I thought I'd commented on these first ones a while ago, but seems my comments went missing ...
I named it Movin' On.

I love it - Scott really makes it flow, his playing style reminds me of a guy I used to jam with ... there's a bit that reminds me of the Cat Stevens song (think it was from Peace Train??)
Good to see you joining in - hope to hear more!!
I did this instrumental a while back based on the "House of the rising sun"
Nice, I like the way you've arranged this, and the organ (?) in the background sounds very etheral
Good to see you joining in - hope to hear more!!
Great offerings from Joe, Tony and Richard. Are they your youngsters in the background, Richard?

I've never heard "Black is the colour" before, you did a great version of it!!!
"Going home" was pretty good too, but you've got a good voice and should do more vocal songs!!!!

I have been away for a few days and catching up. We have some amazing talent. Jandle really good and enjoyed yours and listened twice.
Thanks for the feedback; hope you can add some of your recordings to the mix (next month has been nominated to have some instrumentals, so if you did the recording of "Dueling Banjos", it's the perfect time to link to it ...)
Thanks neo and CG for having a listen and your comments appreciate it
CG so great to see you join in here as well, thanks and hope to see more of you in here
It's always a pleasure to listen to your tunes - hoping you drag out the electric, when time permits ...

Ok here is one of the songs I had time to do a quick cover of today Jolene https://soundcloud.com/ukulelejan/jolene
Hoping to get some more done before the month runs out.
I had already done Elvira previously for another Chordie FSOTM https://soundcloud.com/ukulelejan/elvira
Jolene sounds pretty good - it was a bit slower than I remember it being, but your voice suited the song well ...
I think I commented on this one before (possibly in the previous FSOTM
), but I still like this one, I hadn't heard it before being on Chordie ...
Ok, I recorded another one tonight at 10.30pm, figured it is the only time before the end of this month that I am going to get a chance to do another Cover from the list above. Gee wish I had more time as there are quite a few I would like to attempt on that list. Anyway, outta time for me.
Yer, same here, wish there was more time ...
So here is my attempt at Angie by the Rolling Stones, 'mistakes' and all which you will hear after my 3rd attempt as it was getting late, my hubby in bed trying to sleep and I am in here singing and strumming loudly (poor guy lol). Anyway, kinda a funny song to sing since it is meant to be a guy singing a song about a woman and here I am singing it lol .... oh well I like the song, it was a fun song to try and cover. Just wish I had more time to practice this one.
https://soundcloud.com/ukulelejan/angie
Sounds pretty good, I was also feeling the 'gender imbalance' when I did 'Joey', as it's a girl singing to a guy, so I just imagined it was for 'Josephine', or something like that ![]()

Re: MARCH 2018 FSOTM - MALE & FEMALE NAMES (39 replies, posted in Featured Song of the Month)
neo ... thanks for that re the info on Imovie ... I will have to have a look at the program at some stage. I remember some of the other visuals you did on some of your other songs on you tube which were good too but that one really was good for that particular song I thought. Bit the same with the echo, which on other songs you have done sounded really good so I wonder if it depend on the song choice? Interesting anyway how it works aye
Yes, but it can also depend on so many other things, like the listeners mood (are they receptive to the idea?), the screen settings (does it do it justice), and the song (do I like this song, am I ready to view an interpretation of it), I've found the same thing with echo/reverb - sometimes you get that perfect speed which enhances the song, as it's on the same frequency as the original chord vibrations, othertimes it can make it sound 'muddy' ....

Re: MARCH 2018 FSOTM - MALE & FEMALE NAMES (39 replies, posted in Featured Song of the Month)
neo ... had a listen to both. ~Rome and Juliet~ you covered and performed so well, it suited you very much vocally (probably your best yet in my opinion) and also you played it very well on the guitar. I liked the video visually how you added the blurry screen around it (which program did you use to video record it like that?). Excellent cover by you, the whole package.
~Joey-Concrete Blonde~ I hadn`t actually heard this song before so after listening to your cover I went online and listened to the original version. Maybe one comment would be a little to much echo on your recording? but then I am no expert, just how it sounded to my ear
Thanks for your comments - I try and keep it simple by recording the video on my iPhone (5se), then transfer that across to the Mac and use iMovie to add the reverb/echo, titles and any video effects - iMovie is a pretty basic program, and I'm sure I've hit the limits on what it can do (some time ago), but for a freebie it's pretty good. Unfortunately there is no 'granular' control over the , which gives the 'too much echo' scenario ... one day I'll get my audio interface out, record the audio into Logic on the Mac (as separate channels), which I'll then be able to tweak correctly, but then I'll probably get carried away and add drums and bass to the mix ...
Cheers
Richard

Neo ..... yep does seem very quiet in here with only you and Roger entering anything this month.
Yes, hearing the crickets chirping in the background ... and no Buddy Holly ... !!
I have just got back on Monday from yet another trip way up north (once again) to yet another family funeral (3 since Christmas) hence not being onto any recordings myself. So hoping now I am back, to be able to get onto it.
Sorry for your loss, always makes it a tough time ... ![]()
Thanks to you and Roger and Neo, wow you have once again earned the the title ~The Human Jukebox~ with all your contributions
I had a listen to your songs last night. There were some in there I hadn't heard of before so always good to hear new songs. As for Julia Dream and Roxanne you made them interesting with the reverb or delay on? the effects definately added to the songs
Mrs Brown you`ve got a lovely daughter, was foot tapping material and the voices at the end made it interesting
Angie (a song I have always liked) you covered well and I found myself singing along with you. Also congratulations on your original song Margaret`s Eulogy, anyone who writes an original deserves a medal.
Thanks for all your kind words ... I've got a few more which I've recorded but haven't edited and put onto YouTube yet ... still a few more days ...
Cheers
Richard
