Hey there sore fingers!!

I have been there too but I promised myself that I would NEVER put down the guitar.
So my only alternative was to become happy with the same repetitive things that I play until I learn new ones.

It works for me and has caused me to develop my own wacky style I guess.

That was really awesome of them.
I think I'm going to see if I can surprise them with a winter BBQ.
time to get the portable grill ready.

That's awesome man! Congratulations!!!
I haven't gotten any gear for christmas, though I did get my vintage pedal fixed for free!
So I guess being able to use it does count as getting a pedal...lol.

I've been lamenting over my broken 1970 National ME-940 pedal lately. Mainly because I've had an idea of using this with another effect behind it like chorus or something to give it a different feel to the surf and hurricane functions.

I found out through a co-worker that a new guitar repair shop opened up in town. So I called them and swung by to check out their shop. They are starting up good and I had a great chat with the owners Rachel and Kiern. Turns out Kearne is an ex-computer guy who got back into his first love....Music.

I showed him my broken pedal and he figured out what was wrong with it! And he fixed it for nothing but some nice conversation and a handshake. I told him that if they ever need computer work done to call me and it's on the house. All they have to do is get the parts.

My pedal works completely now!  *happy dance*

Turns out it was just one wire that wasn't even ever soldered to the input jack. It was just sitting in a little blob of solder. Apparently whoever did the initial soldering didn't tin the wire, they just blobbed the solder over the wire and terminal lead.

Kiern at "The Lucky Pick" ROCKS!!

I can't wait to try it out live this Friday night!!

*happy Dance*

I love how the Wah function is the reverse of the typical wah pedals. Pressing the footpedal down gives the "oooh" sound instead of the "waaaah" sound.

Manoman I can't wait to get home and try this out!!!!

Not unusual at all.
It's called a "Ground Loop" I believe.
It makes all pedals not play together so nicely.

You're welcome.  Those are the same strings I use on my Ovation bass.  They pop nicely, even though I've never really gotten the hang of that technique.   I look forward to hearing some tunage.

Kewl. You will love the Phat Strat.
Is it a 2-pickup jobbie-job or the 3-pickup one?
I prefer the 2-pickup one but I think my technique has improved enough that I don't constantly hit the middle pickup on strats anymore. i'll have to swing by the guitar store today and test that out...lol

I cheat with my A-shaped and Am-shaped barre chords because I play Hendrix style...
I just play the 3 strings held down by my ring finger (For the a-shaped barres) and the middle-ring-pinky (For the am-shaped barres).

It sounds clearer on the high end and doesn't require me to hit all the strings...I can focus on setting up for the next chord or transitioning to lead lines.

Dm

Can't beat a used Telecaster or Squier '51 for ease of use and durability.
Those two will also stay with you as you develop as a musician.
I wish I had started out with my Squier '51 instead of the 3 crap guitars I battled my way through before finding it.

Edit: my first 3 guitars weren't "Crap"...they just weren't any good for me.

That's exactly what one of my buddies tells me.

It's true.
I mean, you could always get one of those single-coil-sized humbuckers that Seymour Duncan makes.....if you wanna go the "3-SC pickup strat" route.

But from what I hear, they don't impart the warmth and Fatness that a full sized humbucker gives.

Just wanted to drop the forum a quick note to say hello from Las Vegas! I stumbled across Chordie just yesterday after doing some research on Guitar Control. It looked like a BS scam to me, and based upon feedback from the members here, I am confident in my assessment!

Anyway, I live in Vegas, from Chicago originally. I play mostly blues and southern rock. I have a degree in music and I love mochachinos and long walks on the beach (j/k). I look forward to contributing.

Hey hey!

Welcome to Chordie!
Great to have ya with us. Beaches huh...well, you've got the sand part all around you lol.
wish I would have known about you 2 years ago when I went out to Vegas for VMWorld. It would have been nice to hear some music and jam with a fellow chordian.

God bless,

Yeah, Terri truly does almost everything when it comes to a band.
And she's a great teacher too. She has taught me a LOT on the guitar and I'm so thankful that she works with me.
She has come out to jam with our church band before as well.

More of Terri on guitar here...
