Something that annoys me a great deal is the attempt to have automated service options that don't work, especially when there are clear fallacies in the instructions.

Example, a channel that I watch frequently now shows on my TV as something to which I don't subscribe. It says I can subscribe by pressing OK on my remote. So I pressed OK on my remote and it said that it can't use that feature on that channel. So, why did they put the statement there then? There was a second way to resolve it by calling a phone number, so I called it. That didn't work. It suggested using their on-line service. So I went on-line and it said I needed to call the 24x7 Support option. I called that and it said I needed to call back during business hours. Um, THEY told ME that the business hours were 24x7 for that feature. So then it had an e-mail option. I clicked on it. The form requires me to put their e-mail address in. They do not provide their e-mail address. So that's an enormously stupid feature. There was just absolutely no way for me to resolve this issue tonight, DESPITE them offering (supposedly) four different 24x7 support methods of resolving it. Chasing this down wasted 45 minutes of my time and royally ticked me off. Why lie repeatedly to your customers, sending them on repeated wild goose chases, before they can use your service? It makes no sense.

I get my internet from these guys too.  They had a failure about eight weeks ago and fixed it quickly enough.  However, my e-mail hasn't worked since and for some reason my on-line account has been locked out so I can't fix it.  What a waste of time.

Your answer in 2 parts:

1. Minor Pentatonic scale
2. Major extended Pentatonic scale

You can pretty much play a fill for ANY song with just those two scales.
Exception being gypsy or foreign type songs.

Kid next door came over and announced, " I have a guitar." I told him to go get it. He returned with a Wal-Mart special First Act cardboard p.o.s. guitar shaped object. I restrung it for him with some of my less-rusted backup strings, tuned it up and sent him home to play it for mom and dad.
His parents later told me he broke it over his sister's head. A fitting end for a tool that could never satisfy. A proper guitar might have killed the poor girl.

Hey man, my first electric guitar was one of those First Act me-480's they sell in wal-mart!
The wife got it for me for my 30th birthday....still have it too!

I have two cheap guitars. My Squier '51 and my Yamaha acoustic.
One that I've invested time and lots of money into and made an extremely smooth and great player which I take everywhere with me.
The other I have spent a total of 35 dollars on (Minus strings) and it never fails to make me smile.

Cheap guitars are not bad guitars at all.
They just make the people that buy highline custom-shop guitars feel buyers remorse...thats why the snobs are always hating.

I would like to learn the Solo to "SIN" by Stone Temple Pilots... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5b89n9YEuo
The solo is at the end of the song strangely enough...it's kinda like an outro.

If you have the time I'd appreciate the help as I cannot find many STP lessons on youtube for their other-than-"Plush" songs.

Thank you,

I started to suffer from it mildly.
The cure was getting a fatter neck (Allparts) and learning a new playing technique (Hendrix style).
The cause was my long fingers trying to play on a thin neck.

Dm

I keep an old CRT around just for those times.
It may be large and heavy and totally ruin my guitar sound when it's on...but it's reliable.

Heya,

Cheap guitars work great. My acoustic yamaha is a former party-guitar that has been around GWU in DC for years getting passed around and beat up. It had a huge dent kicked into the front of the body below the bridge when I picked it up for 30.00 and it smelled like beer, armpits and cigarettes.

But with a little love and a lot of repairs...it's a wonderful sounding guitar that I wouldn't trade.

I can only remember 5 songs.

"Alison" by Slowdive
"Hotel California" by The Eagles
"Funk 49" by The James Gang
"Jezebel" By Sade
"Santa Claus is coming to town"

And I can only remember those while I'm not in front of any crowds or listeners.
Once that happens I lose it and fall back to playing everything in lead form.

No such thing as a stupid question.

I started putting electric strings on my acoustic from the day I got it.
Acoustic strings are just too big and hard to manage for me.
And Electric strings sound just as loud.
I use 10's on my '51 and my Yamaha Acoustic
Give it a try, I promise you'll like it!

I'm glad you're loving the new lowered action. I had the same experience when I first did the nut-mod.
I love my acoustic and my electric...they're soooo much easier to play now.

Mine sounds fine in almost anything I plug it into.
Headphones, mixing board, you name it...

But there was one time I used it and it just didn't sound good at all.
It was at a church I was visiting in Texas. They only had one set of speakers that the mics, organ and keyboard were routed through.
I couldn't get my amplug loud enough to play and compete without distorting a lot and it just sounded horrible.
I would up just taking it out and plugging directly into the sound board and diming my guitar volume.

Now...at my church...it sounds great!
But we have 2 speakers for each instrument and front and rear speakers for the mics.

I'm sure that there are chords that sound good together even if you've never heard music.
But you'd definitely have to know how to read.

I don't think a caveman could possibly know what to do with a guitar besides smash bugs and small animals with it.

I would never ship my guitar.
When I travel I take it with me on the plane with my FAA waiver taped to the front of my gig bag. It goes right in the overhead. And if they have any issues I would slack the strings and take the neck off and stick it in all in my backpack and DARE them to try anything.

I've seen the carelessness of shipping workers. I couldn't even consider putting my guitar that I love and spent so much time building into anything less than one of those aluminum shell internally reinforced guitar boxes.

Cam and Toots, we've had a touch of your summer this year... high 90's all of July and just horribly humid all summer long.  Would you like to take my winter this year and I'll take yours?  lol

Old Doll - Although you have all that rain, you don't have amazingly hot summers, and you don't get too much snow either.  I don't know how well I'd fair with rain all the time but I could do without the very extreme 4 seasons we have in NY.

I miss the 4 seasons of home (NY).
Here in Maryland we have 2 seasons...

Winter...then straight into Summer.

No spring...no fall.
Just blazing hot or freezing cold.

I swear, if it wasn't for my awesome church I'd be lookin for somewhere else to work and lay my head.
