It was entirely Trevs fault he used to ride like a lunatic .He wasn't wired up right I remember one time he stripped a bike down in his mothers living room , granted he covered the carpet with plastic but he then drained the oil out which ran over the edges .We all had a good laugh at his Dad dragging the bike out of the door and Trev trying to drag it back in. Honestly you couldn't invent a story like this even if you wanted to .

Cant say really but at the time we always thought Lennon couldn't count .
I would think that by now there all filled but I'll be up there in a couple of weeks so I'll try and do a quick audit ![]()

The new skills thing is very important .I always bring something new to rehearsals ,not as a suggestion to include it in future sets but to improve and diversify from things we have been used to.
Some time ago I suggested we play Donna Summers hot stuff which every body except our girl singer seemed horrified by . How ever every body loved it once they played it ,the lead riff having such an effect on our Conga player( who is also a good guitarist ) as he asked if he could take the lead on guitar for this song .

On Phill Williams posts he has a reference to the holes in Blackburn
I actually come from Blackburn and I do have a funny and totally true story about a hole .
Back in the late 60s a friend of mine had a Norton Dominator motorcycle .One day not looking where he was going he rode it into a large hole in the ground .Looking up from the hole at the bewildered council worker who had been leaning on his shovel as the accident happened he said "Give me a hand to get it out mate" .The council worker replied ."You were clever enough to get the bugger in there your self ,lets see if your clever enough to get it out ."

Re: accuracy of playing songs (25 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
This is an argument which some of my colleague's feel quite strong about .Our last bass player really felt that we should mimic the original songs where as the rest of us felt we should put out own stamp on the track ,As probably 60% of the current set is covers My personal take is that it should sound like us and not the original artist .
However if you play as a tribute artist then yes try and be as close to the original as you can ,no one wants an Elvis impersonator who sound like Dolly Parton .

Wrote this for Cindy Scholl the great flautist who I often play with something to try while I'm in the UK never penned a reggae tune before but as she had me playing Bob Marley most of last year I thought I should try ..

Re: What was your biggest single aid to improving? (24 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I think the thing that helped me most when I came back to playing was the use of backing tracks as I had not played with a band for many years I found it helped with timing issues and gave me added confidence to play live again.

Do you get nervous or does it happen all the time .If its all the time I would just say practice. If its just when some ones listening try to imagine your on your own .But in either case warm up your vocal chords with a few exercises before you start then you don't strain

The law about not smoking in a public place doesnt mean jack here in Crete .Last night I was asked down to a new taverna to play a few songs for a friends leaving party.
In years gone by before the passing of the afore mentioned law I have played some smoky bars but this one had to be the worst, it was like trying to perform inside a burning building ,with closed doors and no extraction .Needless to say we left early as my health was beginning to suffer .This morning I am coughing and my throat is raw .
Now I know I am whining and the culture here is different which I accept as this is my chosen place to live .But the place was packed to the door, all ages .It is up to the individual if they choose to smoke ,but I dont want to breathe second hand fumes .
Any way rant over .I need a gasmask any suggestions .

Here's a song that jumped into my head at about 4 this morning
Its called Tight which in some parts of the UK means careful with money but like some old blues songs there's a little innuendo so please take it with out offence .
Tight by Graham Windle © all rights reserved 2013
Key G blues rythm
I walked in a bar ,
Ordered lot of drinks.
My baby walks in
Said you know what I thinks,
That’s so much money,
You just cant pay .
She handed em back ,
and dragged me away
She’s tight
You know what I say
She’s tight
She don’t like to pay
She’s tight ,she’s tight
But she’ll love me tonight .
I bought a new car
She said that’s far to expensive
I said its yours baby
cos I’m so attentive
To things that you want
And thing that you need
She said I’m built for comfort
I aint built for speed
She’s tight
You know what I say
She’s tight
She don’t like to pay
She’s tight ,she’s tight
But she’ll love me tonight .
I went to the doctor
To ask his advice
I said to him doctor
Whys my baby so tight
He looked at my problem
Said what can I do
If your baby’s tight
That’s better for you
She’s tight
You know what I say
She’s tight
She don’t like to pay
She’s tight ,she’s tight
But she’ll love me tonight .
