i dont really suffer with feed-back any more, maybe it's because i play a lot quieter now. i put it down to using my Boss ME50. i turn that up to 3/4 vol then turn the amp vol down. the boss gives me the extra vol i need when soloing. you can also put it down to screening the guitar pick-ups properly and using good quality guitar leads.

it wont hurt your amp to play it though bigger capacity speakers. just make sure the ohm's match between amp and cab. eg if your amp is pushing out 16 ohms then it'll overheat possibly and blow. the ohm rating is the resistance of the coil within the speaker. the amp resistance is the force the amp pushes out the signal. so if your amp is pumping out 70 watts through 4 ohms, the speaker resistance will greatly reduce the power emitted by the speakers.

if your amp is a modern one, the chances are that it's a multi-ohm and will play normally between 4 and 32 ohms adjusting automatically. just check first.

i agree with bensonp but disagree with the funster. i also have many years in the retail trade selling directly to customers quite successfully. and i always worked to the premise that if the customer has very little knowledge of a product a good salesman will allow him to think he does and by the time he's bought it....he does and he thinks the salesman is his best friend.

i often got customers to pay their bill, which they were adamant that they wouldn't while offering me a cup of tea! just because i found some common ground. i must admit i was good at that job, but i lost interest.

i've been having trouble for a few weeks, i thought it might be my PC. i've cleaned out the temp files, and my PC defrags itself. chordie seems to be the only site it happens on. there are one or two other glitches, eg: when starting a new post, i'll be halfway though a sentence when the type line jumps up to the heading line, it's annoying but not to the point of throwing plates. anyone else get that?

yes, this is true, and i did pick this up but let it go as it was a new member asking for help.
we moderators all have our own ways of doing things and this was mine. i sent daisysam an email and informed him/her of the mistake in the hope that they wont make the same mistake again but remain an active member.

i had the option of having a GPS in my last 2 cars but turned them down. at home, it seems i have a great sense of direction, it's when we're abroad i get lost, so the wife takes over, not driving, mind you, walking! it has nothing at all to do with those scantily clad young ladies, honest!

i may be rong but isnt that what the chordie editors are for? if you spot a mistake you can correct it? obviously having to work through a piece methodically to find the correct word or chord to help others not just yourself is beyond your scope which in turn disqualifies you from chordie membership.
