lmao at jollywolly's comment,

"This doesn't reflect any big brain on my part.
I've played this for 40+ years  and learned it
from the original sheet music."

sheer snobbery, I love laughing at snobs withtheir self centred ego tripping comments.

so ye didnt need a big brain as in a clever brain to work something out? good on ye snob

played for 40 years? so yer a master at the guitar yet I have not seen ye on tv I dont think, snob

and eeewww congrats ye can read sheet music, so can I but I would rather read the chords like they are wrote down on chordie ya snob.

Looks like yer first post in chordie was to let everyone know how great you are. and also if I am not mistaken the content you got removed ( because you couldnt be bothered to read any rules for chordie) was correcting a song that was on chordie?
Chordie takes songs from.......na, stuff it, read the resources yerself to find out what chordie is all about.

Also I would like to inform you that sheet music you buy in the shops is not always correct. Sheet music ye get is not always the stuff the band has written but someone elses interpetation of the music

now, have you got anything nice to say? I have to those that are nice but not to snobs

you would not get everyone willing to pay.
Also I think out of the 250,000 folk not everyone still uses choride, lots just register to spam, they get banned but the name still remains and I thin kthey remain on the list.
So lets say out of the 250,00 175,000 use chordie for what it was made for, and say only 100,00 are willing to pay a small fee of £5. that is still half a million pound sterling, about just under a million dollas. I dont think the music and record companies could object to that too much.

I wonder how much the music industry would want. Would it be a set fee or a percentage of how many users are on?

there was a questionaire a while ago that Per had a link to. It asked IF it came to it would you be prepared to pay a subscription and he asked how much as well as a load of other questions.
I have no idea what the result of this was.
But I said £5 a year would seem to be quite fair for songs/lyrics etc.

as far as I know chordie is still going strong with the odd wee upset here and there like beatles songs getting blocked and other artists not getting shown because of the original website they come from do not want chordie to have them.

I cannot see chordie closing down, not with the number of folk that use it and willing to help like yerselves.

All of it is true,

so lets have another new sticky lol

I have no other reason than the one or two i have mentioned but they can all be over ruled by myself leaving me with no argument against.

lol
let us start a protest.
WE WANT A STICKY WE WANT A STICKY, GEE US A STICKY NOO, WE WANT IT NOO GEE US A STICKY

pointing something out is fair enough but if folk opened their eyes and looked for an answer to start wit hthen thats better.
Folk in general are just too lazy and want everything thrown straight at them when asked.
I love helping folk and I would direct them to resources or a sticky but all I am saying is they should look a bit harder first.
Even look for a post with the same question !! folk wont even do that a lot of the time.
i.e. a thread on about chordie is titled " how do i add a song to my songbook" then 4 threads down in perfect view is " I want to add a song to my songbook" ( this is just an example so no need to go and look to see) it happens a lot. We all seen it with the " EDIT BUTTON" we had at least 4 threads all on the same subject.

if you are one of these lazy bone dile computer illiterate folk I am talking about then take heed, it is easy to loook.

( I must have got out the wrong side of bed today, I love ye all really, even the lazy ones) lol lol

I dont know if ye will get many chordians replying saying they can sing in case it makes them look big headed,

I can sing, I think i have an alright voice sometimes and then other times not.

I think my voice is more suited to folkie sort of songs. I dont think i am much good at singing heavy rock songs unless I make them sound a bit tamer, but I can sing a few sex pistols songs and slf and clash.

maybe some people that think they cannot sing are just singing the wrong genre of music?

Yeah, I am great, I love me.

Yer right Roger,
Hardly anyone reads sticky's

they dont even read the resources page that would answer a lot of questions folk keep asking time and time again.

well instead of it being on the tuning peg, just have a cross over the string.
just like in tab

so have the circles where your fingers go on a fret and a cross on the first fret if the string does not get played?

Just a thought.

I am really glad I read this post. And you will be too.
I have the perfect song. if you read the lyrics ye will love them, hear the song and ye will just have to learn it. It is fairly easy and is superb. I have had a few comments about this when me and my mate play/sing it.

Love song by Tesla    http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.l … e_song.tab

it says it is tabbed and it is but it also has the chords.
I sorted this out into word to get rid of tab so it was just lyrics and chords.

If you get to listen to this on spotify or pandora or if you know it already and want my word document  send me an email and i will gladly send you a copy.

I might even have the song on my computer wink who knows

hi jlv

good tool.

Now you want my opinion,.lol

When it shows not to play a string i.e not to play the E string it is shown as a red cross on the tuning peg. This is not very obvious to see.

Also I think after you choose your root it should remember it for if you have made a mistake and want to try again in the same root.

other than that I think this is good for anyone that wants to learn more chords.

Oh wait, just thought of another useful thing it could have.

If someone can click on the fret on the guitar for where fingers go and it shows what the chord is.

lol,
I dont mind if ye changed the name. I always call it green fields of france too. I tihnk Eric Bogle doesnt mind as he knows most know it as this since the fury's had a bigger hit with it.

the canary wharf boming ended the ceasefire in 1996. I had to look that up as I was in London at the time and I didnt think it was in 1997.

Only song I wished that he had done was " as if he knows" about a horse in the first world war. The soldiers were not allowed to take the horses back to Australia because of quarantine issues. They didnt mind the french getting the horses as they treated them well but they did not want to give the palestinians their horses as they treated them really bad. So instead they saw the best option was to shoot the horse dead. Lyrics here  http://ericbogle.net/lyrics/lyricspdf/asifheknows.pdf

I just think Eric's songwriting for lyrics are superb.
A few other great lyrical songs are
At risk
A reason for it all.
Glasgow lullabye
when the wind blows

I could write a bigger list.lol. Na, I will sto pthere

hi miss,

I am not going to give you a straight answer here I am afraid.

Phil's program was only last year, lol. and he has another one ready to go I think.

anyway, if you cannot find it I would suggest going to Phil's website and contacting him. He is a great friendly guy that will reply to you if you email and ask. I will not guarantee he will give you the sheet music or that he will not be too busy to sit and type down the chords for you, but he might be able to steer you in the right direction
it is worth a go.

i have tried jamplay and thought it was quite good and supportive.
So it cost a wee bit of money but I dont think it is over priced ( and I am scottish and known as being a tight fisted bllleeeeeeppp)
Some might think here I am saying this because jamplay sponsors chordie but I say it how I see it and I like it
Not only has it blues but also many differnt types of music.

Not too sure but I think there is a sample of it on jamplay. If not then I wouldnt pay up first, I would like a demo of what I was paying for

hi Steve Welcome Steve.

Sounds like you have got ample chords to start strumming away with.

Go get yerself 5 songs and spend time doing them. Make sure your first 5 are songs you really like and will enjoy playing and ones you think you will not get sick of.
go find a few easy ones with 3 or 4 chords.
If I were you I would go for a song with G,C,Am,D etc, or D,A,G  or E A B

sweet
hi ands welcome to chordie

yer post has confused me and makes me think you have not read anything in the resources section.

if you are asking someone to send you them personally after you could not find them in chordie then you should ask in the rellevant section " song requests"

if you have seen them in chordie and still wanting someone to emai lthe mto you then this baffles me

if you are asking for someone to put them into chordie's index then i suggest you read resources on how to add a song into chordie's index.

if you think a lot of people will reply after you have highjacked a thread about adding a song to a personal songbook then think yourself lucky i have replied to you. You should have started a new thread of your own instead of adding it at the end of an irellevant question to yours

If your thanks was a prethanked signing off then yer probably not even reading this and I have wasted my time trying to guide you.

Went to see Eric Bogle and John Munro play last night in glasgow's old fruit market hall. 1st time in there and I was impressed. It didnt look like a sort of music venue at all, and also the acoustics were ptretty good too.

They came on stage at 8pm, went off for a half hour break at 9:30pm then from 10pm until 10:45 when he finished.
The two of them were in fine form even though this was their 70th gig since the end of May when they started their tour of britain. The patter from them was very witty.
I think John Munro especially enjoyed playing there as he was originally from Maryhill (just down the road from the fruit market) he had  some old friends and girlfriends there as well as Eric's Auntie.
they done classic songs like "NO man's land", " and now im easy" " and the band played waltzing matilda" ( the best version I have heard him perform) " a candle lit from a candle"
and many many more toe tapping stuff as well as his sad not so toe tapping stuff.
He done a few new songs that is on his new CD which were very good, especially hearing them for the first time. Only one I can remember a name was " bring billy home" another anti war song.
Eric said " someone asked me when I am going to stop writing anti war songs" his reply to them was " when there are no wars to write about"

He told another funny story before singing No man's land AKA green fields of france ( it changed to green fields of france after the fury Brothers from Ireland decided to change the name but Eric had patented both names)
In 1997 when tony Blair became prime minister he got a letter from a 10 year old girl from Northern ireland saying how she wanted Tony to make sure there was peace in Northern ireland as she never knew what life was like with peace. Tony replied to her and invited her to 10 Downing street for a P.R excerise. He presented the little girl with a gift. It was What Toney Blair said was his favourite poem. It was in fact No man's land. It was in a frame and titled " Green Fields of France". Tony Blair told her it was written by a scottish man in the first world war and he is now dead.
Eric Bogle's auntie read this in a national paper and phoned Eric to tell him. She said she was going to sort this out. She wrote a letter to Tony Blair saying she was the aunt of eric Bogle the writer of No MANS LAND a.k.a Green fields of france, Tony's favourite poem. She told him the correct name and also told him that Eric was alive and well and to get his facts right before talking rubbish. She got an embarrassing letter back from 10 downing street. She also wrote to the Herald that said Eric was dead and gave them a bit of lip. Eric was touring britain at the time and she gave them the full tour schedule.

This was his retirement tour, he is 65 this year but he said he wants to come back in a bout 4 years time with his wife and do one final wee tour of scotland. I will attend this.
