regularly to see whether anyone is selling her work as posters or postcards or what-not without her permission, or whether anyone is selling work under her name when it isn't hers.  There are a surprising number of hits in both cases.  She's spent thirty years building a following and establishing her name.  Why should people be able to swoop in at the end and with no effort or investment take advantage of her hard work?  Well, they shouldn't.  Intellectual property laws protect her from those vultures.

Step back. Take a deep breath.

The same thing holds true for musicians.

That's great!

Well I already do a version of James Taylor's "Country Roads", so if anyone wants to hear it, I'll gin up a recording.  I've been working on the intro to Amie forever, and just not getting it.  So, I'll keep working.  Topdawgz will have to get the in-song solo.  The intro is as much as I'm taking on.  :-)

I've been wanting to learn "Pink Houses" or "Small Town" by John Cougar Mellencamp forever.  So, since Small Town is on the list, that's my vote.  My neighbor has started to learn Brown Eyed Girl, and I have the bass tabs around here somewhere.  We may be able to work out a duo, though I'd have to figure out how to use my mixer (which could be a problem).  It'd be fun to have an excuse to try and get that together in a real honest-to-goodness(y) band-like fashion, so that's my second vote.

Vote 1: Small Town
Vote 2: Brown Eyed Girl

That's great!  I've got a Breedlove 6 string, and like it well.  I hope you get as much enjoyment out of your 12'er.
