Probably it is my fault. Ive just made a (major) change to the structure here, and this is just the sort of things that might happen.

However, I am totally unable to reproduce this. Could you please be more specisifc about where to click.

This is a digest of several posts/suggestions I've got lately:

There should be possible to only browse certain songs (easy songs, songs with chord grids, tablatures etc).

The first step to implement this, would be to categorise the songs. I will start with adding a label to these pages:

<a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.chordie.com/allsongsartists.php/songtitle/Blowing+in+the+Wind/songartist/Dylan%2C%2BBob/index.html" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/allsongsartists. … le/Blowing +in+the+Wind/songartist/Dylan%2C%2BBob/index.html</a>

The label could be "difficulty:easy/medium/advanced/tablature"

It is impossible to determine how hard a tablature is to play, but I can do it on chords.

I need feedback on these two subjects:

* Any suggestions for icons/images to illustrate difficulty?

* What is an easy/medium/advanced song? What chords? Should I make other categories? Very easy (only G,D,C,A)

After this, I could make it possible to filter the songs out all together (like setting that you only will view tabs, or only easy chord songs). But one step at the time...

If you are going to post urls, please use the url-function

You can write the url within brackets like this: <div class="pre"><pre>http://www.chordie.com</pre></div>

Or you can use the toolbar. It is the 7.icon from the left. A globe and a link-mark.

Hi BanjoEds,

I really do not know..<img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">

This forum is built upon an opensource forum. Ive removed some functionality, just to get things simpler. Maybe I should remove the buddy-list as well... Espesially if it does not have any function..

There should be a link in the FAQ.

BTW: Did you check out the inline help?

See separate post about the new feature that is letting you edit the songs in your songbook.

I've had hundreds of requests for this - in different forms.

You can now finally edit the songs in your songbook. There should be no more reasons to copy the songs to Word for editing.

Check the "edit" link behind the songs in your songbook, and let me know what you think!

I do not know how to fix this. It is the same for all browsers/OS. Style-info is not copied to the clipboard. Any ideas?

What are you using Word for? Just for editing the songs?

Could you please post a few examples of such messages. And the urls for them.

Good idea, but it would in that case only be a persons published songbooks (privacy reasons).

Guess the "Chordie feedback"-forum can be used for questions from me to the users as well.

Seems like a lot of people don't notice the "show edit/publish options" within the songbook. They therefore miss all the features letting you manage your songbook, change instrument and publish your book.

I could of course leave this always on, but I feel like the window is overloaded with features then. As you might have noticed, I like minimalistic user interfaces...<img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_wink.gif" border=0 alt="Wink">

Any ideas how this "hidden features" could be a bit less hidden. Could the label be changed? Some explanatory text? And also...did you find these features right away yourself?

Editing/annotating the songs in the songbook could be very nice. I will look into that. I've made a few changes to the songbook system lately. And this might actually noe be very hard to do.

I will also look into the ranking. I might even use parameters like how often the song is added to the songbook etc. It is not trivial to do this, but it might be possible. Don't hold your breath though...<img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_wink.gif" border=0 alt="Wink">

I did not understand the folder system. Please explain.

Unfortunately your last suggestion is very difficult to do. The reason is that Chordie is basically a search engine.

I did move your post.

I am using a open source forum called FUDForum. I have changed it a bit, but there are still features there that I know very little about. Like the poll-feature.

We'll try that out. If it works, and people are enjoying it, Ill keep it. If not, it might be removed.

The strange thing about these bugs are that several thousand probably have noticed this without telling me. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_rolleyes.gif" border=0 alt="Rolling Eyes">

Yes, it was a stupid typo. Thanks a lot for telling me. It should now be fixed.

Who is Israel Kamakawiwo? Well, he has just gotten a lot of extra publicity. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">

It is not very hard to add keyboard as one of the instrument, and show piano-tangents instead of chord-grids.

I did try that a while ago, but was not able to find a good chord-definition-list for keyboard.

For guitar I have lists like this:
G => 320001,1

Defining the chord/frets. These can be easily translated into chord-grids.

I do not know how to play piano, and don't know if such lists exists at all.

So if anyone can help, I'll consider it..

Thanks for telling me. I forgot to make that fix public.

It should show now. I might add a dropdown-box there instead. Letting you choose where to add the song. Do you think that will work?

618

(8 replies, posted in About Chordie)

Fixed! It was a local problem caused by special characters in the songbookname. I will find a way to prevent such names in the future.

Thanks for reporting this. The name of the songbook shoud no longer appear on the top tab. It should appear below the "add to songbook" link.

The reason is that it is no longer room enough on the top, after adding the forum-tab.

Ill look into the you did report. Anyone else experiencing this?

Chordie indexes lots of databases, and formats the songs on the fly. It does a very good job with so called chopro-files, and a fairly good job with plain text files.

If it is not able to format the song, it will be presented as plain text (no layout). Im improving this algorithm all the time, and more songs are being formatted all the time.

It is very hard to hide all none formatted songs, but Im working on several mechanisms to remove/report malformatted songs.

I will fix it, but it might take a few hours.

I am not to sure about the categories yet, and they will most likely change in the next days.
