The origin of the Cornish pasties harks back to the days of the tin mines. Apparently they were half and half, half meat and potatoes and the other half apple or something. So breakfast and lunch. The reason for the lip around the outside is due to the poisonous nature of tin. The miners could hold the pastie by the rim which was then discarded, they had no provision to wash their hands.

I always thought hot dogs were sausages with a bread roll around them?

hello Richard the "o" you refer to means a diminished chord eg; Bbdiminished.  the G#m7/5 means you add the 7th of the chord and the 5th of the chord. as for + that means an augmented chord. you can find most of these chords and shapes in the resources tab . enjoy chordie

Peatle. I'm not familiar with the pastie, but a favourite with my family is corned beef stew or cawl as we call it which just means soup! Sounds very similar with onions, corned beef (obviously) potatoes, carrots, swede and/or any other veggies to hand. Add water beef stock and boil till everything is cooked to taste. You can add anything you like. My daughter uses diced beef instead of corned beef. It would also work with chicken I guess?

Sorry Peatle, having spent a lot of time in Turkey (the place not the bird lol) I should have remembered about halal foods. Bismillah, Ive often seen it on Turkish dolmushes (mini bus) I thought they were saying they liked Queen?

Zurf, we have this meat ball they call "faggots" it tastes as disgusting as it sounds being made of internal organs and I believe anything else that happens to be laying around in the butcher shop, eg: sawdust!!!!!

I've used it for work sarnies, fried it like bacon or as a quick meal with egg and chips, that's UK chips!
I have seen spam in shops but the manufacturer's like to give it other names like"chopped ham"
I've always loved corned beef or bully beef again in sarnies with tomato ketchup. It used to give me terrible heartburn till the doctor gave me some pills I take every morning, so I can eat almost anything.
Peatle, it's only pork products that's not allowed, beef is OK

Jim's songs are a pleasure to record and I'm so happy that he's happy with what I do with them.

Thanks for giving them a listen guys. John Lennon-ish....I wish. But thanks for boosting my ego.

Congrats to Cory and the proud dad.

I take it that you're talking about American football? I didn't understand a word of the terminology. EG; jam is what we put on toast. Jammed out with his first love I took to mean his girlfriend played guitar? 2 countries devided by the same(?) Language. Good luck on his forthcoming games.

Let's just say they are from my home town... Llanelli, and just between us, I used to ride a bike!!!! I also have 3 healthy sons.....

I believe this is from last year's BGT and one of the young ladies is a granddaughter of a close friend. It never even occurred to me about the name, having said that Williams is a very common surname I this part of the UK.

Ps, I've began working on your song.

My oldest son lives in Oz so I knew what thongs meant down under. I just had a thought though; imagine doing a gig in the UK and asking the audience...show us your thongs!!!! Well I can imagine it, as I was twerked once, that was 10 or 12 years ago, so you can imagine what kind of affect it had on me?

Joyio as we say in Welsh

I've been following Bill and Dondra's move as reported by Bill. well I got an idea for a poem (rhyme) about the "accident?" and knowing Bill has a good sense of humour this came to me so I thought (hoped) he and Dondra would appreciate it.

Bill and Dondra Went Moving.

Bill and Dondra went moving.
To a new home, not far away.
They packed up their things in the evening.
Then began moving the very next day.

Bill took down his drum kit.
Packed his beloved guitars.
Gently transporting to the new home.
Like I said it wasn't that far.

Now drums are quite light for the most part.
If you drop them they'll roll down a hill.
But big shiney cymbals are heavy.
And awkward and nasty as well.

So, one of these nasty, big cymbals.
Been beaten by Bill all these years.
Tripped Bill in a doorway, not thinking.
Left Bill in a heap on the floor.

Bill and Dondra went moving.
To a new home not far away.
Bill was covered in cuts, lumps and scrapes.
And bruises, and egg on his face.

So those nasty big cymbals.
Got bent and thrown in the trash.
Will he ever play the drums again?
Or just stick to the guitar?

Ann (the wife) heard there was an Abba tribute playing at our local club so we went to see them...Uggh! they sang 2 Abba songs(badly) and there was just one girl, i'm sure Abba had 2? they gave an excuse that the 2 girls had left the band and the one they had had just joined so didn't know their set...a likely story?
a friend and local solo artiste told me he was joining an Eagles tribute so we went to see them. he neglected to tell me they were completely under rehearsed, though their harmonies were good and the lead guitarist was really hot.
i like to put my own stamp on what i do so my own arrangements and vocal treatments. i also (sorry Roger) sing with an American accident(?) as all the music coming from my radio did in the 50 &60's

Absolutely brilliant Peatle. Believe me it's not just like this in NZ. The UK got conned by our politicians lies about Brexit. They said they could send home all the immigrants and make things better, but all they want to do is make more money for themselves by killing minimum wage and working standards and of course bring in more cheap Labour.

Sorry for the politics. Once again Peatle... brilliant.

hi jim. i like the words but when i played it i found the chords flowed better in a different configuration. if i have time (i'm babysitting as i'm officially on sick leave hmm)i'll record it quickly and send it to you.

C-G-Am-F| C-G-Am-F| C-D7-F | C-D7-F|| chorus is as you've done it. hope you don't mind the imposition?

Nice one Bill. at least you had a heavy cymbal in your hand when you went A over T, all I had was a small plastic ball and no lollipop! I must remember to complain to the NHS about that.

Doug. In my experience when carrying gear in and out of venues the drummer either has to "take this call, it's very important." or..."look I've carried in the snare drum, it takes me longer than the rest of you to set up, you've only got amps, cabs, guitars and the PA to set up, oh and put the bass drum there....no not there! THERE!

Happy house move Bill, and try not to fall again there's a good boy roll

Hi Doug. I'm not sure if it's a shallow body but it's certainly deeper than my Crafter. It's only sounding tinny to me when plugged in, it has a nice rich sound otherwise.

While I ordered the strap I was looking for some pics and couldn't decide which to get, I ended up getting both lots by accident(?) Freudian slip maybe? So now I have around 30 pics of varying thickness; skinnies cos I like a slap sound on acoustic, mediums for lead and heavies for bass. I wont need to buy anymore pics for a few years....hopefully.

Thanks for the advice. I may give them a try.

Looks. Action. Feel. Sound. these are the 4 things i look for in a new guitar.

so, an update about my Tanglewood. the LAFS were all there from the time i spotted it in the music shop. unfortunately i completely dislocated my shoulder so playing guitar was out of the question with my arm in a sling and pain each time i moved it, so no playing till a couple of days ago. so you know the good points now the not so good ones.

1. it needs new strings, i don't know how long it was on display but the strings are filthy but still holding their tone, mostly. change imminent
.
2. though it sounds good acoustically when plugged into my mixer it sounds really tinny and it has no built in chorus unlike my Crafter. so i tried it with a mic and it sounds superb, so that's how i will record her in future.

3. she came with a gig bag, tuner and guitar tutorial but no strap. that was not a problem in the shop but at home playing sat down between it's belly and my beer belly it keeps slipping off my lap  LOL. so as the wife wanted some hair products i took advantage of the situation and ordered a strap, pics and the Yes album i've been waiting for the price to drop for months. Heaven and earth, haven't heard it yet but soon. good old amazon

It all began before I was born I was to be called Vivian! So when the big day came my father and God mother "aunty Dolly" forgot the name and they wanted to call me Phillip anyway so....I prefer Phill as Phillip seems so formal.

I have other screen names like...iphillfine or misterbus

Thank God for that, arms are a much nicer word.

We were walking through town when I spotted a cutaway electrified acoustic. I went in the shop and tried it. It didn't feel as good as the Tanglewood I eventually bought but her indoors guilted me saying you don't need another guitar! So I walked away....but that guitar was on my mind until I got the Tanglewood.

I must be a borderline guitaraholic?

Any chance of a wife swap JJJ? Just till I get a couple more guitars?

Edited to add... I'm only kidding, there's actually 4 I fancy

LMAO TF - That image is very appropriate! I've been here over 10 years and I ain't going nowhere. The fun we have at chordiestock outweighs all of the spam posts by a ton - I have met and jammed with a bunch of chordie folks and every single one of them are an absolute blast to hang with!

I have to ask; is that an imperial ton, a metric tonne or an American ton?

Also and far more importantly, what does LMAO mean? I can think of one that Roger wouldn't like...so?
