Sounds like a fun song, I would like to hear, or read, it.
Roger
After much consideration I had decided that perhaps it was it was a result of Newton's Law of Gravity pulling my chest south. I was considering turning my TV upside down and fixing a bar at about eye height so that I can hang by my legs to watch it to reverse the trend.
However, after carefull reading your replies, I am now of the opinion that Jeff (Topdown) has the definitive answer and there is nothing I can do about it.
Roger
I do not know who removed it but I have replaced the link for 'z'.
Roger
You may or may not know, but I do spend most of my time in either shorts or jeans. Well last night was the first meeting of the Algarve Rock Choir that I am assisting with, so I decided to dress up for a change.
I took two pairs of trousers from the wardrobe that I have not worn for probably 6 to 9 months and to my shock and horror I found that they had shrunk and I could no longer get them around my waist no matter how much I breathed in. I have no idea what could have caused this shrinkage. Perhaps they felt unloved by not being worn and have wasted away. I will have to investigate this phenomenon some more.
I wonder if anyone else has encountered this strange occurrence.
Roger
I would much rather see a mediocre musician live than listen to a studio recording any day of the week and to see a good one is great.
I am glad you enjoyed yourself, even if you did have to find a seat
.
Roger
I don't see anything wrong with the recordings. Good job and I enjoyed listening to them both. Well done Pete.
Roger
Another song I have never heard before and I do like this one also. Good recording with a nice balance between guitar and vocals.
Roger
It is the first time I have heard this song but I do quite like the dark and sombre ones so I enjoyed listening to it. Well done and thank you.
Roger
I have no idea as to whether this is possible but if you click on 'Artists' on the left of the page you will see:
2011-07-20: iPad support
Please try browsing Chordie with your iPad. The device is now supported. Since this is just launced, I am really interested in all feedback.
If you click on the green, underlined word 'feedback' you can direct your question to the site owner who can answer it.
Roger
Thanks for the comments.
Amy, they were both very nervous before starting so I was also trying to help them relax and enjoy themselves.
Jerry, proud surrogate grandfather would be more accurate
.
Toots, things have moved on since then as this was recorded in July.
Dino, sadly Henry, the silver tabby who had FIV, is no longer with me but TT, the tortoiseshell, is still with me.
Zguitar, I certainly am proud of her. She has her lesson this afternoon so I will tell her that 20% is the normal fee
.
As I said to Toots, the gig was in July and there have been some changes since then. Sophie is no longer with us as she has decided she wants to concentrate on her dancing. Filipa has continued to improve and is singing more confidently. So Filipa's younger sister, Rita, who plays keyboard has joined her and today another of my students, Alexandra, who play lead guitar (and at 15 owns a MIA fat strat - I'm jealous) is coming too. All three girls sing and they are now to practice together with the expectation of getting them some gigs this summer. They all are very keen and looking forward to it - as am I.
Roger
Nice work Russ, I played chess years ago and reading this has re-aroused my interest so I think I might give it a whirl again.
Roger
P.S. I look forward to seeing RH MIA chess boards on eBay ![]()
Filipa came to me as a guitar student when she was 14 years old. Her mum told me she did not speak English but I said that was no problem and she would get free English lessons thrown in with the guitar lessons
. I should add that as the Algarve relies heavily on tourism, English is taught in schools here and most Portuguese do speak it, so Filipa has always understood more than she speaks. Anyway Filipa progressed steadily and, as usual, I was encouraging her to sing along but she was so quiet that I said many times the clock on the wall was making more noise than her. However what I could hear was in key and sounded good but no amount of encouragement would make her lift the volume and, after discussing it with her mum, it transpired that she was uncomfortable singing in the shop/school. She lived only 100 yards away so I suggested that I went to their home for a while so she would feel more at ease and slowly she gained in confidence and I was right, she could sing well.
A few months later we moved the lesson back to the shop/school and her lesson coincided with two boys (one playing bass and the other guitar and keyboard) and they heard her from the next room and asked if she would join them and sing for them (you know what boys are like, they will not sing and like to have a pretty girl to sing for them
). Filipa was very nervous, but excited that she they thought her good enough to sing with them and she agreed to give it a try. It worked well and my colleague, Howard brought in Sophie, an English girl of a similar age, who was coming for singing lessons. The two girls worked well together and gave each other confidence; mind you both thought that the other was better than her, when in fact they were both very good but had different vocal ranges and quality of tone and their voices worked well together.
Howard has a regular summer gig at an Italian restaurant and in July 2011 we decided to take the girls along to perform in a guest spot for the very first time in public. They did a dozen numbers and were very well received so here is a video of their first half hour. Please excuse the sound quality but it is direct from the video camera’s mic.
After the introduction Sophie opens with Killing Me Softly, then Filipa with Price Tag, Sophie with White Flag, Filipa with You’re No Good, Sophie with I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing, Filipa with Love Story and finally (but cut short) Sophie with Ironic. Camera battery died.
I am very proud of Filipa, who is now 16 by the way. When I remember the reluctance to sing, the tears, the encouragement from her family and I so now the only tears are from me as I listen to her.
The video is quite long at 30 minutes but I hope you enjoy it:

Yes Phill, Hank won. I tried but could not get the stain out from deep inside the grain so I had to paint it in the end.
Thanks Jeff and Jerry I am well chuffed with her especially the tone. The action is very good too so she will handled alot. I intend to let the students try her out this week for their opinions too.
Roger
Well the pickguard arrived from China, the used pickups from the UK so I now have a new/old guitar that sounds even better than I expected. I am a happy bunny
.
Roger

Congratulations Granpapaguitar and especially to your daughter who has had to do all the hard work.
Roger
HNY to you too Cam
Roger
I set up FoC in 2007 as a place for Chordie Members to showcase their own recordings. Most now have their own places for uploads so it has been neglected a bit recently but it is still there for any Chordian use if they send me their song and photo.
Happy New Year,
Roger
My time is the same as yours so a Happy New Year to you from Portugal.
Roger
I have a stinking head cold so I will see the New Year in with TT, Garfield and Minne (my 2 cats and dog) but I will raise a glass to all my Chordie friends.
Happy New Year to you all.
Roger
Great song Sumadog, well done.
As the site you put it entails a download of the song I took the liberty of putting it on "Friends of Chordie" on MySpace where Dino will be able to listen to it too. I can soon remove it if you do not want it there.

I much prefer the look of the aluminuim. Apart from that the black plaint will probably chip and will need repeated attention to keep it looking good whereas the aluminium will just need keeping clean.
Roger
Hi Martine and welcome to the Forum,
I have not replied to the e-mail you sent me as I wanted to refer you to this thread and Chordie was down when I tried. Screen resolution as mentioned earlier seems the most likely solution (Control and minus) as this has worked for others.
Roger
I guess 'saran wrap' is what we in the UK call 'cling film' - a non sticky clear membrane that will cling to itself or porcelain - great for stretching across the top of a loo. ![]()
Joeyx3. I bet your parents wet themselves laughing when you were not around and the story would have gone around all the adults when children were not about.
Roger
Cam's "Christmas Songs" thread prompted me to start this one. What are your LEAST favorite Christmas songs?
Here are three off the top of my head:- Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
- Jingle Bell Rock
- Santa Baby.I'd rather be strapped to an amplifier at a Justin Bieber concert . . .
Okay, maybe not, but I always avoid these if I can.
Right, that is it............ I have taken you OFF my Christmas gift list.
How can anyone say that 'Rocking Around the Christmas Tree' is bad. Well maybe the song itself is not so hot but it was sung by the absolutely gorgeous, incredibly sexy, stunning songbird, and love of my life - Little Miss Dynamite herself, Brenda Lee.
