Mine's working fine....

Man, this is tough...

The first that comes to mind is this line from "Fire Water Burn" by The Bloodhound Gang

"But if I go to hell then I hope I burn well,
I'll spend my days with J.F.K., Marvin Gaye, Martha Raye, and Lawrence Welk,
And Kurt Cobain, Kojak, Mark Twain and Jimi Hendrix's poltergeist,
And Webster yeah Emmanuel Lewis cause he's the anti-christ"

(Hope that's not too much?)

Not sure why.... But I always loved that lyric smile There's a few good lines in that song. Here's a link to the censored version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXdLpjmk … re=related

I'm bad for ending with "Okay" or just "kay". I guess it's a habit from always supervising and explaining procedures at work. I've got a tutorial on youtube that I made for "Woderwall" when I had only been playing like 7 months... I bet I say "Okay" 30 - 40 times in it smile It's enough that people have made comments on it smile Probably did it more then because of nerves, since it was my first recording/upload. I can't even watch it, because it annoys me and I sound so much like a hick in it, but others don't seem to really mind wink -Pix

Any horn players?? I'm working on "Spanish Town" and am looking for someone to possibly record the horn work through the second verse and chorus.  The run after the chorus isn't really necessary.. Here's the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzJPnSHG … annel_page You hear the horn kick in at around 1:00. No hurry, but if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it! -Pix

If I sit down with the guitar and can't find a pick, I just take it as a sign that it's time for some fingerstyle practice wink

I did a pick round up shortly after posting this thread... Most have been recovered:) We have a gazebo on the back deck with a couch and a few chairs under it... I/we play there a lot and upon searching under the cushions, I recovered over 3 dozen picks smile The laundry room also turned up quite a few..

No idea... But sounds like a Lou Bega line to me wink     Maybe "Mambo No.5" or "I Got A Girl"??

I agree with Jets, We need a few more clues smile

Welcome to the forums!! -Pix

Hey Tangledup625, Welcome to the forums!! I've never actually played through a roland AC series but have heard good reviews from some fellow members. I believe NELA is a fan, perhaps he'll chime in on their behalf. I use a Marshal AS50D myself. I'm very pleased with it and would highly recommend them. Ultrasound also has some wonderful 2 channel acoustic amps in your price range that would be well worth a look... -Pix

Looks nice that.

I like North Carolina.

Sailed to Wilmington a number of times, and found the locals to be very friendly.

South Carolina's nice too, sailed to Charleston a bit as well like.

That's cool man! Wilmington is less than an hour from me... I live pretty much at the state line of North and South Carolina about 30 miles in from the coast. If you ever sail back this way give me a heads up! Love to meet and show you around some of the local hot spots smile -Pix/Chris

Raven, Yea, I'd be lost away from the coast smile Sorry you had to leave it sad  -Chris

As far as a get together is concerned.... You don't even have to ask wink Just tell me when and were, you know I'm game smile -Chris

Hey Ron,
I'm curious...I've never heard an ebony saddle before... How would you describe it's effects on tone as a saddle material. I would think that it would add a lot of bass, maintain mids and soften the highs a little... Is that about right? Does it hold up well? I'd be interested in trying it. -Pix

Pix, I am not quite sure what you mean by 'the contact/release point of the nut slots' can you please explain.

Roger

Hey Roger,

Sometimes when a guitar is new ,or has been serviced poorly, the nut slots are cut sloppily... or the guitar could have excessive wear at the nut... They should be cut at a slight angle so that the string loses contact with the nut at the very edge. If it's cut wrong or worn too much, the string can leave the nut from the middle or rear of the nut.  Most nuts are a little over 1/8 inch thick... So if the nut is off and the string loses contact at the rear, it essentially raises the scale length of that string by an 1/8 inch...  People that capo a lot on 1st or 2nd fret are more likely to have this problem, as the capo adds a lot of extra tension/wear to the nut. Plastic nuts are also quite prone to it... -Pix

Great post Ron!! My saddle material prefrences all depend on the acoustic in question and it's voice/tonewoods. I can't say that I have a favorite across the board.... My 4 Yairi's all have vintage bone saddles, my Pro Curly maple has the fossilized walrus ivory, The pro rosewood has plain old bone. Now on my acoustic electrics that have an undersaddle pickup I prefer Tusq saddles. It's a man made material very similar to bone but is more consistent in density and performs much better (IMO) with electronics than other materials. No worries about inconsistent sound transfer through the USP.

I'd like to add ,also, that if your setting your intonation to be sure and check the contact/release point of the nut slots as well as the saddle. It's often overlooked and I just wanted to mention it...-Pix

Well I'm 35 years old, Male, and fron the southeast US (NC) I've had a guitar for 23 years but have only really been playing seriously for a little over 2 years. Before that it was just tinkering around on it with friends...

Hey Guys, Thanks for all the advice! Russell, I went ahead and ordered the usb cable that hooks mine to the pc... That should solve my problem smile

Phill, the card I have is a 1 GB card so it has plenty of room. I think I was just just missing something when trying to save to it.

I've got Propellerhead7 studio software and a few diffrent versions of cubebase as well. with the new usb2 hookup I should be set to go, as soon as it arrives smile -Pix

I generally use Elixirs.. When they start getting rust on the plain strings, I sand them lightly with a very fine 3m foam sanding pad. This removes any burrs and makes them feel & look like new. I then remove them and pass them down to my kids for their acoustics. Then when I change again I keep the old ones from my kids guitars and use them on the job. They work great as cutting tools! Say you have a mirror thats glued to a wall and needs to be removed. You can slowly pry it off and then have to repair sheetrock, or you can work an old guitar string behind it and cut the adhesive and pull it off nice and clean like. They also work really well when trying to seperate/remove old wood laminates from each other. Get the string started between the wood layers at a corner and slowly work them back and forth to seperate the pieces.. -Pix

Just wanted to to say "I think this is a great idea!"

I've invested some into recording equipment...  I dabble with it but have never really figured it out properly. It's just one of those things that keep getting put on the back burner smile Here's how my recordings usually go... I tend to start off with my drum track. Usually just a bongo or cajun beat that I'll record through my condenser mic... Then I play that back over my headphones and record my rhythm on a separate track using my guit. I prefer to mic my acoustics and seldom run them straight to the recorder. Most of the time I'll mic the guitar and run a second mic to record vocals at the same time. I tend to sing better while playing...;) After that I play those 2 back together over the headphones and add in the whatever solo work I want to track 3. Then I just repeat the same process with the shakers, guiro, or whatever else I want to throw in a little of. That's about as far as I ever get sad  I have yet to figure out how to save my tracks and transfer them to the pc for further work. My digital recorder saves it to a flash drive and I've followed the directions to a T. But every time I remove the card and put it in my pc, I only have a short riff that I ,somehow, saved on it about a year ago when I first bought it.... I'm sure I'm just missing something simple, but I hate to try it again 'cause I have so much stuff on it and hate to risk losing it all... So ,as you can see, my recording experience is very limited smile smile I'm hoping to pick up a lot of good tips in this thread from you pro's wink I'm going to get off the computer now and go torture myself with a few hours of tedious manual deciphering... It's about time I manned up and confronted this 100 big paged, small printed beast smile -Pix

Give this a try Zurf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yX4rIXGEbDY Here's the Tab http://www.guitaretab.com/d/denver-john/5102.html It's capo'd on 2nd and in Drop D tuning.

When I click on a beatles song, It shows the song for a second and then the message appears... However, if I hit page back once the song returns with no more complications. -Pix

Around here we call surfers "reefers" But that's kind of a local thing... That's why I asked smile I'm kinda a beach bum myself. I've spent the last 3 days on Sunset island with my guitar. Nothing like sitting on a quite beach with a guitar for musical inspiration.

You could use the b string in a pinch but I'd suspect it won't sound very balanced...

As far as going to 10's, I think you'd probably be okay. You can usually move up or down one step without any real adjustment being needed. Even if it did add just a touch more relief to the neck it would be hardly noticable and shouldn't have much effect on your intonation. No more than it would be, you could work it out at the bridge without having to go to the truss rod. But chances are it will be fine without any adjustments anywhere.

Thanks for the kind words Kajima! You seem to be an excellent guy yourself smile -Pix

You'd have to upload them to Flickr or some other photo hosting site on the web, for them to get an http: address so you could post them here.
