Sounds like you're very impressed with your Douglas CSB, Russell ... it's always gratifying to make a discovery like this, eh? I spent some time on RONDO's site, and they've certainly built a great selection. They kind of remind me of where IBANEZ was back in the late-60's and early-70's. Back in the day, I had an IBANEZ Telecaster knock-off (the 2532 in the bottom RH corner of this page):

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/anniversary/exp … &now=4

Man was it heavy! The body must have been close to 2" thick. It sounded every bit as good a real one and cost a lot less .. and look at where IBANEZ has grown to today! Looks like RONDO is well on the way along that same path.

Back to the Stestbar, I've finally found a Canadian source for one so there won't be shipping, duty, customs brokerage, etc.

(http://www.lamusic.ca/Stetsbar-Stoptail … s-gold.htm).

I can't wait to get it installed and wailing!

Seek and you will find if you dig hard enough your bound to turn up something I have to wait till tomorrow to order mine (SS check arrives) I had a friend over yesterday he plays also he was really amazed with the sound of my Douglass they Rondo has some tele style guitars but I am running out of room on my walls lol

Russell ...

I had the same dilemma when looking at the Kahler, Schaller, and Stetsbar. All of them have working solutions for the string stress at the bridge. Some reviews claim that the string tension prevents the roller bearing style bridges from working well (Kahler & Schaller), and I believe the Stetsbar is the only one where the whole tail & bridge assembly moves. None of the good ones are cheap (=/- $300) but its rare for anything of high quality to be inexpensive ... except for Kraft Peanut Butter :-)

Gotta say, it's always a blast researching stuff like this. It's mind-boggling to see just how much gear is available today. Imagine what Hendrix might have done with all of it ... wow!

TF I came to the conclusion the Stets is the one I am ordering and as a former Les Paul owner I came to another conclusion my Douglass CSB pro is better I know there will be some groans but I stand by my opinion and I have owned every guitar from SG's Strats Les Paul's Gretch Tennessean Hohfners Tele's you name it over 50 yrs. playing clubs and concerts my only regret is this guitar wasn't available earlier smile

Hi resprod
I had to play around with Chopro to get the song to read right some of the soc tagging formatting was throwing the rest of the posts crazy so I removed them and altered the spacing.

Sorry russ I had to remove the repost of resprod song as it was throwing post underneath crazy hope you don't mind. I guess the song was missing the song tagging at first I did'nt see the original posting.

I spent about 2hrs today working with different settings and tone mixes I am locking in on my favorite growl and squeal overdrive thump the walls sound still needs to be dialed in and I need to change to a lighter set for my touch and speed I wont loose any of the fatness my ME-50 has some fantastic sounds some of which I'm newly discovering for those who wish to hear a taste all I can say is give me a day or two I need to change stings and work with the sound a bit more before I'm confident its the best smile

Ok, pics are up so I offer an official happy NGD. I might have to get me one of those. What I like about it, besides the price, is that it looks just like a LP. Lots of other copies/knock offs have a diff shape to the horn. I don't like that. I want it to look just like real thing.

you will be very pleasantly surprised with there guitars which ever you decide on smile

Great looking axe, Russell ... congratulations! The Rondo website looks like a great place to get G.A.S.,  their pricing defies belief.

they have 10 pages of guitars the price go's up but still its miles ahead of other websites pricing and quality wise smile

I have to add it feels and sounds like a LP tomorrow I am going to crank it up thru my ME-50 and experiment with the settings I actually can feel the vibrations in the floor when I crank it the guitar came stringed with a heavier set then I use so I am going to do a string change to my usual EB super Slinkys this should lower the action somewhat and let me play with more abandon (I love abandon) lol

What I don't understand is the guitar they sent me has the cream trim around the top and the one in the photo doesn't and it weighs more then 8 lbs still its gorgeous and after I lowered the action it plays smooth intonation is excellent I spent over an hour jamming through my ME-50 getting acquainted with the tone settings the pickups are defiantly more active and responsive then my strat very big sound happy me smile

Its here!!They made a special trip  due to there error try as I might I cannot tell the difference between this Douglas Shadow CSB and a Les Paul Standard the weight and feel, tone volume workmanship is excellent I did lower the action a tad but all the harmonics are dead on as far as I can see the only difference is the name Gibson is missing but that aint worth $2300.00 extra dollars to me I saw another guitar on Rondo I want too LOL smile

this is there Agile model love the lines and color scheme I am going to get this one too
