Johnny Horton - Classic History in Music form !  I use his stuff in my 8th Grade Social Studies class all the time.
This and Sink the Bismark were on every bar's Jukebox in America in the 70's I think - easy for drunk men to sing along with smile
Thanks for sharing.

[G]Long before I[Cmaj7]started  [D]crying
[G]oh, I loved you,   [Cmaj7]  I loved [D] you
[G]oh.I loved you [Cmaj7] I loved  [D]you
[G] ///    [Cmaj7] /  [D]/

[C]but its  lonely nights lasting [G] way too [C] long
[C]yeah,  lonely nights lasting [G] way too [C] long

[G]Long before your [Cmaj7]midnight  [D]creeping
[G]Long before you [Cmaj7]were de[D]ceiving
[G]Long before I [Cmaj7]stopped  be[D]lieving
[G]oh, I loved you,   [Cmaj7]  I loved [D] you
[G]oh.I loved you [Cmaj7] I loved  [D]you
[G] ///    [Cmaj7] /  [D]/
[G] ///  [G]///

Chorus
[C] I never thought this  could [F]happen to [C]me
[C] not at all how I [G] thought it would be
[C]I’ve tried to figure out [F]what went [C]wrong
[C]but its  lonely nights lasting [G] way too [C] long
[C]yeah,  lonely nights lasting [G] way too [C] long

[C]  its just lonely nights lasting [G] way too [C] long
[C] its lonely nights lasting [G] way too [C] long

Seahawks at full strength would have a tough time winning

I think I got a great deal today
I went into a local guitar shop to buy some guitar pics
As I was in there a guy was selling his guitar on consignment
He wanted $600
I got it for $500 including the case
I played it - checked it over, had the guitar shop guy check it - flawless!

It's a Gibson - 2007 Les Paul Studio made in USA
Pretty good day!
I will post pics as soon as I get to my computer

Great music - still love his rendition of William Tell Overture the best.
Pic on screen is backwards - he is right handed.

Thanks Badeye for superb music choice

Roger

That is a super photo -    was this your band or just guys getting together to jam on guitars ?
too bad you all couldn't get together to stage a re-take  - a now and then re-mix!
And this brings me to the point I make all the time to my students - digital media pictures today -  a generation from now - everyone is going to be sorry that they didn't print out hard copies of their photos - instead they get deleted from phones and other forms  - because the storage card is full !
We are lucky to have access to these treasures.

Thanks for sharing - you guys were a HANDSOME BUNCH OF DUDES !

And somehow the song Joe's Garage by Frank Zappa popped in my head -   smile
nice 12er !

Very nice.....  superb social commentary
I 've must've had those thoughts a million times..  always questioning that if somehow I won the mega lottery and had millions - what would I do - would I just become one of them or would I really make a difference in some other people's lives.   The tragedy is that there are so many impoverished persons, it is an impossible task ( including the ones that don't really want to help themselves).  The economic division in societies around the globe is growing at an alarming rate  - someday the price will have to be paid.

I anticipate a cool rendition of this when your voice is healthy smile !

just came a cross this info...The name Opie has a historical reference rooted in music. Opie Cates was a prominent band leader in the 1930s and 1940s. Andy Griffith and the show’s producer, Sheldon Leonard, were big fans of Cates’ music so they decided to honor him.

Very good track.  I agree with Dino, it has a Fogerty sound to the vocals for sure. Gary nailed it!
