Well now you've told us the animal you like, but how do you feel about baseball teams?

Happy birthday Russell, to the most humble of wizards and helpful of mutant royalty.  Many happy returns of the day.  I hope you get to have your favorite treat, whatever that is (root beer floats, is it?).

EDITED TO ADD: Oh! I have to play it myself???? I don't have a guitar right now -  only my drums, but can I pick a song and  get one of our family to play it for us? Sorry, I STILL didn't understand it. The best I could do would be Wipeout, but I don't have a mic. Sorry I keep getting it wrong, but if I could, I'd play, "Sloop John B"...... But I vote for my very good pal, dino, and he probably knows what song I'd like him to play.....

Your Pal,

"Batty Bill"

I can not sing at all, I sound like a frog

Sing anyway. It's good for you.

Sorry Bill, I've moved on to Moondance.  I'm making progress on it, even if it does have a chord very similar to B in it.  Maybe I'll come back around to Haunted House.  I picked it because it's silly and short and in large part because I would really like to learn to play that boogie-woogie lite rhythm and progression.

Wow! Thanks for the kind words Zurf.  Guess I owe ya some bourbon the next time we meet.

DE

You owe me nothing, but I'll accept the bourbon.

I started working on Haunted House, but it hasn't gone so well despite educational assistance from BaldGuitarGuy.

Here it is covered by John Fogerty.

I am having a very hard time with the timing on Ripple.  It did get me to pull out a harmonica and toot on it, which has been fun.  I don't think anyone on Chordie, excepting maybe Dirty Ed, has heard me toot on a harmonica.

For what it's worth DE, it still smells like Crown Royal and Macanudos thanks to Patty.

Sorry.  Work has been absolutely bonkers of late, and I have had little time to listen to our Chordians performing these songs, and less time to record one.

I have been doing a campfire strummer version of Take It Easy for a few years, so I knocked it out quick.  My voice is bad.  My picking is bad.  My timing isn't horrible.  My enunciation is.  With that introduction, here it is.

My G7 seems to work pretty well, but you've got to give it a good squeeze once it's on in order for it to do it's best.

Actually, it was yesterday.

Thanks all for the well wishes.

We are discussing now how to run next month's thread.  How about a vote on that? How would YOU ALL like to see the FSOTM chosen for November? Let's put THAT to a vote!  smile

Do you prefer song suggestions, or people suggestions?
Do you prefer the hat, or moderators choice, or would you prefer to put it to a membership vote for November?

How about a "theme" song suggestion?  Think... "member written songs" or "Christmas/Winter songs" or "break up songs" or "love songs" or ... any certain theme!

Let us know what YOU think!  We have lots more months ahead of us, unless the internet dies! ha ha ha!  smile  So, how would YOU like to see the November song chosen?

Don't care. i just don't want any responsibility or accountability. Pick a song, vote for a song, genre, do your thing. I shall salute the flag.

Take that pneumonia stuff seriously.  Bad, bad juju.  I hope you get well soon.

I vote for the rabbit.

Scheduled to rain most of day on Friday here.  Unlikely that I'll drive up when no one will be there yet.

The Saturday all day training is to become a certified archery coach, so it will hopefully be pretty fun.

Cool.  I already half-way know one of the songs.

LOL.  Good one.  On a similar note...

I forget who said it, but I think it was Sid Vicious, "Heavy Metal is what happened when Punks learned to play their instruments."

I have a full day training session on October 1.  I'd have to make a swing-by trip on Friday to visit and then come back home.  Six hours of driving for two or three hours of playing, but I'll consider it.

I"ve had my Martin 12 string for about a year and a half now.  It's one of their lower end guitars where almost everything but the top is an engineered material.  I thought that would be useful for keeping it in tune.  The dynabond (or whatever the heck it's called) neck in particular is stiff and resists pressure well.  It stays in tune very well.

As for playing, I kind of like the sound when you can pick notes out, but I do very little soloing that way.  The kind of thing where I use the cowboy chords and kind-of, sort-of pick out the melody on the treble strings works very nicely on the 12-er.
