I nominate any Dobro players, you know the guys in country bands who play a regular guitar flat with all the chords fron ontop (upside down basicly).

Speaking of dobro players, have alook and listen to Jerry Douglas. Many call him the Jimi Hendrix of the dobro. I think he's incredible! See for yourself;

I always favored Booker White.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0jRX69mxcE  Jerry Douglas is excellent though! I just like Bookers style! Peace!

I get alot of lip from my friends when I play anything by Bread. They seem to hate "Baby I'm a want You" most so I play it the most often...lol.

I love to play Bread...Don't you listen to them. Of course I nearly got my ass kicked for an acoustic version of Wildfire by Micheal Martin Murphy during a camping trip (I think that's his name)

No worries... I always play what I want...lol I play because I enjoy it and by golly I play what ever I like smile When they start paying admission I'll rearrange my set lists...lol  The first time I played it they all stopped, listened and said wow that was great what was that? Only when I told them who it was did they start ragging me. I'll convert them before they convert me though...lol Peace!

I play this song also...I took the time to learn the picking pattern for the intro but to be honest I never play it. I play it G 320033  Cadd9 032033  D 000232 for the verses. This alows the ring finger to be a pivot for the other chords (the pinky finger never moves for the verses). The chorus is just Em, D, Cadd9, G  x 2  Then Em, G x2 then Em, D once... The strumming pattern for the song is dduudu. You'll find that once you get the song down that a light touch with the pick at the beginning and during the breaks in the song will give you the picking sound you want without really having to get the pattern down. Unless you just want to play it 100% accurate... Here's a link to an older vid of me doing this song. Sorry for the bad playing...lol, but it'll give you an idea of how to finger the chords easily and the strumming pattern for the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yn4tOzpwqjU This was also one of my first songs! Peace! -Pix

I too have seen the threads on HC and have reviewed all of his posts here. Danelectro Spytunes is walking a fine line. Although his site is free (and offers pretty good lessons I must say), everyone is competing for advertising dollars. Coming to the Chordie forum and posting his link on multiple threads without any real input to the discussion can certainly be defined as spamming.

Just a fair warning to you Mr. Spytunes. Someone is watching, so don't go overboard. As long as we are allowing your posts, I think it would be good form for you to provide a link to Chordie on your site.

Chordie link information can be found here:

Well said!

This is a big project, I'm gathering a list, Satch Boogie is on it. If you wanna call it spam go ahead, it's happened before, let me know

I've read the threads about you on Harmony and they seem to regret spamming you since your not actually tring to sell anything but instead your just offering a free service... Just thought you might want to know. You may want to stop by...They want to offer your site as a link on their page now. I don't know if your interested or not..I just thought I'd pass the word on to ya. Peace!

Ken, that's quite a range there! I bet you never get borred huh. A few of those I've never seen anything like before. Nice! Peace!

You have a Garrison? That's the company in St. John's, correct? How do you like it?

I Love it!!  It's a fairly recent addition though...Only had it for about a month. I heard that Gibson had bought the company so I searched for a mint pre gibson model. Mine's an 'o4. I know how the prices sored (or are starting to sore)on pre-fender Tacomas. So i figured the market would probably act accordingly with the pre-Gibson Garrisons. So I bought it with the intent to sale later on but after playing it, it will probably stay with me for quite awhile! It is rather bright but not too much so. Almost like a piano sound. Mine hadn't been played much though and I feel like she's going to open up and balance out real nicely. You can't beat the price on a solid wood guitar!! I'd highly recommend picking one up before the prices start skyrocketing! Peace!

That sounds like a great idea, but I don't really know how to set something like that up. I just tried to put up a site like ken did and couldn't get it to go.

I believe fickr is a yahoo site and you need a yahoo acct to join. Photobucket should work for anyone though...I think.

Here's ALO and Matt Costa

And of course "Good People"   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZuhx3Lp9qc

Thanks for the links also...I'll check 'em out! Peace! - Pix

I'm currently putting the finishing touches on "Good People" by Jack Johnson. Also working on "TRY" by ALO and "Let it be Sung" by Matt Costa. Those are the ones taking up the majority of my play time...There's always a hundred others that get practiced from time to time...lol

I've always interpreted the dash as a slight pause in the beat....Can't say it's right though...lol but with the tabs on the internet mostly being done by do it yourselfers I don't think there really is a set guidline that's being followed. You just have to look at it and listen to the song and figure out what the tabbers intent was...Just random thoughts...lol Peace!

Sweet Guitarpix ... I'll join once I get home ... question?  Can we get some vids of members w/instruction for beginners?  songs to learn?

Also, do you need our Chordie account name or can we give you a different one ?

Hey Tim,
Yea we should be able to get some instructional stuff up. Anything in particular that your interested in? I've got a few instructional vids up already under my old name (paintermanone) Wonderwall, Stuck in the middle, Sweet Jane, and such. I'm not claiming for them to be any good...lol, but they should be helpfull. I'm a beginner myself (been playing about 13 months or so)and have tons of good instructional vids and articles saved, so if there's anything in particular your looking for let me know and I can probably send you a link. Look forward to seeing you there! Peace!

A great way to find new songs and good instructional vids is to visit other members pages and browse through their favorites and subscriptions.

http://www.rickcrider.com/monroestockphotos.htm That's a little from a past event. It's similar to merlefest. Alot of bands come in and they offer several diffrent workshops, and numerous open mics...You know the general festival thing. They had Tommy Emanuel there last year! It's in Monroe NC (real close by) Rumors have it dated in the end of april but it hasn't been confirmed yet. I can't find the site...Must be down...Possibly being updated. I'll send you more info as I get it.

This vid helped me alot when I was starting. http://youtube.com/watch?v=JVJd4y33v3E  If you think about the diffrent ways you can finger a chord and what chord your going to next and apply this technique I'm sure it will help you out. For instance if your playing G and have to change to D. Use a G fingered like this 320033. Then you can use the fretting finger on the b string as a pivot to go the d. Many chords have diffrent variations that will often fit the song your trying to play. It's just taking the time to figure these out, considering what comes next ,and using this technique. It'll help you out at least untill you build up your muscle memory.

Just thought I'd post something in this thread to bring it back to life incase some of the newer members would like to join in! Peace!

I usually change mine one at a time. With that said, About every 6 months I'll change them all at once to allow me to clean and condition the fretboard. I've never had any trouble but feel it's safer to change them 1 at a time normally just incase! Peace!

http://reviews.harmony-central.com/revi … d+VII/10/1   This link should answer your questions. Just be carefull which ones you give merit to! Alot of the reviews on harmony are made by the beginner with the "I just got it and it's the best" attitude. If you scan through and read them carefully you can pick out the ones from more experienced players though. Hope it helps! Peace!
