I believe that you left out an important component........ physical ability..... some people have the coordination, mental capacity, and physical attributes that are special.
ironically, I was just thinking about this last night.... what sets the greatest of all time apart from the others ?.......
For singers - I believe it's that special voice.... there are a million great singers ( which I'm certainly not one of!
).... but there's only one Pavarotti, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Barbara Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Rod Stewart, Freddy Mercury, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, John Lennon. Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin. ( And I know there are more!)
These are the voices that you don't need to look on the screen to see who's singing...instant recognition because of their unique sound.
The same goes for guitarists....... there are loads of great guitarists, but the ones that had the ability to make that guitar sing in a special and unique way, they are the ones that stand apart from the others.
Very similar to greatest Athletes of all time - same criteria.
I also believe that emotion/ personality / charisma comes into play - while I was very, very impressed with this young lady's performance - I thought it was emotionally deprived. I love the musicians that exhibit passion and excitement for that the song they are playing or singing, and show that it really means something to them. Hers came off as a musician that practiced and practiced, nailed the mechanics beautifully... but lacked the heart and soul of the music. Just my opinion.
Thanks for the thought provoking thread - I'm sure it will get some responses. ![]()

TF
that is astounding.
me thinks you underestimate the # of hours she put in.
It was beautifully FLAWLESS !
Thanks for sharing
Jim
Mojo - This is great ! A masterpiece in fact. Lyrics are top notch... playing and singing is spot on !

Of course I'll be in on this.
Let me know what you got and where you want to go.
I'll give it my best shot.
Jim
Charlie Pride - Excellent performer.
Thanks for the music this am Badeye - enjoy your day off ! ![]()
I think I must be immune to those ads - I only see the great stuff that my fellow Chordians post. Although in reality they are there, I rarely even pay any attention to them. They can put as many as they want on here and get all sorts of funds for chordie as long as we get the opportunity to do what we do at no cost. This place is fantastic - made that way by the wonderful people participating on this site, not by the ads.

I was shocked at that price as well.
Was just browsing some tunes on YT and thought my friends would enjoy this. This guitar player is good to the point of it being unfair to the rest of us.
BGD
OMG - he plays it with such ease... its like the guitar is a part of him. That was really good
I also loved the small child playing the drums in the back - cute!

I can't speak for Donnieclark, but your explanation just cleared up a lot for me.
Although one question I still have - One volume knob says " Clean " - the other says " Overdrive " - What is the difference ?
I have a Marshall 15 amp and I have struggled to find the right settings. This helped a lot.
I also have a 200 A Fender Frontman that I got when I bought my first electric guitar - I had no clue what I was buying. It puts out a lot of sound. Great for playing in my backyard - keeps stray cats and critters away - used it as the sound system for music at an outdoor party, but not too useful in my house though
my wife doesn't really appreciate it. ![]()
Now all I have to do is get Russell to come down and show me how to use my Trio !!
I'm a complete dunce with the electronic components !
Thank You TF
Thanks Peatle. ![]()

My song Just Outside Of Nashville was done in studio by my friends Jim and Rachel down in Nashville.

here is the chopro version in my songbook
I've had the opportunity to watch the Special Education teacher in our school work with her class over the past few months. She is so vibrant, loving, and caring for these kids. I've been a teacher for 40 years, and I can tell you she is a very unique and special teacher. Yesterday as I was in her room I just was amazed about how she helps these high needs kids in so many ways. So last night I wrote this song as a tribute to her and all of the teachers of special needs children. I tried to write it as a voice of the children in her class.
Hope you like it.
