Backyard gathering pre-game starts around midnight tonight when Roger's flight makes it in from Portugal!  Here's wishing him safe travels.  It's going to be a loooooong day for him!

Mood rings?  what?  Those things totally work!  I am ALWAYS energetic when I wear mine!

Good to see ya Bill - one of my grandmothers (YEARS ago - she's gone now, Rip gram) had surgery to remove excess droopy eye skin too - lucky for me, hers don't appear to be inherited.  HI!  Good to see ya.

1st - I'm going to quote someone's comment on the company's youtube video:

"Absolutely absurd. A SOUNDLESS musical "tool"? The right hand strumming PLASTIC? Incredible. What's the next product from this company? A pen that doesn't write? A basketball that doesn't bounce? A toaster that doesn't toast? This company would be hard pressed to find even ONE professional guitarist to endorse this silly, needless product-- unless they paid them, of course. Small travel guitars abound. Buy one. They actually make music."

hee hee, that made me laugh.  Now here's the vid - assuming, of course, that this is the same product JX3 is talking about:

Wow - soooo... it's for "practicing your chord shapes" and nothing more (unless you like the idea of fretting strings and then pretending to strum them).  I suppose... maybe... it could have merit somehow in possibly keeping your callouses if you're going to be away from your guitar for weeks.  Maybe.

Well Bill, every now and then I think we all have had a moment somewhat as you've described.  Imagining things like that happening more often than not though is the difficult part.  I am sure that it's not just the embarrassment of it happening, but knowing what caused it and figuring out that it was "the beast" tricking you, is the worst part of all. I just want to say, I'm really sorry you're going through this.  It sucks.  I'm very thankful that you have Dondra and your son around to help you.

Just... don't you go anywhere and don't you forget US, dag nabbit!

Over the years I've made some changes that have cut down on yearly maintenance dramatically. I can now clean up the place myself in half a day. It cut into my income a bit but he has been just tickled with the changes I've made. He quit asking me for a cost estimate about 10 years ago. If I don't hear from him by the second week of July, I'll call him to let him know what day I'll be there.

"$230/hr" for landscaping.  You're doing something right!  LOL!  Well, heck at least you've got one very good customer.  Call it a "company bonus"  smile  That's awesome.

Sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you Russell.  Honestly, I haven't played around much with the old desktop upgraded to Win 10.  It's sole purpose in life right now is for the kids to use to play their games (apps) and view youtube videos of minecraft and make up tutorials (little girls are pretty silly).  I can say, I haven't been called over to "fix" anything though, so it must be running ok.  My daughter did say that it doesn't seem to be running any faster than it was, although switching users is MUCH improved and I like the security features built into 10 for the kids (I get a weekly email of what apps they've played and websites they've visited - or can look at any time from the internet - and it appears quite secure = I did have to set up separate accounts on Microsoft for them and verify I was an adult).

I did find that after I upgraded it, it took a day before a LOT more updates showed up on the older machine.  I was originally sold with Win 7 - I purchased Win 8 trying to revive a dying laptop and ended up putting it on that machine.  It's a piece of junk from Walmart that my MIL bought - Junk as in, blacklisted - can't use that model to work from home on with most companies it's so bad!  But, so far so good as far as I can tell.

So, anyone migrating - keep an eye on the windows updates every few days and run any update software that came with your printer/video card/sound card/etc. I don't blame ya though Russ.  A lot of people don't want to have to WORK to make their machine run properly.  Wish I was close, I probably could have gotten it "happy" for ya.

So, I did a little scouring of the webs, because that's what I do.  I found a "vintage price guide" published in 2010 that shows that model in the price range of $725-$900 (not original price of course, but used guitar price).  Guitar Center has one in stock in their Nashville store for $799.  So, I figure that 3.5 hour job payed at the rate of approximately $230/hour.  big_smile  Obviously you got a hell of a deal!   But, now I'm even more curious... what kind of job did you do for this guy?  Beautiful guitar!  Congrats again!

Nice Deal!  Beauty of a guitar!  Happy NGD indeed!!!!!!!  smile  Congrats UJB!

I have some stuff I could contribute -

Not to be a stick in the mud however, if there's going to be a charity involved, it needs to be a good one that actually does good (ie: there's a lot of organizations that help with Autism, but only if you qualify based on income - they work off government subsidies - federal/state medical assistance and are not need based - I won't support any org's like that).

Now THAT's the way to tell a story.  Get your readers interested with odd events, foreshadowing, curiosity of the unknown....

Then tell an amazing fishing story!

NICE GRAB on the Effects AND FP/C(wpc)[apc]!  LOL!  Free... SHWAEET!

Whoopie called... lol!

I set the live stream for 7pm my time - I figure by then anyone that came just for the free food will be gone, we'll be done eating and ready for a few drinks and guitars.  Plus, once it gets dark, I'll have to shut it down.  This way - any camera shy people won't have to worry as it'll only be on for a short bit.  I'm expecting people to arrive around 1ish.  Looking at a group of 15-25 - corn on the cob and salt potatoes for all!

I also want to just say publicly - my husband is THE BEST!  He's working his butt off all day, then coming home and working is butt off around this old house, and it's been pretty HOT in NY! The big ole wrap around porch is being redone NOW - to make this place more sturdy (we don't want the roof falling off on people) and to ensure safety on the steps, and look much better of course.  He was working on it slowly, but knowing people are coming has kicked things into overdrive.  I'm happy!  I love that guy!  AND the old barn is finally coming DOWN!  whooo hooo!  Super kudos to Jim for all his hard work in helping to make this house a home.

I decided last night that I need a beautiful sign made that reads, "Money Pit" for the front of my house (instead of our last name, I want to place it under the house numbers).  It's gotta be classy though, to match what this place will become, someday!  LMAO!

I noticed something odd with the win 10 when I want to print out a song and hit the print option I have to download a pdf and print it out, this never happened with the win 7 is there something I can do to change it or is this part of an update to Chordie?

hmmmmm... I'm not seeing this.  It may be that you just have the wrong "printer' chosen.  Next time you try to print, check out what's in the printer name field.  It may say "Microsoft PDF Print" - you'll want to change that to your printer name.

You can go into your settings to set your actual printer as the default so you don't have to change that every time you print. (control panel, view devices and printers - under hardware and sound, find your printer and right click on it, then left click on "set as default").

On the other hand, LOOK how EASY it is to create a pdf!  wink

In the basement, collecting dust.

I never collected a ton - so what I do have was ripped to the computer years ago and transferred over each time a new computer is purchased (better yet, now on a hard drive wired into the network so any computer can access them and no longer have to move them).  I do keep a handful in the car still.  Jim uses Sirius XM in his truck.  Plus we have music on our droids and plug them directly into our vehicles to listen.  Yep - we're pretty well digital.

Well... I was thinking about it... and ya know what?  I probably won't have time to sit in front of the computer to do the whole skype thing back and forth and to and fro and such.  So... I'll try this instead:

I would like to add one important detail about newer machines, having bought one recently.

THIN, QUIET, does NOT overheat!

The new processors (I'm running an i5 processor) do NOT get hot (newer generations = less heat, mine's either a generation 4 or 5 I can't remember off the top of my head now) .  I don't have any big fans in my laptop.  It's uber thin.  I don't have a need for a cooling fan.  Yep, you read that right.  No need at all.  Once in a while, if it's really quiet in the room and I've been running a resource hog of a program, I can faintly hear a fan running in my laptop, but there are no vents in the bottom or sides (there is one in the back, but it doesn't spit out hot air).  Sure - my laptop gets a bit warm on the bottom, but not enough that I might burn myself if it's on my LAP, and not enough to worry about burning out my hard drive or other components.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!  I think my android phone gets hotter than my laptop.  Honestly!

Plus - if you're looking to go to Windows 10 - there's a lot of features built in that are made to work with touchscreens.  Not all newer computers are touch, but if you get one that is, it DOES work well!  smile

That's my 2 cents.  New isn't cheap though.  There's a lot of laptops on the market running older processors that don't fit in with my description.

I think so far everyone is enjoying 10!  I'm happy to hear this.  No one liked the new layout of 8 when it came out, and a lot of people had problems with Vista.

Phill Here's the "official answer from Microsoft":

"Can I get Windows 10 if I have a device running Windows XP or Windows Vista?

You may purchase Windows 10 from the Microsoft Store or other retailers and install it on your existing device running Windows XP or Windows Vista if your device meets the minimum spec requirements for Windows 10. You will need to back up any existing files before installing Windows 10. It will be a “clean” install.

However, we recommend you experience Windows 10 on a newer device. We think you’ll be happier with the affordable, great PCs that are available today. PCs have improved dramatically since Windows XP was released in 2001 and Windows Vista was released in 2006. "

Found here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/Windows-10-faq

Free upgrade minimum system requirements are here:  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/Windows-10-specifications#sysreqs

Sorry, it looks like you'd have to pay to upgrade the machine running Vista IF it meets minimum specs.

Good grief, NELA.  When it rains it pours huh?  Bad things come in threes?  Whatever the cliche, I think your cup is full.  Time for the good stuff to start happening and things to spin around.  I'm glad to hear that your son is staying positive through this.  That's not the easiest road to take.  Hopefully your truck will be all fixed up too and ya'll can move on to bigger and better things.  Or just normal things.  Normal, happy things.  smile  That's what I'm hoping for all of ya.  It's about time for a little boredom with normality.

Huzzah!  It is done!

Just as an FYI - The file wouldn't go down to the necessary size with the normal methods.  I had to strip the file of excess data generally used for printing purposes.  I'm not sure how to do that other than with photo editing software.  I'm guessing some of those websites that will do it for ya will strip the files of that info.  Anyhooooo... if anyone else has an issue getting a file down to 10kb or less and you're not comfy using one of those sites, just lemme know and I'll be happy to help.
