Re: The road rolls on original song NEW EDIT (5 replies, posted in Songwriting)
New version a bit more up tempo with a key change at the end
The Road rolls on
D A
Dust devils dancin' on the borderline
G D
The sun beatin' down , I hear the engine whine
D A
And the road rolls on like a ribbon through the heat
G D
Days are getting longer I'm feeling beat
D A
Chasin' after sunsets 'as the miles just melt away
G D
the days pass by like tumble weeds
D A
The map in my pocket is folded and worn thin
G D
But the compass of my heart still pulls me from within
Chorus
D A
And the road rolls on , as I twist the throttle
G D
The days go by I drink another bottle
D A
Don't know where I'm going ,Don't know where I've been
G D
But I guess that I'll remember when I get there again
D A
As the miles just vanish into the haze and smoke
G D
I am a lonely man ,with a tale that I ain’t spoke
D A
I leave behind the echoes of a life I cant afford
G D
Just another hobo riding down the endless road
Bridge
Am F
Maybe its the freedom ,maybe its the pain
Am F
that keeps this engine running ,through the sun and through the rain
G F
I'm not looking for some answers 'just a road that has no end
Dm G
Just me and this old iron horse and storeys round the bend
Chorus
A E
And the road rolls on , as I twist the throttle
D A
The days go by I drink another bottle
A E
Don't know where I'm going ,Don't know where I've been
D A
But I guess that I'll remember when I get there again
Chorus
A E
And the road rolls on , as I twist the throttle
D A
The days go by I drink another bottle
A E
Don't know where I'm going ,Don't know where I've been
D A
But I guess that I'll remember when I get there again

Thanks Phill I rode motor bikes for many years in my misspent youth but had to stop once I met my wife because it terrified her especially after we lost two good friends ,but I can still remember and imagine the sound of my Triumph Trident as it sped through the Yorkshire dales .

Re: Robin Trower cover I cant wait much longer (4 replies, posted in My local band and me)
Cheers Jim I believe Robin used a univibe on this track and I dont have one so I cranked up the drive and added delay and chorus .It should be clearer vocal when we do it through the bands PA ,but great feedback as ever .We may only be a small group on here at the moment but I apreciate the way we can all give honnest coments about our various projects .
Re the trio they are a usefull tool but not good for live performance as they can give odd results . but if you percevere and play basic chords you can usualy get a good backing track . I then record it into the looper and build on that .

Re: Favourite Guitar (3 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
For me it's my 55 yr old Eko ranger 6 been my go to guitar since I was 15 ,I've played it nearly every day and it's still fantastic and never needed much maintenance into those 55 yrs other than string changes and a tuner button repair. It has one or two minor knocks and scratches but I would ever let it go.

It's just a loop practice to show the band. I pre recorded the loop and then played over it.If I was using it in solo performance I would let the sound guy control the guitar and backing level. It's all going through a Roland street cube in the vid, but I agree the guitar came out too loud

Richard I'm not sure if I will record it as It might cause a litle upset .I wrote it in the early hours a couple of days ago as I woke up with most of the lyrics in my head .Most of my songs happen that way so I just get up and write .But thanks to you and Jim for the positive feedback .
Of course as ever if any one wants to cover this version as it is or adapt it please feel free to

Topic: Social housing in the sky , an original song (3 replies, posted in Songwriting)
As some of you may be aware last in 20 23 my wife had a bad fall breaking her back .Luckily she survived and is well on the way to recovery now ,however it meant we had to move house as she could no longer cope with stairs , We were lucky enough to get a bungalow in a nice part of town which suited her ,however the down side was that it is on an estate at the top of a hill ,Who in there right mind builds old folks housing at the top of a hill . Still any housing in Settle is at a premium with most demanding stupidly high rent or purchase price . so we got a bargain really .Our kids did a great job on the refurb so we are comfortable ,but its much smaller than we are used to and I find ita bit clostrophobic ,but its a good place for my wife to recover .
I felt I had to vent my feelings the best way I know so I wrote the song below .Play with a JJ Cale country blues vibe . Hope you like it
Social housing in the sky by Graham Windle
Am
Its pretty quiet on the hill
Dm
Will I stay here ,guess I will
Am Dm
I get the feeling that I’m here to die
G E Am
Old folks social housing in the sky
Am
Its pretty small ,but warm and clean
Dm
Not the best place I have been
Am Dm
Rent is cheap , the neighbours smile
G E Am
Old folks social housing in the sky
Am
Yes I miss my Island home
Dm
But I’m to old to ever roam
Am Dm
If I could choose I’d go back there to die
G E Am
Not old folks social housing in the sky
Am
I’ll stay here ,at least for now
Dm
My wife loves it anyhow
Am Dm
I’ll do my best , at least I’ll try
G E Am
To live my life with old folks in the sky

Re: Don't Need AI (35 replies, posted in My local band and me)
No Phill I wrote the whole chorus then put it into the AI which then suggested a load of lyrics which I then sorted through and edited into verses which I felt appropriate I then put a chord progression together .I must admit I hadnt noticed the similaritys you mentioned . Its interesting how a different pair of ears pick s up on different things .
When I created this song I was reluctant to play it live but the response has been positive so I will include it in the set for a while .
