Your French is excellent.

Where I have an excellent vocab of nouns, my conjunctions sont tres merd; I still can't make past and future tense easily but I can make myself understood and can communicate about a lot of subjects (primarily to (rather than from) the French teachers that stay here).

Yours I understood everything you said perfectly - better than my ability.

So let's hear more about those French songs that became hits in the English language that Bowie/Brel link was cool as mustard!!! :-)

When Green Day got the guys out of the crowd for Operation Ivy at Milton Keynes, Billy Joe gave the kid the Gibson LP he played.  Jammy beggar!  The drummer got the drumsticks and the bassist got to crowd surf!

Guitar came out on top again I guess!

Glad ur ok mate, thought it sounded a bit gastro intestinal!  Have a free B chord on me cool

yeah, genius and self destruction seem to go hand in hand - if you think about it though, how interesting would it be if all the dead stars lived long enough to become mediocre?

This may seem like blasphemy to some people but how much mileage did Kurt Cobaine have in him?  Likewise Jimi Hendrix.  He invented a whole new concept of guitar playing but... a lot of his album stuff was incredibly self indulgent!

Thoughts?

Has anyone recently tried googling 'french military victories' hilarious!

I don't think there were any headliners - too many of them were huge in their own right!  I think Janis Joplin, The Who, Santana and Ten Years After were maybe the biggest.  Hendrix played in the daylight to a very small crowd by the looks of it and the Star Spangled Banner etc were played over a backdrop of some dedicated litterpickers!

The Grateful Dead played but wouldn't allow their set to be included in the film or album as they were terrible!  The reason for this was that the guitars gave them electric shocks as they played so dangerous?  I'd say so!

Or did i just make no sense at all?

Good question.  Look at the album 'American Idiot' by Green Day.  There isn't a bad song on there but if you listen to it, they're all powerful and moving.  Jesus of Suburia is lyrically amazing with music to back it up.  Wake Me Up When September Ends is a slow ballad, lyrically powerful and the emotion is backed up by the music which is nowhere near the tempo of Jesus but no less effective.

I guess it's in the song, not just 'It's got a good beat and you can dance to it!'.
