+1 on that. My older son is 12 about to be 13 and he is all hormones and attitude.  Thinks he should have the freedome my 17 yr old daughter has.  Trying to lie about stuff and getting caught and then open definace and a Battle of wills.  He pushes my buttons every chance he gets unless he wants something. (good thing he still looks innocent while sleeping!)

Yesterday (Sunday the 2nd)  I was sitting in the Jr. Highschool Gym while my son had backet ball pratice for his youth legue.  I see a kid about 13 or 14 walk in with his mom and pop carying a acoustic.  I keep watching my son, but as I hear him playing Marcie Playground's sex and candy,
( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH3tqKZewa8 ) Im pretty impressed.  Mainly cause he is too young to have known about this song except from his parents.  After listening to him a few more min, I asked him if he knew how to play All along the Watch tower  and Hey Joe. He said no, I said I can teach you in 5 min.  It was cool.  We sat on the bleachers and I showed him how to play the rythm for the two songs (which he had never heard) taught him the Pentatonic scale, which he was using in the marcy playground song and didnt know what it was) and showed him barr chord tricks and root 5ths, and taught him some finger excersizes.  He was like a sponge. just absorbing it like crazy.  It felt good to be able to show the kid things he didnt know.  He is teaching himself primarily from you tube and learning from his  cowboy church band.

He is only here every 2 weeks, So I told him I would be sure to remember to bring my guitar and Ill show him some more stuff.

Just thought Idd share.

Anything more than this,, you need to talk to the sound guys at guitar center or concider renting a PA system. Some bands will rent the gear if they are not presently using it.

Nothing is further from the truth.  Not from hell but from a metal heart. Just close your eyes then, listen to the lyrics.

I dont care what they look like myself that is one butt kickin band!! great vocals and a really solid sound, the lead guitar work is mean and clean I liked it smile

THANKS RUSSELL!  FOR EVERYONES INFO,

THAT IS ROB HALFORD, BEST KNOWN AS the lead singer for Judas Preist.  he is a "METAL GOD" in the world of heavy metal. This is his solo band, HALFORD,
Current line-up:
Roy "Z." Ramirez : Guitar
Rob Halford : Vocals
Mike Chlasciak : Guitar
Mike Davis : Bass    [
Bobby Jarzombek
Roy Z is also the producer for Halford.

I think if you guys would open up your tastes a little you would hear what Russell and I hear. Kick ass playing.  Get into the spirit is heavy but it is also very positive and pro christmas.   Halfords renditons of the traditional songs are powerfull and moving.  I can accept that some dont like metal, but the talent in this band is incredable.

MERRY METAL CHIRSTMASS EVERYONE---GET INTO THE SPIRIT smile

However, I do think that with the vast collection of eclectic audiophiles around here, If you need a particular mp3 and can not find it on YT,  Someone would be bound to have it and be able to e-mail it to you.

As  a side note, I rarelyget on  my soapbox about religion.  If anyone was offended, that was not my intent. I broke my own ruel about talking religion.  - I usually dont, that and politics.  with a lawyer uncle and minister father,,,, I listened to too many arguements on church and state.  I also grew up with a inside perspective as a PK. (Preachers Kid).  If you have ever dated the preachers daughter / son (joke intended and also a great song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNdUt0sTRuI ) then you might have a clue. LOLOLOL

On the topic of "Being Christian” I find that it’s become a way to try and tell someone else your better than them.  I get so sick of all the ppl who profess to being so blessed by god or special because they have been "saved" and then become evangelical.  Hey if it works for you great but using it on Face Book on all your post does not equal true Christianity.  You can keep it to yourself. Do not try and tell me how special you are because you’re more Christian than the next person.  That would be an OXYMORON.
As I stated in the last post.  I was raised in the church, I have good values and the 10 commandments are a good set of guide rules.  I am spiritual; I like to think I treat others as I would like to be treated.  As I got older I just began to realize that looking at history, the worst crimes against mankind have been and still are done in the name of religion.  I loved and still hold close to my heart the many summers at church camp.  Yes we went to church every day, but there were kids there who were not Episcopal, had never been to a church before or after.  We got an intimate dose of spirituality and being able to trust a total stranger after spending a week or two with them.  Did kids leave being born again? Once in a while, but more often than not they left with a bond of friendship that still holds after 40 years

indie music as far as I am led to believe is rock music that does not get mainstream airplay on radio. Or thats what it was before ut so many "indie" bands are in the charts now

there was a haevy rock band ( stinger?? ) that were christian rock band, Not quite too sure about the name but they wore yellow stripy costumes and looked like a bunch of ...........@%^%^&%^&%^&
I do not care too much for christian bands, I think  i willlabel myself an atheist musician if they can label themselves, lol

Ken

lol That was Stryper, but lets remember this was the pennicle of the "Hair Band" they did look abit "light in the saddle"  They were pop metal for the girls.  Yet they were cool enough at the time to bring my buddy and myself into the fold.  We would cruse the mall and the main strip blasting out the Battle hym of the republic by them and a few others. this version is really good.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhkYdD-QlKk.  The band that I really got into who was heavier is one called Barren Cross.  Very Iron maiden influenced. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpMDb1KAgfA
6 years ago I had a christian rock radio show. it was called GODROCKS.  I played both of these bands pluse the current ones of the day(IE Toby Mack and little did anyone know then Chevelle) Chevelle has since gone mainstream yet retain some of their core values.

I will agree that many of the newer church bands are watering down music and replaceing lyerics with "praise" lyerics.  My neighbor is a Awesome guitarist and he has always played in his church bands.  He invited me to one rehersal, I kept waiting for some powerfull accents to wake me up. They never happened.  I grew up with a father who is a Episcopal minister.  I may not be as christian as i should be, but all the years in the church taught me on thing.  PIPE ORGANS RUEL.  A well played organ (no side comments LOLOL) will totally rock the heavans.  Dad lead the campagin to have a whole new organ installed in the church in WV, After the organ was installed, my dad caught my brother and his friend in the church and my brothers friend was playing Boston tunes on it.  Sounded great,,but dad was pissed LOLOL.

So if the music pulls young folks in and keeps them out of trouble,, what ever works.  I personally like the stuff that gets your blood pumping.

Yeah - you say that now. Don't come knocking on my bunker door on nuclear holocaust day and ask for a single 1 of my 200 cases of Twinkies. smile

At least you wont have to worry about preserving them! they last forever!  I would be more inclined to worry about some hermetically sealed gitar strings! They have more than  one use,, after they go dead you can use them in case zombies attack to cut their heads off!  lol tongue

100% pick, never learned finger picing, might fumpble around with it sometimes and try to fake it, but usually strum with a pick and use pick on strings like a finger pick.

Sometimes, when I notice it, I get a neck adjustment and polish.

2&3 nope.
