That one is super cool and funny as heck - the video makes it even funnier..  Ray Stevens had an unbelievably sharp wit.

Ray Stevens was always one of my faves- mostly because of his comedic approach.  He has incredible vocal abilities - yet makes you smile as you listen to his songs.

Thanks for sharing.

hilarious

so I was just messing around waiting for my daughter to come home today and thought I would check out Sunday Morning coming down on youtube

I came across this ----  and got a great education in songwriting history.
for instance.....
Never knew who Sue Brewer was - now I do. smile
Did not know what the boar's nest was  - now I do.
Never knew how these people all hung out as young struggling stars - now I do.
Never knew Willie Nelson was such an awesome guitar player - do now !

There is a series of 5 of these that all play one after another.  I totally recommend watching it - it is so intersting.

# 1 does have Sunday Morning Coming Down  in it.

hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I was thinking about how hard it must have been for the parents of that 8 year old that was killed at Manchester.
I cannort fathom the pain and anguish of losing a child as such ( or any other way per se). So this song came out.  Sorry it's sad, but it was just how I was feeling.  Jim

RIP Greg Allman

So sad

I am going to see if I can get through Sunday Morning Coming Down - I like that song a lot

Unlike Zurf and BGD - I never worry about tricky timing bc I have enough trouble just getting the chords close to being right.  smile
I wouldn't even know what tricky timing looks or sounds like !
enjoy the weekend all  Happy Memorial Day (Monday) to all in the states,  (my son in law just deployed so it's been a rough couple days for my family)

I was driving in my car yesterday and Kris Kristoferson sang this song....it was awesome.

If I had any singing ability I would give it a go.

can't wait to hear some chordie folks knocking it out!

Bill,
I was just thinking of you today- I said hmmmm Bill hasn't been on here and leaving great critiques!
AS far as the colonoscopy - I am 64 and have avoided it totally.
I do not have any desire to have one
I know it's coming - but hey - I ain't in no hurry !

I can't offer you any advice- but I will say - Poor Dondra !!

ok ... I read this post the other day that Phill put out......

Re: G'day to all.

Hi Bushy, from one old fogey to another my gigging days are rapidly coming to an end too. It's funny how when you start out you think you'll go on forever but as friends diminish and your idols get to look old and wrinkly, your fingers ache and you can't straighten up after bending and standing up singing and playing guitar for 2 hours really hurts, you realise it's time to hang up the Stetson and lose the southern twang. I'm not looking forward to that day but i know it's not far off. So let's grow old disgracefully....

got me thinking about how many times I thought about quitting what I love to do.....

I put the two together and said to my self - bulls***  - Phill, Graham, Russell, Beamer, Mojo, BGD, Zurf, TF, Bill, and all the rest -  ain't never quitting as long as its physically possible for them to continue.   smile

Some how this song came out of my head from that...  hope you like it.

[SONG]
{t: Seven Times}
intro
[G]    [C]  [D]  [G]

Verse 1
[G]  down at the corner bar, [C] playing [D]pool
[G]Hanging with my friends , an’[C] acting[D] cool
When this [G]beautiful girl  just[C]  happened [D]by
a [C]little piece heaven that  [D]caught my [G]eye

[G]guess  it only took a [C]little [D]while
[G]she looked my way and [C] flashed her [D]smile
[G]I was going  over to [C]ask her [D]name,
when [C]she kissed her boyfriend, oh, [D] what a [G]shame

Chorus
[C]It doesn’t always work out, like I planned
Just[G] living my life the best  I can
[C]Work  and sleep are  gonna have to wait
Cuz there’s [D]always something I can  celebrate
[C] keep  on rocking in this crazy  town
can’t [G]see no reason to  slow it down
[C]I'm still the master of my own fate
if  I[D] fall down seven times – I’ll  [C] get  up [G]eight

Verse  2
[G] seems I’m always trying to [C]beat the [D] odds
[G] it’s always hard for me to [C]keep a [D]job
[G]So what is it I’m always  [C]dreaming  [D]of
[C]Trying something new  or [D] falling in [G]love

[G] there ain’t nothing I’m  a[C]fraid to [D]try
I [G] wanna lean against the[C]bluest [D]sky
I’m [G] not one of those that likes  [C]sitting  [D] still,
Probably [C] ought to stop, but   I[D] never  [G]will

Chorus
[C]It doesn’t always work out, like I planned
Just[G] living my life the best  I can
[C]Work  and sleep are  gonna have to wait
Cuz there’s [D]always something I can  celebrate
[C] keep  on rocking in this crazy  town
can’t [G]see no reason to  slow it down
[C]I'm still the master of my own fate
if  I[D] fall down seven times – I’ll  [C]get  up [G]eight

if  I[D] fall down seven times – I’ll [C] get  up [G]eight
if  I[D] fall down seven times – I’ll  [C] get  up [G]eight
