like bduffy said jazz is a good idea. jazz rock fusion is pretty cool to. also look into classical stuff, some of the music is really pretty plus the classical guys use some cool techniques too.

good luck!

AXE:ok hate to turn the forum into a debate board, but i think that the only reason people like the beatles is cuz of peer pressure, i mean tons of people say you cant be a rock musician if you dont like the beatles!! just cuz they were the "rock inventors or w/e. i personally tolerate them, although nowhere man and let it be are alright.

ROCKER:i could see ozzy as god, and rob zombie as jesus (he looks kinda like him)... but david lee roth?? a disciple?!?!? man i must be a frickin saint lol

STITCH:AMEN

man that sucks, wish i could help, but im in ohio. i guess the best thing you can do is tell em yuor goin solo and get a gig somewhere small. good luck

nice addition axe, i really like the two part harmony on that first line of the chorus. soem chords for this song and your good to go

cool way to be creative. no suggestions for the chorus though. but keep writing! even if the song you write completley sucks keep it cuz you might need it later. sometimes ill write a bunch of crappy songs, then use bits and peices of all of em and make a good song.

good luck

alright i know this isnt traditional or anything but father christmas by the kinks is awesome! my favorite traditional song is probably "chestnuts roasting over an open fire" like the other guy said. also if you ever get a chance to listen to the original alan lomax version of "rise up shepherd and follow" i reccomend it, especially if your really into folk music.

merry christmas!

totally! playing with a good drummer is so much better than a mentronome i also love how two guitars playing at the same time can accent eachother and come up with some cool stuff. the only problem with a band is that you might get stuck with some people who totally stink!

urgh all this time i just been playin regular chords, then you realize that if you want a quick stop or an easy slide to a different chord you must use them. is there an easy way to play them without practicing them over and over???

like karl said, their just combinations. the hard part is knowing where your fingers go. if you dont know where to put your fingers for split chords i recommend this site

GOOD LUCK!!!

the main point in an F, or any bar chord, is to use the side of ur index finger, not the fleshy part. its a lot easier once you play so many bar chords your finger caluses. but be careful, if ur a begginer ur fingers can uncalus, and u hav to start over again!!

GOOD LUCK!!

P.S. reading music gets easier the more you practice, just remember rythm matters more than note perfection, and watch those pesky ledger lines!
