dino sometimes you get lucky and I did with the lighting,at first I was using two light stands that were high powered work lights I had them placed in front but they casts shadows which messed up the editing so I used some low intensity 40 and 60 watt bulbs in two pole lamps and I placed them on the sides and the shadows were gone and gave the video a nice look the audio was from the Fugi camera it was on sale at Walmart for $99.00 and well worth the money thanks again for your comment on You Tube smile

Thanks dino I shot the video with a Fugi HD camera against a greeenscreen then I used pinnicles HD unltimate collection program to do the picture in picture I used an old motion background and used the chroma key feature that comes with the program to wash out the green color and leave the motion video in the back, it takes a lot of time the background video is only 1 minute so I had to use 4 clips and trim the last to match the forground (me playing and singing) the file is converted to wmv and the program uploads it to you tube after looking at the first wmv video I didnt like it so I deleted it and I decided to go with the AVI format video it was 240 MB's because it was HD and a better video. I believe some programs can do the job faster but I am stuck with this for the moment  but I will be upgrading to a faster program but not for a few weeks thanks for taking a look smile

I visited microsofts web site and with the Windows 7 program installed in my Dell I was able to find some answers to speed up my new and old pc's.When you first startup several programs run automatically which adds to the boot time some of these are not necessary and you can decide which are important by going to the control panel and opening the task manager you will find a list of programs that run automatically at boot up and you would be surprised to find webcams, time and weather reports (on windows 7) in short some dont need to run till you have use for them and you can get more information depending on your computer make on the web but do the research first and get opinions before making any adjustments. smile

I have to agree, it makes sense most videos are recorded with a camera mounted on a tripod that has a 4GB card or higher my webcam has great optics and its not to much of a hassle to plug in a mini jack from my PA, so at least I can work around the poor audio quality smile

jerome.oneil wrote:

The expense in a webcam goes into the optics, not the audio.  Those things will have little tiny microphone diaphragms in them that are designed more for conversational levels than music recording.

Pete I dont understand how an expensive webcam can sound so crappy I have a cheap microsoft webcam that runs circles around the 920 for sound dont make sense thankyou for giving a looksee smile

bensonp wrote:

I never could get the sound good on my 920 either. That's why I bought a separate mic from the start. It's lousy. You sounded great on your video.

I am disapointed with the mics in the C920 webcam they are fine for talking but really bad for recording a acoustic guitar with vocals,no sustaining quality or tone the sure SM58 has never disapointed me I have had it for over 15 yrs along with a SM57 which I use to mic my acoustic guitar for recording.I am going to have to get in touch with the tech guys over the Pinnicle HD video program it seems they keep promting me to enter a code to activate the codecs over and over after I type in the code it tells me ok but each time I open the program and try to record from my webcam I get the same notice and its really a pain to have to type in 16 digit codes each time smile

jerome.oneil wrote:

What was the issue with the mics?  You are disappointed with the Shure, or you were disappointed with something else and went back to the Shure?

dino I made a test video going direct to the Pinnicle hd video program and webcam I did not use the hd but a lower resolution and I was really pleased with sound I was getting there are no video effects just me and my acoustic this was a sound check video only, the song is one I composed "Invisible star" I left a verse out and any solo work its less then 3 min in length I could upload it to facebook later but I can do a better arrangement smile

I finely finished hooking up all the gear including the new webcam,I have to say Im dissapointed with the mics I settled on useing my SM58 for vocals I installed the new Pinnacle HD video program and I am making very good progress understanding the funtions. My setup requires a lot of things to funtion correctly this is how I decided to setup.

Guitar>>> in ME-50 out >>>4 channel micro mixer___out to  Boss loopstation and out to 4 channel PA
Bass>>>>to  4 channel micro mixer_______out to Boss loopstation and out to 4 channel PA
Rhythm>>>to 4 channe micro mixer_______out to loopstation and out to 4 channel PA
Vocal SM58 direct to 4 channel PA
Now I have two options if I want to pre-record all instrumental tracks I go out to the BR-8 digital studio and out to the laptop and addd vocals and lead guitar on the fly I dont need headphones there are two speakers
the second option is to go from the 4 channel PA direct to the laptop,if I were only recording a guitar and vocal this would be my choice. all that remains is the placement of the 3 cameras and focusing the lighting this I can tackle tomorrow then make some practice demos and hone the mix and video effects and were good to go smile

Without knowing how many watts output or speakers its hard to rate it would depend on what you plan on using it for.it sounds ok in the video but thats under controlled condidtions not a noisy bar or outside I would do some research online and get this information before shelling out any money. smile

Speaking of Tommy Emmanual I recall watching a special on Les Paul several guitarist were on stage including Keith Richards and Tommy Emmanual it was kind of sad Les Paul was on his last few days of life and didnt really know or remember how great Tommy was but Tommy remembered how great Les Paul was and was very respectful, Les died a few days after the video was shot its like a passing of the guard a great player go's and another takes his place.I have seen both Les Paul in his youth and Tommy play talent wise its a tossup the only difference is Les was gifted with inovation and changed the music industry forever. smile
