This is an older post.... but still a good one!

Hi Bella77, I assume you dredged this up for some of our newer members to enjoy, so thanks for that.

I'll be watching to see what else you come up with, so if you are a serious musician you should wander down to the Chat Corner and introduce yourself to the group.  Generally a fine bunch from all over the planet who would be pleased to get to know you better.

Well the College season is over!  Got to hand it to Ohio State, they came to win and got'r dun!

Sorry Ducks, they just outplayed you fella's all the way round.  But really? how many times can you call the same play in a row without somebody on your defense getting wise?  Not to mention those "shot m'self in the foot again" fouls?  Sixty yards in penalties!

  Nah, the Buckeyes just wanted it more.... forget the ticker-tape, I hear they're stockpiling rocks down in Eugene.

I'm sure the Hawks will give Green Bay a warm Welcome..... well, at least above 25 degrees anyway!  Should be a really good game, with Rogers and the Pack looking for some "payback" for the trouncing they got early in the season from Seattle.

However it goes, it'll be a good show!

Also the Pats/Colts should be worth tuning in for as well.  Sad to see the Broncos go down (I was rooting for them today).

Tomorrow our Ducks face Ohio.... embarassing about the drug thing.  Those kids should know that just because the State made it legal, the NCAA doesn't have to go along with it.  AND it reflects poorly on the school as a whole.  Being a local we hear all about the "dirty laundry" that gets suppressed in the media.... most hold their athletes to a higher standard it seems.  Proud to be a Beaver, where a "drunk in public" ticket gets you "benched" !!

Good Luck to the Packers Today!!  Nothing against the Cowboys though.... this part of the season is where the best football is played, by the best performers of the season.

Green Bay and Seattle would be a really good show to end the year on!  Kickoff in 10 so gotta go turn on the "tube".

I guess I haven't got around to making a 2014 album yet.  It's only been 10 months.  Get off my back.

Before you delve into the 2014 album, how about a label for pic #25. I believe you are 2nd from the left. Who is everyone else?

Is this a quiz?  I'll try!

Just guessin' though, I wasn't there.  On the bucket list.

Well, I just logged on and read your post.... it's working fine for me.  Is there any indication of a "hotlink" or advertisement that you are experiencing?
We have had some comments about intrusive ads covering up elements of the Chordie page on some devices (although Chordie itself has curtailed advertising, Adsense still sticks in stuff as part of "your browser experience").  Ad-Block does a good job of filtering out the ads... just add the free plug-in from your browser add-ons menu.

We'll hang around and see if it is widespread, and proceed accordingly.

Thanks for posting;
Doug

Just poked around the interweb, and there are many postings about this particular redirect cropping up.  No reports of malicious activity associated, but it has been speculated that it is Adsense related.  Ad blocking seems to resolve the issue, so I would still recommend my above advise.  DS

Welcome Aboard Bouncer!

Good bunch of folks here and lots of music and conversation to enjoy, so tell us a bit about yourself and make yourself to home.

Doug

Hi John, and yeah what Amy said above..... I assume that you are using the linkesoft application, and I have absolutely no idea what they intended with that one (and no help on the homepage either???).

The good news is (on the other hand) your "My Songbook" on Chordie is available anywhere you go that has WiFi access on whatever device you happen to have.

The other way is to access the music here on Chordie and choose "print to file" in your printer options and save the tune as PDF.  Those you can then put all in one folder in your "my documents or my music" directory, available to use even if there is no internet access.  OR.... like some of us, print a hard copy and stick it in a binder (my preference and it needs no electrons & fits better on a music stand!).

Well I wouldn't hold my breath.... there is only so much real-estate on the page, and that is the frame size we have to work with.

On the bright side (if you really want folks to recognize you on the street, pestering you for autographs etc.) there is always your website, youtube page or ???

Just remember, if you put it out there.... it's FOREVER!

Howdy Bill,

You might check out this chart:   http://www.don-guitar.com/transpose.html

One of many out there....  as for the simple version, a capo is generally used to change the key signature of the tune to better suit your voice.  It requires a little experimentation to find where it works for you.... but usually once you find your "spot" it will hold true for almost anything.      Handy hint:
Capo on 2 to put your guitar in alignment with piano sheet music.

The main reason I have one clamped on my guitar is to get around some of the more difficult chord fingerings that my gnarled old fingers don't like to do as well anymore..... not to mention that my natural key vocally is Bb, so I capo on 1 quite a bit.  Songs that are listed as being scored "con Capo"  will usually be annotated in the header, and a good example would be Landslide which I believe was Capo'd on 3 .

Hope that helps;
Doug

Just a little warning about the Power Pins. A Luthier / Guitar tecj friend of a friend does not recommend them. Says they put undue pressure on the rear part of the bridge and that he has had to reattach more than one bridge due to their use. Of course, your mileage may vary.

I was wondering about that as well, so I went here....
http://bigrockeng.com/powerpinassemblypage.html
and took a look at the illustrations.  One would think that the "clamping" effect of the hardware would serve to laminate the layers together better than the original glue bond.  As for the angle, it looks like it would not change much as it stays fairly close to what it would be if the bridge was unchanged (only a mm or so higher than the factory exit).

What think ye Roger?  You've been doing Lutherie for awhile.

As an afterthought, I failed to notice if they were available in both 3.5 and 5 degree taper..... we had discussed that in an earlier thread about changing to brass pins.  It might be wise to test fit these new doo-dads and ream as needed to get a tight fit for optimal transfer of vibration.

Would it be more useful if I start again with sign up on my current email address?

Thanks for checking back in Ali with additional information.  I doubt that starting another account (or modifying your current one) would cure anything, you would likely have to change to a different e-mail as well because the two are linked here on Chordie.  That said, I will do a little research on the software you have in use, (android of some flavor... taffy, popcorn, cotton-candy, jelly-bean or whatever. I use Linux and they too like silly names like: precocious penguin, natty narwhal, etc.) and see if I can suss out what browser they actually bundled in there.  We'll see if there is a simple work-around to get the darn ads from eating up your valuable screen space so you can better use it.

I may be contacting you personally for additional info if that is acceptable, and when we get it figured out, post our best result here for the benefit of others.

Cheers;
Doug

Got me curious, even though my Ovation already has a kind of "string through" saddle.  I HAD to check out the link.... cool idea and with the back-up washers and nylock nuts should be a one-time installation.  String tension looks pretty linear also which should reduce the  tendency for the saddle "lifting", couple that with the bit of added mass of the hardware I would expect some increase in sustain also.

If you change strings often, $35 is a good trade off against having to be pulling and resetting/replacing bridge-pins IMO.

Tom, if you have ad block added to your browser, you would just click on the icon (upper right side of the toolbar in Firefox) and it should open up a menu listing all the items that are running and blocked.  You just scroll down the list and find the one you want to allow and choose disable for this item always.  Usually if there is a conflict, your streaming application will give you a warning advisory that you should disable ad blocking to view content, and you can do it at that time..... saves a bit of sorting on your part.

is there a way to have the frets and finger position to the side corresponding with the name of the chord above the words.  So far even the chords at the very bottom aren't showiing up, how can I accomplish this? thanks new to chordie.

Welcome to Chordie!

I kinda thought someone might have a better answer than I for your question, so I didn't respond earlier.  Pretty much what Roger posted above is what you have to work with.  As for getting the grids to display above the lyrics (instead of just the chord name), I don't have an answer.  The chopro formatting software is beyond my expertise so far as what it's capable of.  If you are having trouble deciphering the grids, you might PM me and I could direct you to some tutorials that might be helpful.

As for the grids not displaying, a little more info would be helpful. Such as the device you use, operating system and browser.  You might be able to adjust your preferences or screen resolution to display more "real-estate" so they will be available on the page.

Greetings Chordians!  We had another thread awhile back addressing this (problem?) further down the section.  The culprits are Google Adsense, Google Analytics, and Quantcast..... not a Chordie issue, but easily overcome by adding the Ad Block Plus plugin to your browser.  I use it and Ghostery, as well as deleting cookies on closing the browser.  No ads no pop-ups and everything displays just as intended.

Some members are using different add ons that get the same end result, so you might want to scroll down the About Chordie section and scan the posts from earlier.

BJ;  Your comment about Netflix may have some weight, if you commonly watch Hulu or other streaming entertainment that is ad supported, you have to "allow ad-blocking exceptions" for that site (and you can specify, so it just doesn't turn it off for everybody).  That's how they support the service and without allowing the ads, you don't get to have the content.

Keep us posted & be safe out there;
Doug

Well NELA, you do what the doc says and get yourself well...... then you can really enjoy the good vittles at home.  Although awhile back I was visiting a buddy who had been in for diverticulitis surgery (they had removed about 10 feet of his intestines) and was on some kind of liquid diet which was (according to Jeff, disgusting) not very satisifying.  The other fellow in the room was there for some kind of chemotherapy, and had managed to order up a mess of Chinese from a local joint..... and they delivered it to the room.

The NSA has nothing in their torture manual that could compare to smelling all that yummy, when you can't have none of it!

Get healed and have a Good New Year!

More info please... or maybe I'm not understanding your question.  I gather that you requested a temporary password, likely because you forgot your original one, and there is some function that you are not able to access (although you have access because you are able to post to the forum).

Once you accessed your account with the temp password, did you set a new one?  Is it that you cannot access your songbook?  More data would be helpful in helping us help you.

Thanks;
Doug

Howdy knarfc and Welcome to Chordie!

Well they are there in the chord charts here on chordie.... just not marked clearly and you have to click on the chord to see the alternative fingerings.

Many first position shapes are moveable using a barre, but you have to get used to leaving your index finger free to barre with.... good form, but not as easy as it sounds.  Try this link for a clear picture and some charts to assist:   http://guitarchordsworld.com/bar-chords

Also you might check out justinguitar.com as he has some very good video tutorials (free on youtube) that will get you up to speed quickly.

Thanks for joining the best guitar site on the web (no conceit around here!) and we look forward to hearing from you often as you enjoy the Journey!

Welcome Aboard and Happy Holidays,

Doug
