Comments left on both songs on SC.  BGD would love to hear your take on Mother.

I noodled with it some but failed to get it to a place I was happy with.   Hopefully once work settles down in mid march I'll be able to take another crack.

Sweet thanks

Ok, I have talked about the mods  I did to my sons AXL Strat a few months ago.  Well it tested good at the shop.  We just found out recently that when we plug it in at home,  it has a loud humm. not so bad in first position for the bucker, but as it goes up the selector it gets really bad.  and I know strats and singles have hums,, but not like this! Yet taking it back to the shop,  it did not do it again.   I had them replace the jack and look for loose grounds. Check,  get it home and same thing!  I know its a ground issue because if you touch the jack plate, it grounds and goes away!   It is all in the guitar because I plug it in same cord and amp my guitars are in with no problem.

Any suggestions for a secondary ground? or should I take it to a different shop?  This same guy worked and modded Bettie with no problems, and fixed my sons acoustic also.  I need to make a quick vid of what is going on for him I guess.  I hate going somewhere else, but I may have too.

Thanks guys.

Even though the month isn't even 1/2 way through, I declare BGD and Zurf the winners. I guarantee nobody had or will have as much fun playing these tunes as these two did. Please pick a good SOTM for March - perhaps we can record a chordiestock collaboration!

Jeff lets hear you on some stuff ya been kinda quiet lately.

No. I didn't pick up on that.

Well,  ------------!  I spent a lot of time finding the soundbites and clipping them down, hoping to add a twist to the song.   LOL Well ok since no one seems to have noticed,  I guess it was not called for, or no one listens that far.

Awesome, I miss my buddy

Well I did put a post in my local band, so if ya want you can check that out, (TOTALLY UNRELATED

Last night i stumbled upon a old VH-1 remaking episode I had not seen in years, It  was the Vince Neil  one, and that led me back down the rabbit hole. I was then led to the DVD extra disk for the  carnival of Sins  tour, and from there....

one of the final shows from the Scorpions.  I know not many of you guys got into metal, but that band has just as many ballads as they do rockers.  I was amazed,  Klaus Meine can still put the notes out, Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs running around like they are still 19 or 20 . It was a really good show.  I hope I can run around like that at 60+ yrs of age!

During one of my 2 most favorite ballads (Holiday) I grabbed the TAK and tried to remember how to play it, well I didn't remember, however I fell into a riff, and started singing what came to me that felt right.  I wont talk about it until it has more than the 3 lines I kept repeating waiting for the next.   the first 3 just fell out of my mouth, and not want I was even expecting to sing.    So ill see if it develops. its  a nice riff though LOL

CHEERS!
scott.

He has had issues with ppl, and he takes things pretty literally.  I know I may have shocked him a bit, when he asked us did we have any other writing projects than songs, I sent him one I have been working for a while.  Some of the stuff he read blew his mind, I think,  and his tone changed a bit in our emails.   I also know he has had some personal stuff going on aside form the health.

Ok. I just gotta be forthright, cause no one has said anything about it,  Did anyone feel my heart beat and flatline effect added a twist to the perception of the song? Because at first you think your hearing about a survivor then we learn she lost the battle.

If you can play a major scale, you already know all seven modal scales as well.

While this is technically true, knowing how to play them and knowing how to use them are very different things, agree? I can play locrian up and down the fretboard.  Using it in a musical way? No idea.

That is true of all things, though.  No point having the most awesome set of tools in the universe if you're the worst carpenter in the world.

Well heck by that logic Jerome, I shouldnt have but one guitar either, but lets not forget the FUN  of it to.

much prefer the acoustic version,it`s got everything going for it.

Thanks, though I know the heavy one can be better, I tried to do it to a drum loop at 110 BPM but kept getting lost either vocally or rhythmically. and said  to heck with it.  I do better with a live drummer who can judge my pace and then we lock in and i then can listen to him.

That acoustic was done just sitting at the desk and phone right in front of me

I will withdraw my vote for Rip it out and throw this one in with Cherry Bomb.

IN CASE YOU MISSED MY EARLIER VOTE, CHERRY BOMB, AND RIP IT OUT.

I just made two attempts to record my own song,,,, i had to stop, after hearing everyone else take it to places I cant seem to reach its very difficult to get done.  the bar is set and I must rise to meet it as best I can.  and trying to record while not playing and singing out just is not cutting it.  (This is when I wish I had a producer to get the best out of me and to know how to record the tracks!)

I played Graham's song on Skype for the guys.  I'll have to try to record it yet.  Maybe I can find a little quiet time here in the next day or so.  wink  Everyone seemed to really like it a lot (and it IS a darn good song)!  Scott's song is messing with me, but I will somehow manage to get that one out too.  Anyone else trying these?  Hold me to it guys, I haven't recorded anything in what feels like FOREVER.

AMY RECORD MY SONG! Everyone else does it so much better than me!  ( This is me holding you to it)

Edit to add: Drums and bass courtesy of Band in a Box; Nashville tuned and 12er guitars and the vocals are mine. smile

OK did not see your note at the bottom of this and in SC I asked if that was band in a box lol.
I am floored at how well everyone else does this song!  It almost makes me hesitant  to do my version! but I will, its hard timing being home at midnight and not wanting to wake everyone.
