I would love to visit America, although I'll leave the shucking & silking to the experts. At the moment a holiday in America seems a strong possibility. We usually visit the Greek islands, but the way their economy is going I'm not to sure. How are things back in Crete Graham, have you heard anything?
I heard on the news Greece is only allowing people to take out 60 euros a day and the banks are closed for a week.

To all the Canucks on Chordie, a very "Happy Canada Day".
Our country is very different than it was at Confederation (1867) and not all of the changes have been for the better (IMHO). However, we still have a great many civil liberties and freedoms which allow us to enjoy good music & good books, have a job, own a home, raise a family, fish for trout, worship as we please, express our views publicly, hug our wives & children, and so much more. Hope everyone enjoys the festivities, BBQ's, fireworks, and family gatherings!
DITTO all the above, dont forget you have the Brady Bunch during Football season!!

so what determines member status? I just noticed that my profile says member now . I missed it when it changed from Jr. member. I see some that are Sr. members and honored members. is there a criteria for advancement or do the chordie royalty arbitrarily bestow titles and knight hood to favored members (joking here) just curious
Hi mojo, 100 posts = senior member,1000 posts and up you become and stay a Honered member.

Thanks for the info, guys, Zurf especially! Looks like I need to do the research!
You might want too call your CoastGuard or the U.K. versionof it and see what the would recommend. You might also try a Harbor master. The U.S. Navy Seals use inflatable boats and so do some of the other armed services.

Re: Easy chords to All Along The Watchtower (9 replies, posted in Acoustic)
You're right, my friend --- those are the chords, but the changes are too fast for me. I'm not sure, but I'm thinking I could leave one of those fast-changes out and stay with the one before it. Is that possible? F to Am is where my problem lies. Not the chords - those I can do - but the speed at which they change. A chord per word, almost.
Thanks for the correction, Dino
Bill
Bill you can make it your song you can go slower or faster, and also try it without using the f chord all the time.

Re: Easy chords to All Along The Watchtower (9 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Thanks Dino, I did find an easier way: Am, G and F. It's on Munsonmusic - YouTube. The Dylan version is what threw me. There's also one with capo on the 4th fret - same chords. I'm gonna try 'em both.
Thanks, my friend!
Bill
Those are the one's Dylan uses and hendrix as well.

Re: Inflatable Kayaks (8 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
If you have a high quality inflatable, rocks and hooks are unlikely to penetrate. You still have to be pretty careful, especially with knives, but there's tons of things that can poke through or tear a hard shell kayak too if one isn't aware. If you have a pool toy, bad things can happen in pretty much any circumstance.

I agree with that zurf.

Re: The Labyrinth (16 replies, posted in Songwriting)
I like the writing as well Graham, it is very, very poignant and astute .
I believe there are several root problems, which includes what Dino alluded to - political failure (politicians that run for office making empty promises that never are fulfilled), as well as individual failure and motivation. But even that ( individual failure) is rooted deeply in government failure, as (at least in the U.S.) we provide gobs of money and benefits to those who are less fortunate - for doing nothing ( and in some cases it the amount they receive is based on the number of children - hence - they just keep having them. . A person that is a desperate situation has little motivation to seek employment when they can make more at home receiving welfare benefits. The rich ( including the politicians don't care b/c they have great lawyers and accountants to figure their way around financial responsibility, and pass it along to the working class to provide the tax funding. If you think about the gov't housing projects that you visited, it is really a unique plan by politicians and the wealthy to contain what they view as lower class citizens and a social disease into one carefully selected area - away from where they live.
Now don't get my message wrong, I am firmly supportive of aiding individuals families lies that are in need and are attempting to find a better life, but those that sit back and just rape the gov't assistant plans are leeches. I totally agree that education is a major tool that has to be improved in many cases, but I believe taking action against the rampant drug problems in these areas is more urgent and vital. But as you indicated, police are not interested in going into those areas, due to safety of course, but I think more so b/c of learned helplessness over the past decades. Simply put - their risks are not worth the rewards in those areas.
Ok - off my soapbox ---- Great literature on a social situation Graham - can't wait to hear the soulful music you attach to the message.
Jim
Tig I agree with all you said above that is a good soap box speech.
