Woke up this morning -  and had this idea in my head about  when people meet the crossroad - and have to decide whether or not to fall in love again.

Lost Lover’s Lullaby by  Jim Kenyon

[G]there’s a part of her [D]heart that’s off [Am] limits

oh [G]someone, somewhere [D]broke it in her [C]past

[G] hard to offer her [D]innocence [Am]again

as [C]somehow the love and [D]pain both seem to [G]last

.

Chorus

But she [C]smiles when she hears that tender love song [G] play

just an [C]old tune that reminds her of better [G]days

makes her [C]wonder if she’ll give love another [G] try

Well you [D]know it’s just a [C]lost lover’s lulla[G]by

yeah you [D]know it’s just a [C]lost lover’s lulla[G]by

.

[G]Alone and confused, it's [D] hard to find her [Am]way

she[G] still doesn’t under[D]stand what went [C]wrong

[G]All she wanted was [D] someone that she could [Am]trust

but [C]now she hides her heart and [D] tries to be[G] strong

.

Chorus (2x)

But she [C]smiles when she hears that tenderlove song [G] play

just an [C]old tune that reminds her of better [G]days

makes her [C]wonder if she’ll give love another [G] try

Well you [D]know it’s just a [C]lost lover’s lulla[G]by

yeah you [D]know it’s just a [C]lost lover’s lulla[G]by

.

yea she [C]smiles when she hears that tenderlove song [G] play

Brick and Mortar BEAMER and TIGLJK

Brick & Mortar

Verse 1

[G]Brick and mortar, oh they build those walls,

[Em]they block a heart whenever love calls

[C]Diamonds are forever but they can’t pay the toll.

[D]as iron forged from earth, wraps around my soul.

Verse 1

[G]Oh Brick and Mortar they can’t block the pain.

[Em]from the heartacheof being alone again

[C]Memories won’t let me practice what I preach

[D]They leave me searching for what’s out of reach

.

Chorus

[C] so take my hand and walk with me

[G] open up your soul and set it free

[C] smash these walls that keep us apart

[D]open your eyes, n’ feel with your heart

[C]end the pain that our hearts feel

[G]that only time and truth reveal

[C]find a way to smile from inside.

[D] tear downs the walls that[C] make us [G]cry

(Repeat second verse)

[G]Oh Brick and Mortar they can’t block the pain.

[Em]from the heartache of being alone again

[C]Memories won’t let me practice what I preach

[D]They leave me searching for what’s out of reach

Chorus

[C] so take my hand and walk with me

[G] open up your soul and set it free

[C] smash these walls that keep us apart

[D]open your eyes, n’ feel with your heart

[C]end the pain that our hearts feel

[G]that only time and truth can heal

[C]find a way to smile from inside.

[D] tear downs the walls that[C] make us [G]cry

outgo ( a little slower)

yeah, tear downs the walls that [C]make us [G]cry

yeah, tear downs the walls that [C]make us [G]cry

Beamer
I agree with Phill and CG - great little poem. It contains a lot of imagery and self-reflection.
I think a great title would come from the line " Maybe Tomorrow",
If done in your genre, it would suit it like  a metal amalgam perfectly!
This poem is like a seeing glass into your mind set. Hope you get out of the floccinaucinihilipilification
[flok-suh-naw-suh-nahy-hil-uh-pil-uh-fi-key-shuhn] funk soon as you have so much to offer.
I was thinking yesterday that you should get one of those blank journal books and put one of your songs / poems-  one each - on a page - then when you get to the last page and fill it - close the book and move on - just a way of setting a goal and maybe finding a path to healing.

Beamer - can't wait til you do it - I actually think it is a good song lyric for your style.

Thanks

JIm

This is the link to the song I posted earlier this month called Innocent Hearts

same old, same old _ bad singing voice, sub par guitar work, but I think a pretty good lyric.

Thanks for giving it a listen

Richard

I like it !
Being  history teacher it was even more fascinating. I love songs that illuminate the human struggle, and how simple lives should be honored as great contributors as well as the rich that men tht got all the credit.
Well done my friend.

Jim

PS - I love the dinosaur shirt.  !!

Thanks Jeff for the kindness.

I have re-written some of the lyric and tried to make the phrasing fit better to the chord sequence.
That's the real hard part for me in writing b/c I haven't got a musical base to work from.
If I could actually sing and play it would help !
I'm going to try to  record it today - we'll see how it goes.
Thanks again

He is real good.  All that percussion stuff must take a lot of practice.
He looked like he was real happy with his performance at the end.

He kind of reminded a bit of Elvis Costello.

Thanks for sharing TF

Talented band !
Singer has a great voice although when it got modified ( I assume by some peddle or something) it scared me.  I cant imagine if that was real and she could do that - I'd be petrified to sleep with her ! smile

How do they do that voice thing anyway ?

A good band though... very interesting to listen to and watch perform.

Thanks for the enlightenment

That's a very nice rendition Neo.

I have to tell - I totally enjoy all of your recordings and I am quite envious of your talents - but I think you have got to smile sometimes - you always look so serious when you are playing smile
I don't know - maybe that's what musicians do (I certainly am not one)  - I just think it would add to the fab productions you do. smile
Keep'em coming my friend.
