When oilling fret board do you loosen strings or just wipe right over the top

Can't wait till my playing matches my luv for my guitar

I post last week in
GAS I played a new guitar at the music store know I hate mine. The new guitar was the Teton spruce top electric acoustic it felt good when j pick it up noticed the fret bars were higher and wider then on min strings were lower and first strum I could hear clean notes. Back home I've played my guitar for a week and can't stand playing it it hurts my fingers and just dosent sound right so I hang it up and play my strata but I realy want to play my acoustic ive done a nut and bridge job to it and help it out some but still plays muddy note most of the time unless I stop strike each string and add just pressure and location but can't play from cord to cord. It's is strung with D Addario ej16 lights  would stringing with nylon strings help this is my first guitar would real like to make it work

I've alway been the type that dosnt ride some one else's stuff because I don't want to know how bad mine is. I played a much higher end acoustic the other day and now it's hard to play mine.  ignorance is bliss

What is a bridge
