Re: Bass Guitar Question: Short Scale VS Long Scale? (13 replies, posted in Electric)
I tend to agree it has to feel good short or long I got lucky I found an old Silvertone bass that needed some work I put in new humbucking pickups and lowered the neck action Zurf sent me some light guage bass strings that really worked out well so don't rule out used gear in you quest ![]()

Finely finished just have to set the intonation I played it a little WOW! those True coil tex pickups are really hot and the Wilkerson Tremolo is everything and more I took a lot of photos of the construction and I have some original music to add to it right now I have a miserable head cold so it will be a few days before I can assemble everything record and edit the video but it was really a worthwhile project I love this guitar ![]()

You're going to have that Rondo "Strat" tricked out in real style, Russell ... can't wait to see the finished product. When you say the frets are too small, are you speaking of the distance between them (i.e., the scale length) or the height / size of the fretwires themselves?
It will be hot when its done, The frets feel like there not wide enough both ways there is nothing wrong with the neck except the crappy tuners actually its fast I just don't like it and I want a maple neck its just a matter of taste someone else may find it fine ![]()

50 years ago I was 22 seems like yesterday(no pun intended) I was with a band called the "Mojo Men" we were rehearsing when the Beatles came on the Ed Sullivan show we watched it and that evening we started working on Beatles songs we had a gig in a club downtown in Milwaukee and we played several Beatles songs the audience loved it I think we were the 1st group to cover there songs in Milwaukee's clubs but not for long on a side note Lonnie Mack performed in the same club he played his hit "Memphis" his amp was an old Magnagtone but it sounded fantastic ![]()

Re: New Guitar Day (44 replies, posted in Electric)
The wiring harness was out of stock so I had to order the 250k pots, orange drop capacitor and selector switch I may also have to replace the existing wiring so in effect I am assembling a guitar to my specifications the list of parts include
maple neck
Fender locking tuners
Wilkerson tremolo
body
3 pickups (wiring diagram included)
new pots and wire
I orange drop capacitor
I can use the existing string trees and neck mounting screws back plate and chrome input cover but that's all I am going to video tape my progress and I have a friend who will assist me with the wiring so I don't mess it up the total cost of all the parts is in the $340 range but compared to the cost of a American built standard Stratocaster with my equipment ($1700.00) its a bargain it will be a fine instrument when completed ![]()
I decided to order three of these for the control knobs and today I mount the neck and tremolo still waiting for the last items a new 5 way switch and chrome jack input cover these are the control knobs I am getting

Re: New Guitar Day (44 replies, posted in Electric)
This is one of the items I purchased the Fender locking tuners arrived yesterday. its a Wilkerson tremolo I have to widen the outside holes to mount the studs but that is easy this is one fine trem system.

I went with these pickups over the Becks they should arrive tomorrow

Alright... Day after.
The question is "Where does the Seahawks' defense sit in relation to other great defenses?"
This is an article that I think is a bit too hard on Manning, but gets the defensive aspect right.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1945 … ?hpt=hp_c2
Seattle, in an era of football where the rules overwhelmingly aid the offense, set defensive records and managed to stop the most prolific offense in history dead cold.
We can argue all day about final placement (85' Bears? No-Name Defense? Purple People Eaters? Iron Curtain?) but "Legion of Boom" is definitely in that mix somewhere.
I have to agree they were awesome but don't forget the Packers and Ray Nitchke era they won the first two Superbowls and under Lombardy they were a Dynasty and still hold the record for most championship wins Seattle did well this is there first they have a great organization and a lot of young talent lets see if they can repeat that's the tough part.

On Jimmy Fallon last night they had there "Puppy predictions" two bowls of food were put on stage one with the Denver logo and one with the Seahawks then they released the puppys whichever bowl they ate out of determined the winner and both went straight for the Denver Broncos none even looked at the Seahawks so I am picking Denver in a close game ![]()

Re: Just broke the neck on my SG (18 replies, posted in Electric)
If the SG had a bolt on neck you may be able to find a replacement from Mity Mite or google the SG neck and see what comes up I know the feeling I have dealt with many accidents and other types (bar fights) and the back end of a strat is a formidable weapon for defense
