Topic: Something To Believe In

Well after telling Easybeat (Brian) that I haven't really written anything lately, I wrote this.  Mojo did a very good cover of it - but as I listened I thought it was missing something - so I added a verse and made a couple changes here and there.  This is my final version ( for now  wink  )
It's really kind of a true depiction of what happens to me all the time.
so here it is.....

Something To Believe In By Jim Kenyon

[G] All my life I’ve been wondering, [C]how things came to [G]be

[G]Seems there’s always been angels, [D]watching over me

When[G]ever I’ve faced trouble, I just [C] looked up to the sky

and most [G]times I've seen feathers, with my [D]troubles flying [G]by

.

[G]Life sure ain't easy,lots of[C] tests to try my [G]faith

[G] on more than one occasion angels [D]were my saving grace

When[G]ever I’ve faced trouble, I just [C] looked up to the sky

'Cause I[G] think I'll see feathers with my [D]troubles passing [G]by

.

Chorus

[G] oh we need [C]something to believe in, some[G]thing that brings us hope

[G] we need [D]something to believe in, some[C]thing to soothe our[G]soul

If I [C]was a true believer, I’d be [G]down upon my knees

and [D]thanking all my angels, for [C]watching over [G] me

[D]thanking all my angels, for [C]watching over [G] me

.

[G] In my youth I was reckless, didn’t [C]have too many [G]cares

[G]Always looking for adventures, to[D] carry me somewhere

But when[G]ever I’d faced trouble, I'd just [C] look up to the sky

and I[G] swear I’d see those feathers, with my [D]troubles flying [G]by

.

[G]now that i am older, I still [C]climb the highest [G]trees

[G] but there's times when this ol' world, can still [D]get the best of me

and when [G]life gets me down, I just [C]look to the sky and pray

I'll see [G] angel feathers coming, to [D]take my cares a[G]way

.

Chorus

[G] oh we need [C]something to believe in, some[G]thing that brings us hope

[G] we need [D]something to believe in, some[C]thing to soothe our [G]soul

If I [C]was a true believer, I’d be [G]down upon my knees

and [D]thanking all my angels, [C] watching over [G] me

[D]thanking all my angels, for [C]watching over [G] me

Out go

.

now I[C]am a true believer, and I'm [G]down upon my knees

and [D]thanking thanking all my angels, for [C]watching over [G] me

slower

yeah now I[C]am a true believer, and I’m [G]down upon my knees

and [D]thanking the good Lord for always [C]looking out for [G] me

a great song of faith. i bet that Taylor sounds good with a capo?

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Something To Believe In

Jim  I love those lyrics of yours and the way they make the story of faith being available to an individual to choose in everyday life if they so want.  The art of calling out to a higher power and believing. That is what I used to love about a lot of Johnny Cash's songs. I will attach a link to Johnny's sister Joanne Cash singing about it recently.

Jim, I just looked through your words again and I have a question; when you refer to "feathers" is that a salute to Forest Gump? if so it doesn't make you a tealeaf LOL

A local character that Easybeat and I know is known locally by people in our suburban valley as Feathers due to his  last name being Eagle.
