Well done once again Jim and Phill, I just had a listen. I am a bit like Peatle, I wasn't expecting to hear it performed this way (not sure how I expected to hear it ).... but good on you for trying something different. What programme have you used on it Phill? it kinda had an echo effect and almost made it sound like it was going around and around the echo effect.

mojo ....I haven`t even heard of Chris Cornell and I am going to have ago lol ............. I was meant to go pick one the other night of his to attempt but it didn`t work out as ended up with a sick grandchild. So hoping tonight to attempt one of his if i get the chance. As for Bobby Mcgee, might try it again but hmmmmm can`t seem to nail the end bit, might have to just leave it out. Don`t want to deafen ya all with my screeching to hit the notes lol. Oh yeah and my guitar and or ukulele playing leaves a lot to be desired I have decided *sigh*

Re: ENTER YOUR NAME FOR A CHANCE TO PICK THE FSOTM FOR JULY 2017 (24 replies, posted in Featured Song of the Month)
Just wondering if we could do a group song.
everyone sing one line eg` we are the world`/band aid. etc.
maybe `all you need is love` or `a little help from my friends`
i`m sure one of the clever guys could do a backing track & patch it all together?
would only be worth doing if we had a commitment from 6 plus chordians.
What Ya Think?
Hey easybeat,
great idea. If you want to organise it, by all means go for it. You would have to organise someone who can do the backing track, the song, the people who want to perform in it, get the backing track to all the participants so they can record themselves singing to it and get them all to send their singing back to the person who you have organised to put it all together etc. It could work, would be fun, but would take a bit of orgainsing which i haven`t got time to organise at the moment .... but if your happy to organise this idea of yours, go for it. When it is ready to go, we could put it up as a FSOTM. ![]()

I've already had the opportunity to pick one...let someone else.
Jim
Hey Jim,
it doesn`t really matter if you have entered your name before, as there have been a few people put their name in before and have been lucky enough to be choosen to pick a song more than once .... it really is just the luck of the draw on whose name comes out of the hat. Makes it more interesting as well when there are more names to put in the hat ![]()

Re: JUNE 2017 FSOTM - BOBBY McGEE - CHRIS CORNELL (28 replies, posted in Featured Song of the Month)
Anymore folks going to have ago at these two songs? I have tried a few times to do Bobbie McGee ............. that`s as far as I got ........ i get to the end bit and end up sounding like a screeching banshee lol as I attempt to perform it like Janis Joplin or Pink ( by the way i have listened to Pinks version quite a few times - I love her version of it!).
I have to be honest and say i don`t know any of Chris Cornell`s music. So I will go online later today and pick the first one that comes up that I think i could possibly attempt (haha) and try and see what i can do with it.

Re: Seven Times { revisted} (14 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Hi Jim.
It's a song but not as I know it! It's so confusing...two lines that rhyme, one that doesn't, then a fourth line that rhymes with the first two? I said confusing not bad. I wish I had the guts and the talent to do it.
I then listened to your recording....first line is five beats, second is four beats etc I also noticed one or two lines with just three! As I said confusing. I'm a strict 4/4 or 3/4 kinda guy which is why when I've covered one of your songs I normalise them to suit my style. I realise now I might have been wrong?
You're writing talent is phenomenal and I intend to give this a close look and play later, warning, I may need to alter a few things to suit my style...again.Didn't you wake the house up banging out on the guitar at 4.45 am?
Hmmm I think that is my trouble exactly Phill ......... my timing can be ALL OVER THE PLACE too and I don`t strictly stick to 4/4 or 3/4 timing (I do with cover songs - mostly) but when it comes to original songs, I can be all over the place. The last time I tried to cover one of Jim`s song and my son was going to use his fancy recording equipment to record me and I was supposed to sing the song to the set beats ................ I was all over the place (as I just sing it as I hear it or can play it lol) ......... ended up my son quitting on me, told me he couldn`t record me lol. The outcome since then ....... I haven`t recorded another original song as I realized I am not keeping time. Probably comes from only learning to play instruments and trying to sing publically in the last few years ...... being self taught probably doesn`t help either lol ![]()

Re: Where is everyone? (23 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I pop in when I can but it has turned out to be quite a hectic year for us this year, with two sick elderly parents, the birth of our 2nd grandson who was premature and was in the neo-natal unit, thankfully out and doing well now, one of my sons has got engaged, another son has headed away to the South Island to follow the snow and have been busy sewing curtains for his van and mattress covers, helping out my daughter with her son when I can and indoor and outdoor renovations (yay ... mud outside and dust inside) .............. that pretty much keeping me busy.
Keepitreal .... sorry to hear of your sad news.
Doug_Smith ..... thanks for dealing with all the rubbish that comes to chordie, namely spam ![]()
