Here is the link to my song - The girl in the calico dress.

I was hoping someone that could actually play guitar and sing would record it - but here is my poor attempt smile

Hope you like it.

p.s.  for some reason the recording level was not what is was supposed to be. The only way  I can hear it is when I hook up headphones.  (sorry)

I like this song- it plays fairly  easy

It certainly gives a great insight to the " glamorous" world of performers.

people just assume bc you're on the stage that everything is perfect.  No one accounts for the ridiculous amount of time rehearsing and learning songs are involved, not to mention time away from loved ones.  I think you could probably write 10 more verses on the stuff that's difficult. I'm sure some of the peeps on here could give some ideas from their experiences.

Thanks for the song Phill   - looking forward to your posting it as a recording.

Bill and Dondra

That is awesome news !!!
So happy for you both !!!!

Hope you can return more often on chordie - but with Christopher added to the mix,
I wouldn't blame you one bit for spending every free second you have with him when possible!

Congratulations

I could get most of it but there is something screwy going on. I have to go to a meeting tonight, I can try again tomorrow.  I think it's in that last verse.
However the title and sub title is screwy too

Sorry I couldn't be of more help

Pretty darn  coo,l Scott.

Dominant drum kind of pushed guitars and vocals to the back, but maybe that's how it's supposed to be in that genre - I have no clue.

Anyway - I'm still jealous - wish I could have the talent to play in a band.

Good job, my friend.

Phill

Do you mean the lyrics and chords in Chordpro format or an actual recording ?
If it's lyrics and chords - I usually find that I have messed up the format
especially the brackets that start

I have added a 3rd verse

I just thought it was lame to only repeat the 2nd verse again as I had it.

Their site - almost all are sold out right now - unless you want an orange one smile
I'll wait for Russell's report

You really can't beat the price if they are comparable.

Thanks for taking a peek

The Girl in the Calico Dress by Jim Kenyon

.

[G]It was just a Sunday [D]morning like [C] all the ones be[G]fore

Nothing unfa[D]miliar, nothing [C]less and nothing more

There were [G]no signs, no [D]secrets, [C]nothing to cause alarm

There was [G]no indi[D]cation,she was [C]meant any [G]harm

.

[G]Time is so my[D]sterious, it’s [C]spellbound, and passes[G] by

It can it leave you [D]helpless, or [C] leave you asking why

There were[G] no poems [D]or songs, no [C]cryptic notes around

with no [G]answers to the [D]questions asked,no[C] reasons can be [G]found

.

Chorus

[C]She always looked so pretty when she [G]wore that calico dress

Oh her [D]eyes of blue, and lips so sweet, her [C]hair a red hot[G] mess

Yea she [C]stole my heart long ago, when she [G]took me by the hand

and [D]whispered sweet rhymes to me , only [C]she could under[G]stand

[C]she’s no longer with me Lord,[G]she’s in a better place

But I [D]still hear her laughter, see the[C] lines upon her [G]face

yea the [C]truth is, I miss her so, oh [G] that I must confess

And I’m [D]wishing I could hold the girl, who [C]wore the calico [G]dress

.

[G] I remember her first [D]smile, first [C] time I saw her[G] eyes

But sometimes the [D]warning signs are [C]hard to recognize

There were [G],no fore[D]warnings no [C]hints of the gathering storm

And it’s [G]left me in this [D] cold world, with just a [C] memory to keep me [G]warm

.

Chorus

[C]She always looked so pretty when she [G]wore that calico dress

Oh her [D]eyes of blue, and lips so sweet, her [C]hair a red hot[G] mess

Yea she [C]stole my heart long ago, when she [G]took me by the hand

and [D]whispered sweet rhymes to me ,only [C]she could under[G]stand

[C]she’s no longer with me Lord,[G]she’s in a better place

But I [D]still hear her laughter, see the[C] lines upon her [G]face

yea the [C]truth is, I miss her so, oh [G] that I must confess

And I’m [D]wishing I could hold the girl, who [C]wore the calico [G]dress

.

And I’m [D]wishing I could hold the girl, [C]who wore the calico [G]dress

I’m [D]wishing I could hold the girl, who [C]wore the calico [G]dress

How I [D]wish I could hold the girl, who [C]wore the calico [G]dress

Ok - I did this as an instrumental - to save your ears from hearing me sing  smile

I f you like it - I would love some one that can actually sing and play it to cover it - I'm just too sucky of a musician to make it sound good.

Can't Walk Away By Jim Kenyon

.

Verse 1

[Am]You said that your leaving, for something new

I never saw it coming, but I [Em]know it’s true

It’s like when a [Am]storm becomes a [D7]hurricane

And then it [Em]stops, and you wonder if it's [Am]coming again

,

Verse 2

.

This love seems to be a clever masquerade

a well thought out lonely [Em]heart’s club charade

seen the [Am]good times and bad, the[D7] best and worst

like [Em]swimming in the ocean while you’re [Am]dying from thirst

,

Chorus

,

[D7]Thunder’s rolling and the rain’s coming down

and the [Am] house that built me is crumbling down

oh I [D7]ain’t scared of nothing , won't run away

But I [B7] never thought I’d lose you un [D7]til to[Am]day

yea I’ve [D7]walked away from trouble in the past

and I’ve [Am] walked away from trouble just to make this last

oh, I’ve [D7] walked away from trouble , you know that it’s true

Yea, I've [B7]walked away from trouble, but I [C7] can’t walk a[B7]way from [Am]you

.

Verse 3

.

It’s hard for me to tell now who you really are

You treated me like wet change [Em] on a bar

seems that [Am]every day leaves me [D7]crying in vain

since you [Em] said I hold you back like a [Am] ball and chain

.

Verse 4

.

Even when I'm with you , seems I'm all alone

Your kisses are cold , and your [Em]heart is stone

your poisoned [Am]wordsnow haunt my [D7]every dream

and now I'm [Em] seeing things never were [Am]what they seemed

.

Chorus

I've [B7]walked away from trouble, but I [C7] can’t walk a[B7]way from [Am]you

[B7]walked away from trouble, but I [C7] can’t walk a[B7]way from [Am]you

yea, I've [B7]walked away from trouble, but I [C7] can’t walk a[B7]way from [Am]you

Yes

It is Firefox that is the problem.  The songbook will print perfectly if you use Microsoft edge (or explorer) including the chord diagrams.
I have same issues with Firefox although that is my go to browser.
