I agree with all here, learning the guitar is a painfull task! Im shure you all rememeber time your fingers started to cry out in pain just before they get guitarist tips on them, but dont read any of these posts learners without realising being a musiction is one of the most rewarding talant there is as you will soon find out when you play and get cheers and bring smiles to peoples faces!

And Poli is right, soon you will never remember your mistakes becouse even if you dont know it you are always getting better.

This is probly a bit over the top but if you have any sound recording equipment you could record notes/chords and things and play it back on a mp3 or CD player and then you will learn how to tune quite fast

rereading that it sounds alot worse then when i thought of it...but ill post my opinion anyway

Ok so...

Ive been playing the guitar for nearly two years. Im 15 now and taking music as a GCSE course, i play acoutic rythem, with the exceptions of small riffs in beatle songs and such. My music teacher has been pressuring me to change this and he even said that my music (i write my own songs aswell) and playing is not up to standard and i need to change the way i play. This has kind of thrown me off my guitar...i havent played in quite a while and my fingers have gone back to the soft tips they once were anyone know of any acoustic songs/ exercises to try and get me back into guitaring? I dont want to change the way i play really as i love what i used to play so why change? dont know why i quit....

Anyway i like stuff like the eagles, the beatles, pink floyd, the rollings stones and things like that. Any suggestions?

do you get lessons mate? ive been playing for around a year and a bit and i dont feel any progression and i dont get lessons. so i advise you to get some lessons also heres a good site to go on www.ocmusic.com theres a page on there about modes, what i do is play one mode around 20times each day for a week, then by the end of the week im perfect at it and can do loads of inprov stuff with it. and for chords: get a metronome and set it to a slow speed and with each tic change chord, then make it faster and faster till you can change in a blink of an eye.

hope some of that helps.

I am not a poser, and i understand what you are saying about your live playing but that isnt relevant to this topic, by all means tell us all about your musical genius, but it shouldnt be told by immaturity like you have shown. It isnt a free country, there are rules and people are punished for breaking them, i hope you realise that. Now i will not take part in this convosation with you anymore as there are plenty more people with more manners and better views then you on here.

good night.

Didnt i say dont reply with insults towards me?

i have had plenty of private messages from people saying well done on that post, and how you need to learn to respect other people. Just grow up ok, i havent even bothered reading threw the rest of that message as its the same bullcrap everytime. so please, do the 90% of the people on here who seem to hate your opinion a favor and stop going on about how great you are and how im such a ''retard'' also i would like to say, thats quite offencive to alot of people on here so stop using fowl launguage and go play to your 500 fans who eagerly await your etheral presence.

p.s. im glad your not replying again on here so i can say(since im such a little kid who sits in his room wishing i could play my guitar so much better just like you, my absolute idol in life) please just grow up.

p.s.s. being inbred means your perents our from the same family..not that you have sex with your sister. Imbacile.

When i started writting or needed a song in a few seconds i wrote a simple sentance like ''the cat sat on the mat'' then took out all the letters that our chords e.g E A A E A. the just strum that a little till the words pop out of you, be it about a cat on a mat or how your feeling, its all good practice i thought.
