Zurf .......... I`m not even gonna look at the dreaded B chord yet , i figure the evil F Chord is enough for now lol.  Thanks for the suggestions as well ...............  will try and give it ago then ago.

Amy .........thank you as well.  The diagram you put in your comment is the F chord i play at the moment and i still struggle with it.  Thanks for all the tips, i think i will try the classical style for awhile and see how i get on.

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE for all the help smile

Zurf ....... welcome to the world of Sound Cloud ......it`s pretty easy to use.  I haven`t yet set up a YOU TUBE account, so cant comment on that.

Loved both your covers of ~Wagon Wheel~ and ~Down on the Corner~ .... some great tabbing in there and loved the chatter and chuckles happening in amongst it all, that just added to it and gave it a personal touch.  You have a great voice ........... i didn`t need any wine or cheese in my ears to listen wink

dalebeston ........... awesome choices, like both of them smile

But just to let you know, Suggested Featured Song of the Month for August this time around, is being run a little differently to last month.  This time members just have to enter your name in here, not song choices, and then towards the end of the month, all the names will go in a hat and the name that is drawn out, will get to pick the song for August.  So if your name gets picked out of the hat, then you can pick your song of choice and then everyone who wants to participate will all perform your song.

Hope that makes sense smile

nice change from rubbishing the B chord, by the way, is the amnesty over? haven't heard much about it for some time.....FOL

back to F, i mostly play it up the neck or using my index finger holding down the B & E strings leaving the bass E unplayed (is that a word?) again the C to F to C to F is good practice and you know what practice makes?....yeah you're right...... blisters.

phill

Phill .............. i haven`t advanced enough yet on guitar to have tried the B chord yet! ....... don`t tell me i am in for more horrible chords to play sad
Playing the F chord up the neck, is that like frets further up? or do you mean barring?  I am obvioulsy going to have to google the F chord.
Oh yeah .....now I am  just showing how much i don`t know about guitars and chords  aren`t  I  roll

I know what you are saying girl.
I used to avoid the F like it was a disease.
Now I kind of prefer the F - I like it's sound along with the C.

Remember - the first guys naming notes probably named it an  " F " chord for a reason ! smile
Keep on keeping on - it will get easier.

Jim

TIGLJK ............ yes i love the sound of the F chord too and YES i am sure whoever named it that F letter/Chord had a very good reason!!!! lol smile

Edited to add the word letter/chord  Jandle

TF ........... now that is a good idea, I have tried that in the past and it felt more comfortable i must admit ........... but i then noticed most guitar players didn`t seem to play like that, so i thought i was doing it wrong,  so i stopped playing it that way................but maybe i will go back to that style because it is definately easier to get my hand on there and bar that F chord.  Thanks smile

Roger .......... Thanks for that ........ i am guessing your talking about barring chords, which i haven`t mastered yet smile   I am still in the learners mode, so my C chord is just on 3 strings at this point smile

Yep. I remember those days of not being able to play anything with an F chord.

Try bouncing back and forth between the F and C. I used to do that every night as part of my practice routine when I started learning. Just a few minutes every time you get the guitar out and you'll have it in a couple weeks. smile

Thanks unclejoesband ......... good idea and yep i hope i get it soon too ......makes songs terrible every time i have to stop to play the F chord.

Dino48 .......... hope we are going to get to hear your finger picking version then smile

unclejoesband ......... looks like you two are having fun and just enjoying it ...... that`s how music should be, fun .........  well done to you both smile

Now i know why i play ukulele .............. i hate that F chord on guitar ........... i have trouble barring it and i haven`t mastered getting there quick enough yet to play it the other way ........... i will persevere when my fingers stop throbbing from the steel strings ........
ok .....  i have finished moaning .... as you were cool

Edited to fix smiley icon from :cool   to cool   Jandle

rickyjack ....................... awesome, loved it, vocals were great and i adore that harmonica! big_smile

Grah1 ...........fantastic! love the flute and mandolin in the mix with it smile

Roger Guppy .............. lol ............ your name will be in the hat along with the rest of the names entered here ................ hmmm I wonder what song you will pick smile

toptown .... haha love the pickles smile  But yeah, it isn`t really a  competition of who is the best, more a matter of everyone having ago at the covers smile

rickyjack ....... enjoy that blue pickle smile

Edited to change the word "a" to "at" (Jandle)

johnk ....... I am left handed and play guitar and ukulele, but with guitars it is harder to just alter the strings because of exactly what you said, the bridge.  My advice would be go online buy a good condition 2nd hand guitar for her to learn on and if she really likes it, then buy her a good left hand guitar.  If she doesn`t like it, then re-sell the 2nd  hand one you brought her smile

mekidsmom ...........  hey you cant be perfect all the time wink   This month is a `Revival` of a song by Creedence Clear Water Survival smile

Roger Guppy -  your not the only person that pre-recorded the song ~Knockin On Heavens Door~ and it wasn`t me either smile, another member sent it to me during June  because they liked it smile   It is a great song I agree smile  So, when we have a Suggested FSOM, that song requests are put in by members, enter that song again smile

Actually that goes for anyone, if your song didn`t get chosen this time,  enter it again, when its a Suggested FSOM for songs (not to be confused with Suggested FSOM for August which is entering your name to pick that months song smile
