Your student is adorable, but I'd worry about turning off the many, many users of the site who are absolute beginners in their 40s and 50s and 60s by having a young child as the banner.

I let people play my guitars. Instruments are meant to be played.

I'd like a K&K Pure 12 String pickup and an LR Baggs M1 Passive pickup. Active would be OK too.

I already ordered a quiver and a site for my 3D bow. My wife will give me that. I'm considering some new arrows for my target bow for her to give me.

So... November's song was Cherry Cherry.  But while I was digging around in Neil Diamond songs, I came across Solitary Man and all I needed to do for that to get it ready was to learn the intro.  So this month's song has been Solitary Man.  Maybe Cherry Cherry will be December.  But you'd think it ought to be a Christmas song.  This is going to require more discipline in guitar playing than I bring to it.

Zurf - From what you've told me about Garuchi, he will fit right in and I'm looking forward to meeting him!

He'll want to make the electric event for sure.  He's a great campfire picker but the things he does with an electric ought to be illegal.  And maybe they are, but probably not in Florida.

Gary, aka Garuchi, is planning to come this year. He bought a new car, so hopefully he won't get stranded along I-95.

Yeah Bill I've seen those. I've also seen a copper one sold by Macallan (I think) that you can just jam regular ice in to and after a few minutes - poof! There it is.

I drink too fast to make a fancy schmancy ice cube worth the investment.

If you drink fast, then the ice hardly melts.  Seems like a good investment to me!  You can cool two or maybe three drinks with the fancy schmancy ice.  That's what Topdown told me anyway.  I wouldn't know from my own experience...  roll

Drink the bourbon first then play with the knobs!

That's how I do it, which may go a long way towards explaining the results.

Sure.  Blame me.  :-)

Have one leader per song. Everyone needs to know who that one person is.

Thanks.  I'll look for that DVD and CD.  I love Vol I.  What's that song with the Monkeyman?  I don't remember, but I like it.

The most important thing of playing with a band is finding a rock steady bass player.  That's my opinion.

And being close to the fret in important. It takes a lot less pressure to get a clean note as you get closer to the fret.

$600 range.  Not Yamaha beginner packages, but not high end either.

I love shopping at mom and pop stores for instruments. So much more personal.

That depends.  It's possible for the Mom and Pop (or in my experience, Mom and Pop's eldest son) to care a little too much.  I've gone shopping for acoustics and been forced to sit on a stool in the middle of a big area and have guitars brought to me, after my clothes were inspected for buttons, zippers, and I was made to wear an apron and wash my hands before being allowed to touch an instrument.  Other times I have been in that store and was only permitted to hear the instrument be played by the store clerk.  I don't buy guitars there.  I do buy guitars from another store in the chain where the owner is a bit more relaxed.

We migrated my wifes computer from 8.1 to 10. The drivers all work now and her computer shows video, whereas it didn't before.

With a Breedlove, a Martin, and a Guild, my guitars aren't what you're finding.  I do my homework first.  She's been supportive of my guitar habit.  That said, I have to fit them all in my office, and with the three aforementioned guitars plus a fiddle, an autoharp, three amps, a PA, an electric Ibanez, and two electric basses, I've about reached my limit.  There's space for one more guitar on the stand and I'm thinking a Taylor nylon string AE with a cutaway.  Or possibly a The Loar archtop acoustic.  It's hard to say.  I better buy a quad rack instead of a triple and then I can get both.

Hmmm.  What was the topic again?

Looks like your 'bourbon" has been supplanted by water (frozen and liquid)! Too bad.

It's a bourbon ball.  A big honking ice sphere to cool the bourbon with maximal surface area and minimal meltage.  It works pretty well.  Topdown first turned me on to them.  When you decide to get back to practicing and come out here to pick a few tunes, I'll demonstrate their beneficial qualities to you.

Purty.

Do you do a lot of songs you haven't actually heard before? That's a pretty fun idea.

All the ones I've stolen from the Songwriting forum. With credit of course. Selso's song about the hippy chick, John's song about the Country Life, and so on. But others too. Sometimes when I'm looking for one song I come across a chord chart, and if I like the lyrics I'll give them a go even if I don't know how it goes. I've never been one to let ignorance, shame, or an utter lack of competency stand in the way.

I remember you playing it Beamer. I think it's a good song and enjoyed hearing a different arrangement. You know how I am about covers. New and different arrangements are always appreciated.
