Chordie originally had this system but it disappeared when there was an revamp about 3 years ago. It was re-introduced in May and a Honoured Member title was added. For clarification this is how it works:
Junior Member for those with less than 25 post.
Member for those with between 25 and 99 posts.
Senior Member for those with between 100 and 999 posts.
Honoured Member for those with more than 1000 posts.
Wayne for those of us that have a few decades under out belt and have lost some of the grey cell in the cranium, well for me really
, what the heck does AARP stand for? Auxillary Air Raid Patrol??
Roger
Hi Matt,
An excellent repair and a more difficult one that the one I have just done. Kudos.
Roger
Back in the 60's you could buy just two types of guitar strings, smooth, flat wound for electric and wire wound for acoustic and as I remember different gauges were not available. The flat wound gave quite a mellow tone and electric guitarists started using the wire wound to get a beefier sound. Today wire wound are the standard for both types of guitar so I do not think you will have any problem switching one for the other.
If you do try it please let us know what difference, if any, it makes.
Roger
I agree with Jerome a fabulous deal. Your guitar angel must have been smiling on you that day.
Roger
Zguitar, the neck was absolutley straight when restrung and tuned so no adjustment was required. The truss rod mounting is in the unbroken part of the neck so I am hopeful that it will be OK.
Amy, the owner, who has at least 5 other guitars that I know of, came in today to do some recording and we left his guitar on a stand in the studio and said nothing. He noticed that there was a guitar similar to his and asked if he could play her. He started to play, looked and looked again and said "This cannot be my guitar but it is!". He was over the moon, so another satisfied customer.
Roger
I have had a look at the original post and Amy is correct. The link from Flickr should always have 'http://farm5' at the start and '.jpg' at the end if you have the correct adress.
Roger
Hi Wayne,
I have not heard that song before but it is one I am now going to learn. A great recording and your new baby sounds wonderful, I hope you have many happy years together.
Roger
Hi Rhiannon,
I have missed you, your posts and your songs my nearly grandaughter
.

I am pretty sure that it is Bm

Dirty Ed wrote:I didn't use 't:' or 'st:' though, could that have been the problem?
Ken
Without these it will not work properly and the whole page appears in a larger font.
Roger
I have a Digitech Vocalist Live 2 which is very similar and I have to agree it is a great tool to have. This is a demo of mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH4s-1OwsOc

Pix after giving her a good work out I cannot feel that she has been repaired and although the stain did not take on the timber that had the original stain sanded off, on a first glance it looks like a grain marking.
Thanks Russ.
Roger
Slowing the tempo somewhat here is my absolute favourite female singer, Little Miss Dynamite herself. Brenda Lee with a sad song 'All Alone Am I': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnApJcGBDFY
Roger
I like this one too Jeff but would like to hear how it should be, can I twist your arm a bit for a recording?
Roger
Hi Dalton and welcome to Chordie,
I appears you are an accomplished performer and as Daddycool mentioned it would be nice to hear a recording of the song to know the tempo and melody it should have. I enjoyed playing and singing it my way though
.
Roger
Great collaboration from you guys again, you really work well together. Another feather in your caps.
Roger
The 12er has been got out and tuned and then I had great fun playing this one, in fact I 'Badeyed' it. You realy should record this song, in fact I am tempted to do so myself.
Thank you and well done,
Roger
Hi Maddie and welcome to Chordie,
This question keeps on coming up so I am going to cheat and paste a previous reply from my collegue Mekidsmom (hope you don't mind Amy).
The website admin has had legal copyright problems and has had to remove/block some songs. Here's a link to a thread with some more information. It's not necessarily the answer you're looking for, but a discussion of what's been happening with that issue. Apparently the code placed to block the appropriate parties is a little haphazard, as a lot of folks in the US have noticed being blocked from time to time. I'd suggest trying again, or checking out some of the other links given. Maybe try without logging in, try again with logging in... or my BEST guess is that you need to edit your TIME ZONE. I'm not sure how admin has the code written, but I'll guess it has to do with time zone!

Toney, it has not been priced yet but I will let you know when I find out. I too prefer the faded look better than the original cherry-burst or red-burst as think it was originally described. Mind you after 46 years it is hardly surprising that she has faded somewhat.
Roger
Thanks Wayne, Zurf and Pete.
Scott, it was more a labour of love and an experiment to see if it would repair so I did not log the time spent. Also sourcing materials like woodstain can be very time and petrol consuming here in Portugal. However I estimate that the actual work hours stripping her, repairing and refinishing the neck then the rebuilding was about 5 hours. Howard, who owns the shop I work part time in, took an hour and a half to make and fit the false truss rod nut cover. Of course there was an extra hour or so playing her to make sure she was OK which is not accounted for
. It is very much a stop and start job waiting for materials to dry.
Roger
Hi Dale and welcome to Chordie,
Give this a whirl: http://eltonchords.com/chord_library/sadsongs.txt
Roger
Hi Ken,
I hope you (and Ark or Jeff) don't mind but I took the liberty of correcting your formatting of this song. Go into edit and you will see that it must start with 'song' and finish with '/song' in square brackets. It must also have 't:' and 'st:' in curly brackets for the title and subtitle. Otherwise it was OK. I will get my guitar out shortly and give it a whirl.
Roger
Great guitar Wayne, I am looking forward to seeing and listening to some videos of you playing her,
Roger
OK then, it was a long break down the neck and I guessed that gluing her would be sufficient. So she was glued and lightly clamped so as to not squeeze out all the adhesive and left for 48 hours to dry well. Then quite a lot of filling was needed to replace the splintered timber from the edges of the joint. Plenty of sanding down using ever finer glasspaper (1000 grit to finish) and then staining. The original timber did not take the stain too well although the filler coloured fine, and then several coats of lacquer later she looks like this:

The headstock had a black highly polished veneer finish and a large part of this was missing so a custom made truss rod nut cover was made to hide the damage:

She was restrung 24 hour ago and I am pleased to say she plays very well. The owner is coming in on Thursday and does not know that his written off guitar is back in one piece so I hope he will be pleasantly surprised and pleased with the result.
Roger
Great stuff Mark. I had no doubts that you would go down well with your audience and thoroughly enjoy the experience. Parabéns.
Roger
