I forgot to mention in my email that each chord shown is for 4 beats unless there is a superscript number at the side of it showing different. It is double strummed (i.e. two down strums per beat) and palm muted.

As it is in a minor key there is no way to play it in G, which is a major key, but if you really want to play the song that will be the incentive to learn new chords.

It is easier to play in Am with the capo on the 3rd fret if you want to keep to the original key but, as with any song, you really need to play it in the key that suits your voice, so you can move your capo  to a position that suits you best.

I have a good backing track that my students use which will help you keep in time so if you want, and you let me know what key (or capo position) suits you, I can adjust the key and send a copy for you to work with.

Happy Birthday Bob. Thanks for "To Make You Feel My Love" which has become my current signature tune smile.

Try using Amy's chart, it is easier to understand.

If you put a capo on the 2nd fret and play the C shape chord you will be playing D. The D shape chord will become E and so on, for every chord shape you play the actual note is shifted up 2 steps.

A  A#  B  C  C#  D  D#  E  F  F# G   G#  A
    Bb          Db       Eb          Gb       Ab

Best guess!!

It is not 1 2 3 4 5 6 but 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and 6th.

Musically high and low refer to pitch and not position or direction, so the first string is the highest and the last (sixth) is the lowest.

So think musically and not phyically, so that going up and down the fretboard or up and down a string will refer to pitch of the note, and you cannot go wrong.

Amy (mekidsmom) placed a similar chart as a 'Sticky' in the Acoustic section some time ago:

Sorry you misunderstood me. The D A E is a key change, the sus2 would alter the timbre of the sound.

Going with what sounds best to you is the way to go.

Well playing C G D with the capo on the 5th is F C G, but I can only assume that Dsus2 Asus2 and E was played as a key change to suit the singer's vocal range and possibly they liked the 'sus2' sound to the accompaniment. (You did not say whether the vid was the original artiste or a cover version and I am assuming a cover.)

"Walking Alone", "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying", The Girl Of My Best Friend", "A Voice In The Wlderness", "Bang Bang", "I Started A Joke", "Someone Like You" and "Knocking On Heaven's Door" are but a few of the depressing songs that I like and sing regularly.

Robin Gibb had one of the most incredible voices I have every heard which was sadly lost when they started singing falsetto. RIP Robin.

That is just about as dumb as my most stupid question..................

"Will you marry me?"

The first time was bad enough but the second time was a complete disaster.

PLEASE - THIS IS A WARNING TO US ALL!!!!!!!!!!

YOU NEED TO READ THIS.

I HAVE JUST RECEIVED THIS WARNING.

Shampoo Warning :

I don't know WHY I didn't figure this out sooner!  I use shampoo in the shower.
When I wash my hair, the shampoo runs down my whole body, and printed very clearly on the shampoo label is this warning : "FOR EXTRA VOLUME AND BODY."

No wonder I have been gaining weight!

Well! I have got rid of that shampoo and I am going to start showering with washing up liquid instead as its label reads :

"DISSOLVES FAT THAT IS OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE."

Problem solved! --- If I don't answer the phone

I'll be in the shower

Hey Russ I said that we should not have cut the fingertips off that bald and bearded clay doll we were chanting over but you insisted so it is your fault lol.

After trying this progression I would do the same as you for the first two chords but for the A/C# I would get a friend to stick a finger on the 4th fret of the 5th string for me. :lol

Seriously, I can find no way to play it properly. I would barre my index finger on the second fret and play the 5th string/4th fret with my pinkie and mute the high 'e' string.

Chordie was moved to a new and faster server in 2006 and there were software changes at that time also. Unfortunately the original Member start dates was lost in the change over, hence no one shows a registered date before 2006.

Roger

A 01:00 start is rather too late for me, if you saw me you would know how desperately I need my beauty sleep lol.

Checking the older post I found an announcement from Per in 2007 that October 25th of that year was the 5th anniversary of him starting Chordie: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4393

So it was started in 2002. Originally it was to help Per find songs for himself but he soon found that others wanted an easy way of finding chords and lyrics for songs and the idea was born. Over the years Chordie has grown and developed into the site we know and love today.

I have just realised that October 25th this year will be Chordie's 10th birthday.

If I have not fallen to sleep (it will be midnight here) I will join you for a while.

Being the 'sound engineer' for the evening I had no chance of recording but many of the parents did and I have asked for copies, so I will have to see what comes along.

Well that was the best birthday party ever. Every one of my students from the youngest, who is only 7, played and sang their hearts out. There was one very proud teacher, one gobsmacked music school head, and plenty very proud parents tonight, several wanting to make it a regular Satuday evening event.
