Happy New Year to you all. I spent the evening with some Portuguese friends and their neighbours, I took my guitar (of course) and had a great evening. It is 03:15 here and just arrived home smile.

Are these the two sites you are trying to direct fellow Chordians?

I concur with the above. Playing a down stroke it is easier if the thinner string comes first.

I have owned a 12 string, off and on, since the mid 60's and I have never heard of doing this, a 12er is not designed to be strung this way so I would avoid it like the plague.

All of us regulars on Chordie know that Jeff is as honest as the day is long and know of his excitement when he found this guitar for sale. We also all know the distress and disappointment he suffered when this guitar went missing.

Although I sympathise with the seller, the blame for the loss sits fairly and squarely on their door, and this is definitely not the place to come to try and pass the blame on Jeff.

Hoping this is just the first step for your better half and that improvement continues.

Great guitar and a wonderful prize to cherish.

Welcome Brooklin,

I have only been playing for 55 years and still learning.

As this is independent software, the owner of Chordie has no control over it so it is impossible to offer you any help in this matter.

Your only hope is that if someone reading has it, they can suggest where they got it or check from their programme who the software distributors are so you can contact them.

Welcome to the forum 'akai63'.

I see you have been lurking for a while so it is nice that you have decided to join in. Nip down to the 'Chat' section and tell us a little about yourself (experience, guitars music tastes).

Roger

P.S. You have nicked a part of my signature lol

I know the owner of the Restaurante Gamboa here in Almancil very well (I eat there regularly and his daughter is a talented student of mine). So, as the weather was a little inclement, we called in during the afternoon when it was quiet to rattle off a few songs. Rui (the restaurant owner) suggested that we should go and play there that evening and, if we did, he would treat us to a meal. An offer just too good to refuse and, as you can see, we even got Rui to get his guitar and join us later in the evening.

The patrons, Rui and his staff enjoyed our performance and I certainly had a great time. Paul is an accomplished performer.

Dave, here you can chat about anything, but we avoid religion and politics as they can get too controversial. As we have some young people and ladies, both as Members and visitors, we are always very careful with out language. There are 'Stickies' at the start of most sections that give guidelines to help prevent newbies from putting their foot in it lol.

So please let us know of the guitars you have, some of your experiences and about the people you have played with.

Welcome Dave,

It is nice to hear about people's musical experiences so don't apologise, but if you really want to have a long, serious ramble nip down to the 'Chat section' where you can ramble to your heart's content smile.....

Just read the Wikipedia articles on both these fish, native to America only so no wonder that in New Zealand and the UK they are unheard of and I see YouTube even has a vid on how to fillet them smile.

It was 17:30 when Paul arrived so after getting him settled in at his lodgings, we had a meal and a pint, so no time to twang any tunes. However today I am at the shop all day and I only have a couple of students so we should have plenty of time to annoy the neighbours, I might even let him try my new Tanglewood smile.

The shamisen appears to be a 3 stringed instrument so it would be ideal for Seasick Steve numbers lol.

Seriously, I would think that the shamisen will have an interesting sound being skinned, something akin to a banjo I guess. It would be interesting to hear it when it is re-skinned.

Have fun with the harmonica, I could never get to grips with one, so I stick to what I know - playing guitar badly.

Looks like fun although not so sure about coming down the steps and across the road. I don't think a boogie board has very good brakes smile.

At Faro airport this evening I saw this rather suspicious looking character coming towards me.

Later, at a bar I sometimes frequent I come across him again... I think he might be following me!!!

Welcome to Portugal Paul lol

Great how fortunes can change. Suddenly from the loss on one to the acquisition of two. Looking forward to photos of the actual one and a report on how she plays (nice to see a zero fret, so the action will be nice and low).
