Well, it's a hard to miss target in a space as small as a warehouse, so I guess I can forgive you.

*Whew*

We will find a better position for the camera next time. Promise.
Terri is partially missing in some of the videos due to the Cardboard-box Mic-stand we jury-rigged lol...

Hey, that's not fat. I can show you fat!
And you saw me setup the camera lol. There wasn't anywhere else to put it since I forgot my tripod like an idiot...

Let me see them first.  I couldn't get my voice right, and made a lot of mistakes.  I think it probably will sound good to us, but I'm not so sure anyone else wants to suffer.

Lol, okay. I will upload them but keep them private and send you the links for approval in a PM or Email.

I had SUCH a great time last night!!!
Terri can really sing can't she!!
Your new Guild guitar is the sound that i've been looking for in an acoustic. It actually sounds like a REAL acoustic guitar like you hear online! Even better in person! Also, your picking technique is phenomenal man!! How long did it take you to get your fingerpicking coordination so well?! I can barely keep track of what my individual fingers are doing when I fingerpick, I usually just go in-line down the fingers and strings (Thumb-Pointer-Middle-Ring-Pinky).

Im burning the DVDs now!!!
If you agree, I can upload the individual songs we played to my youtube account and post links to them here.

Hehe.

The Freeze pedal (By Electro-Harmonix) allows you to stomp on the switch of the footpedal and freeze whatever sound your guitar is currently making...until you release the switch/lift your foot.

It's great for people like me that play chords and lead together without a second guitarist.

The actual demo starts about 45 seconds in.

Crap...the wife just put the kibosh on any plans for saturday.

Dangit dangit dangit...grrr.

Yes, a weekday (Monday, Wednesday or Friday) would work good. At this point I wouldn't be able to let the wife know about it though and I'd only have about 3 hours max that I could stay after work before she starts in on me.

Kewl, Earlier is better for me too.

I do!  I do!

Though I look pretty rotten in a bikini.  And the cute violin players are happily married.

I really would love to have you over for some jamming.  It's that crazy time of year with parties and events and practices and whatnot.  But I really would love it if we could get together and maybe try some carols or something.  Turn some of those old Wesleyan Christmas hymns on their ear.

- Zurf

Oh man, we must be on the same wavelength! I've been trying to learn christmas carols too!!!
I just learned the lead guitar to "Santa Claus is coming to town" and can play it in any key! The fingerings are the same all up and down the fretboard!!! Literally!!!!

I don't have anything going on this saturday...do you? If this saturday is too soon I'd be willing to lock in next saturday!

Keep your head up man.
That freedom you have now...I agree that you should make the most of it. I'm sorry to hear about your situation with the kids but they will understand when they're older. Thanks for sharing your plight with us here, it's helped me to take a better second look at my own situation.
When you get your finances back in order, go out and listen to some free live music. Heck, if there are any local venues that have live music, go give it a listen. Everytime I go away on business (My only ME-TIME) I try to go out and listen to live music, be it jazz, blues, indie or just amateur night at some place. It's always therapeutic to sit back and get taught by someone showing the way live right in front of you.
I don't know if you're a believer, but I am and I'll be sending some prayers up on your behalf. Some things...we have to tolerate because we are in this world for the time being.
The rest, God can fix.

Good luck and God bless,

My acoustic smells like marker ink...that alcoholey smokey funkey smell.
Guess it's because it originally was a college party guitar.

Count me in! As long as we get to play guitar, I'm in.
I don't ask for much through the year so I don't think the wife would begrudge me attending this event.
In fact...I'll start saving change up right now so she can't say we don't have the money either.

We'll talk more when the details are posted.

thanks!!

I'm interested!!
I can make it, but only as a series of day-visits. Might be able to make the Friday-night campfire-jam as well if the wife doesn't have plans for me on friday night.
Wish I could bring my tent and fishing pole but...ah well.

Two things...

The first was "X-Static" by The Foo Fighters.
I learned how to play that song on the low E-String on an acoustic guitar my college sweetheart bought for me.
Then when we split up I hocked the guitar and got into building motorcycles.

The second was years later after being married and on my 30th birthday.
My wife bought me a Walmart brand "First Act ME440" electric guitar (My First) and all the memories of learning that first song came flooding back to me.
I ran with it this time.
Still with my lovely lady and still playing music everyday!

Hey man, I can't say that I'm sorry to hear about your divorce. If it wasn't working out, it probably wasn't meant to be. I know you probably can't see that or think about it now...but later on you will look back and realize you made the best decision.

You're probably right about the idea of ending a marriage if it's not working, but if you're the one being divorced it's hard to believe in such an idea. I've lost so much because of my wife's decision to divorce, including the woman I loved, my job, my savings, and my health.  Some really wonderful things are going to have to happen before I'll be able to look back and realize any of this was for the good.

Divorce...and our slack-sided justice system...are made for women.
(Good) Men do not usually benefit from divorce or even break even when it's an amicable split and both parties just want to go their separate ways. Somehow...the law steps in and fudges it all up. I told my wife, I'm only doing this ONE time in my lifetime and there isn't going to be anyone BUT her in my life. She can take it how she wants to take it but I'm not ever dating or marrying again if she dies or leaves me for some odd reason. It's just not worth the hassle of getting to know someone again and spending all that time all over again...ugh.

The same thing happened to my cousin. He lost everything when he and his wife split. and it's not like he had much to begin with.
But sure as sin..the courts gave her everything. Luckily his house and harley were transferred into his mother's name long before the split happened.
I tell my wife all the time...being married to me is like the mafia. Only way out is blood or witness protection.
If it's ever my turn you can put Jail or death by cop onto the end of my list.

On the other hand, my ex-wife seems really happy now.

Yeah, that justice system again...and the fact that there are way more easy opportunities to have a hole filled (if you know what I mean) than there are for a man to put the wrecked aftermath of their life back together and have people understand or be sympathetic. It seems when this happens to a man, that's when the whole world caves in and decides to take it's lumps. The job decides to fire you because you're not performing the way you used to, the car decides to blow an engine or transmission, all those little symptoms you've been feeling over the years decide to mestastasize into full blown sicknesses and your relatives all get REAL busy and can't find the time or opportunity to help you.
Life...it really sucks sometimes.

I've been on the usual quest for the perfect sound...and I'm one step closer today.
And the best thing is that it didn't cost me anything!!

I've been thinking lately that I needed a Delay Pedal to get the sound I was looking for. This was largely in part to the lack of customizability for the delay effect built into my Fender Princeton 650 amplifier. No matter what I tried I could not get it to give me the sound I wanted. So I resigned to the fact that I needed to buy a delay pedal to reach my goals.

Yesterday before church started I thought about that "Chris Isaac" song...Wicked Game...and how the guitar in it sounds so relaxed and beautiful. Then I started fiddling with the controls for my built-in effects on my amplifier and switched it from the "Chorus-Delay" setting to the "Reverb" setting.

Wow...oh-my-gosh did the sound come out sooo much better!!!! It was the fattening/relaxing/bluesy effect I had been looking for for MONTHS and it was there staring me in the face day after day the whole time!!!

Now...things sound the way that I need them to and I'm also not as hard pressed to get that delay pedal.

Now I'm back on the road to getting my Phase and Freeze pedals!

Yep, Practice is it.
I didn't get barre chords for a full year because I kept looking for a shortcut instead of listening to the sage advice here.
After I buckled down and just practiced and did hand strengthening exercises (Squeezing a tennisball and then a blue handball when strong enough) I had barre chords licked!
