Y'all don't need to be nice to me. I know both renditions stink, but I feel glad to have been the first to present versions. If I can't be good, I may as well be fast.

And here is my take on Mother (A Punks Ballad).
I've heard Scott do this one, but I still had a very difficult time with the changing meter and the changing rhyme scheme. It's a bit Dylanny in that regard with a dark topic, rich inner life, and variable song elements.

Grahams song - I say in the recording that after posting I'll listen to other people's versions, but I guess no one has done a version yet. I had a hard time catching the rhythm of these lyrics and changed some to make it fit how I could deliver. I hope that's OK. If not, I do apologize.

apart from getting paid i can`t see the point in doing covers.
Some of us aren't that creative. As Dave Van Ronk said, "Why play a mediocre song I wrote when I can play a terrific song someone else wrote?"

I'm definitely interested in an event in VA.

We'll pull out the calendar. July is shot already. If it's in August that would mean it'll just be me and maybe my youngest because the eldest is in band camp then and Sonya returns to work after a summer break. That's why we were thinking June.

3. Spend lots of time outdoors.

Also, if you have a problem when you're live after getting the sound test to sound right, you're first inclination will be to check the cables. Don't. The problem is that you need to push the button. Find which button needs pushing, then push it. Once you push the button, the sound will work better.

Sorry. I thought you meant that you didn't know what to do about the dates.
If you meant that you don't know what to do about live sound, that's a whole different ball of wax. I used to do some very simple sound engineering. There are some remarkably good white papers and beginner introduction write-ups available. I'm sorry that I don't have any of those old links bookmarked or I'd share them. I suspect if you do a Google Search on "Live Sound for Beginners" or "Introduction to Band Live Sound" or some such that you'd find some real zingers and maybe some Youtube tutorials. If you've already got your live sound board, then you could search on it. About the only thing I can tell you is to have the sound guy control the monitors, because otherwise the lead guitarist will cut everyone else out and crank himself/herself up to 11 and you'll have terrible feedback and it's all that anyone will hear. Or the bass player, but since you're the bass player I"m sure you wouldn't do that.

Zurf wrote:Man. I'll sure miss you at Chordiestock if you can't make it DE. Sonya and I were talking about a possible June Zurfapalooza, possibly along the Shenandoah. The Potomac campground where Ben used to have the Gatherodeos got all cleaned up and now they want half a fortune for sites. It's a nice campground, but not worth more per night than a Motel 6 room.
That place where we had the Zurfapalooza a few years ago when Normtheguitar joined us worked out pretty well. Also, the Andy Guest State Park is good, but not quite so free with the adult beverages as our crowd generally prefers.
What date in June are you thinking about Zurf? The Riversmallies Buckeye Rodeo is usually around the first weekend of June and this year Al Agnew is wanting to put together an RS event in Arkansas or Missouri about the second week.

I suggest you either get a band or cancel your gigs in time for the venues to find replacements.

That's awful high. Sounds like some time away from pretty near everything, with some gentle meditative music and sending your mind and spirit off to a happy place is in order. Comfortable chair, long, slow, deep breaths, and some tasty herbal tea is also helpful. Every day, as often as needed. Get that BP down.
