I forgot indeed the drummer from RUSH
Most of the drummers I see here, are J.Bonham, Keith fly me to the Moon, I don't think you would have good feelings, seeing and watching him.
That is one of the reasons, why I think Charlie Watts is one of the best, Jazz + Stones. I have 5 numbers of the Charlie Watts quintet

Being "serious" in love and being extremely jealous: I considered these PHENOMENONS a a DISEASE, why, heart beats to fast, you always want to ask if she still loves you, butterfly feelings can give gastro intestinal problems, feeling nervous, anxious, and I can understand the problem. Best thing is what Roger told, write a personal song, or play an existing song, using your words. I love "Father and Son" by Cat (YUSSUF ISLAM) Stevens. Change the lyrics? A problem is that some of the greatest ballads are written because of "love pain", and yes one of my top songs is: I'm a melancholy man, doing what I can by the Moody Blues, you will find this on youtube myspace. But read again what Roger wrote.
For every disease, there is a cure, and tempering hormones, try, it will not work, but please don't get lost in your complete love of your life. What about the RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS, oh my love, my darling, I hunger for ..... UNCHAINED MELODY, still one of the greatest songs in history

If you are listed with other bands, I think you have to "show" more, the skills and that Ballads, Blues, Rock AND COUNTRY can go hand in hand.

In a way yes, but I thought it was "Style Council", and I know one song "a town called Malice", can it? Also JAM >>> WHAM! They have nothing in common, I just don't know what happened to Ridgeley? And the rumours of a reunion, TRUE or FALSE.

Again a list, but I wanted to know WHAT DIFFERENT OPINION THERE CAN BE, between young and old.
- CHARLIE WATTS (jazz, blues, rock)
- KEITH MOON (+ The WHO)
- JOHN "BONZO" BONHAM (+ LED ZEPPELIN)
- BILL BRUFORD(Yes)
- GINGER BAKER (Cream & blind faith)
There are fantastic and probably better drummers, especially in JAZZ. I don't remember their names.

I am capable to put a song with lyrics on myspace, followed by the same song without voice.
If you are good in what you play is the best "deal" to put 2 times the same melody, English and Spanish on CD. At that moment you are aiming to 500.000.000 people.
Acapo, what kind of Boss do you have? Mine BR 600

Re: I'd LOVE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT YOUR APPROACH PLAYING GUITAR (8 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
I am not familiar with that little kill, but it is in fact the exact expression. It adds a kind of funk, and it sounds often strange. Since I learned that technique, from my best friend (we play Saturday or Sunday) AND HE IS A DRUMMER, I learned a lot. Since chordie, reading a lot of topics and posts, and him being angry, because he is always right, it starts to be more complicated for him. There is one thing he hate and I like: playing together in the same chord. If I don't find "fitting other chords" I start to use a lot this style, and suddenly I can put some solos, blocking wit the side of my right hand, ON ACOUSTIC, we almost never play electric (too loud for him, but why should I change, having 1 neighbour 100 yards from my home.)

And yes there HAS TO BE different rules in 50 different States. It is incredible, the way you all stick together. Here in Europe we try too, but even in Dutch, some words in Belgium Dutch and Dutch in the Netherlands, are 100% different, SAME WORD

some deep purple, stones and a quit heavy interpretation of Dylan's KNOCKING ON HEAVENS DOOR, not G&Roses, but YOUR interpretation, works always, because, older & younger people know the song, early sixties (Bob), and early nineties (Axl+Slash)

That's the most sensitive part playing guitar. There are different opinions about "play time" I think it will be easier on electric, but NEVER CROSS THE PAIN LIMIT.

Celebacy, I am 100% (99%) sure that "preventing a priest from being married" is the reason. It was, as told a BIG HONOUR to become a priest, and most were noble, but the way it is now is more destructive. About Scotland, wasn't there a big Catholic religion, (like Mary Queen of Scots) or is this now not longer Catholic?

What is considered as a good microphone? I have 2 mics, for playing acoustic, just as they played in the sixties, seventies.
It is a matter of placing them correct. So NO special elements in an acoustic. And as Roger said, this is indeed the correct place, using accessories, like microphones, PC. I have a BOSS BR 600, 8 tracks, but I still didn't use it even with all kinds of effects, and a lot of drum patterns. If you see what that market offers, it is incredible, and a fashion to. I can make a song, 100% complete, using that device, and put it on the web.

Topic: ACTIVE IN CHURCH (26 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
As I wrote probably, as answer, I am fascinated by the USA culture, especially concerning music in CHURCH. We don't have a tradition here. We start to become, even being Catholic, very LAZY. There are compared to 30 - 40 years ago, a minority who is still active, by going to church. I don't know why, but the way we are treated by the pope, is not to be excited. So all different religions, like New Born Christians, Baptists, Protestants and the fact of playing music, gospel, should be very useful. A big CATHOLIC problem is that priests are not allowed to marry, and no women as priest.
The "celibate" was started in 800 AC, to receive more money. It where most NOBLE men who became priest, and using the celibate, all the money went to the Church after the dead of a priest.
They are speaking of a revival (???), and a strange fact was always this: a priest had almost always a housekeeper, he could live with a woman, while it was a great sin for others.
It is a difficult problem

Re: There is not yet a list with the best recognisable intro's (19 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
Yes Natho, the more I look, the more intros you find. I wasn't aware of the fact to realise how many intros there are, so recognisable that you know the band and song 10 seconds later. The Beatles are easy to recognise, but not that easy as the Stones. They "re-invented" them selves, every new album, and this is obvious, that we don't realise it. In music history, even if you don't like them, or the "struggle" in the sixties: OR Beatles OR Stones, analyse their songs, I really don't know if there are or will be bands, better than the Beatles

Hi boxer, Roger is correct. I noticed too, that if I want, I can change names, but I don't touch it. I love your name, and also the reason. My favourite song is THE ONLY LIVING BOY IN NEW YORK.
How about a "welsh" name? Their are villages there, with names impossible to pronounce, and one of my passions is the origin of languages. Can you inform me more about WELSH, do people still speak it, is it Celtic???

Topic: I'd LOVE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT YOUR APPROACH PLAYING GUITAR (8 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
Is this easy, or is this difficult, I only know that this is a kind of personal interest. A lot of great songs are BORN IN BED, (a lot of kids too)
My "play-the-guitar-style" is more rhythmic but I try to play in that way that you recognise a song quit fast. I love strumming, and blocking the strings at the same time, and in most of the songs, I use riffs and licks, or should I say LITTLE solos? My style is recognisable, acoustic and electric, and often instrumental, this however is a lot better, the lyrics, reading what you all write about songs, your own songs. I DON'T USE YOUR LYRICS, but it gave me a pretty good idea, seeing your lyrics.
I don't know if it's lead guitar, most people tell me it is lead, but solos? Not my best skill.
Maybe you can compare it with Keith Richards, but 100 times less. Why: I admire the man, the way he plays. So my guitar style is: PLAY THE MELODY LINE, USING A LOT OF RHYTHM, BLOCKING STRINGS, while STRUMMING and ADDING (A LOT OF LICKS. I am very interested in the way you play, chordians. Jazzy? Finger Picking? Solo?.....
It is of course impossible to compare me with Keith, I just use the name him to explain my style better. He is one of the greatest players.
This how I try to play. And acoustic AND electric.
A funny thing is to make a complete different song using existing chords of an existing number, like I WILL SURVIVE (Gloria Gaynor) played as a sweet melodic ballad.

Re: Where are the XXL solo's from the past (8 replies, posted in Electric)
Well thanks for answering, I think that we all share the same opinion AND if you play a long solo, would people still like it?
I was never really able to play solo's on my guitar. People told me that my style was more "lead guitar, whatever this means" I used to play a song, recognised quit fast by an audience, and I played more a kind of rhythm, but not really as a quiet player. I added always something, licks, riffs
and important for me, they had to realise what song I played. Well this can be an interesting topic, the style you play. About the XXL solos: they still exist, seeing and hearing the G3, about 3 years ago, Satriani, Vai, and in particular Malmsteen. He plays Beethoven and more classic composers as if it was nothing, but he started at 5 years, with classical music. I would like to know if the public, today, would be bored or enthusiast. but I think it was fantastic to see bands playing solos, but even at that time, too much was too much. Marc Bolan, playing almost 30 minutes Get It On, great to see and hear, they just couldn't stop.
