Russell, does this mean that when I take a C-chord (not in barré) and move AND plug the strings were your fingers are, ending up in G.
Russ, maybe you can "compose" a little instrumental, to give an opportunity to listen? That should be the best way to show us.
Just an instrumental between 40 & 60 seconds.

glad to help keep in mind you can use that form of seeking anything on the web because it is basic and the key to locating imfomation is to condense your querry omit "is,are, how, where, what, when ect all non esential and space consuming, saves a lot of time and increases your chances of "bingo"ive got it

the chances of playing a song without any musical education even on the basic level are slim to none there are ecceptions but they are very rare you can shorten the timespan of playing a song you like by learning basic music theory chords time scales these are the esentials there are no shortcuts so i wish i could offer you better news but the fact is without learning the basics you could spend countless days learning what you could have learned in hours

if you are "walking up" to g the starting point has to be either an e minor,f major or d major the walkup begins on the root note of the chord your walking from and in bluegrass the chords are fingerpicked so it is possible to play a dmajor and walk the root up to gmajor while still holding the dmajor before you play the g you must play the whole or part of the gmajor chord its like voice leading you are generally playing a scale major or minor its a transistion to the next chord in this case g from a lower point see above

a dobro can be used on blues, country, folk, rock, hawaiian, any form of music the way its strummed depends on the form, you have a choice, you can put steel picks on your fingers(or plastic) and fingerpick it or use a pick and strum it.tunning is optional ie.drop d open c or tune it to an e,d,g,chord ect....

Hi
What's wrong with these strings?
Bought from ebay cheap called "West Coast"
I put them on my old Jumbo acoustic stretched and tuned them in fine.
Well I play a number of chords open and barred sounds odd not right. So retune (electronic tuner) try again it still sounds odd.
Anyway it seems I can change the pitch of the note depending on how hard I press the string down over the fret.
As pressure varies depending on how a song has to be played ie speed of chord changes etc it seems an impossibility to get the strings correctly tuned.
Never come across this before maybe the strings are cheap and you get what you pay for.
Anybody else experience this?
Thanks

Regards
Ark

i agree with zurf play what you like to play it will sound sincere and one thing an audience picks up on is if the entertainer loves his music or is content to pickup a paycheck
