I don't need convincing smile

I was looking mainly at a G&L ASAT classic, just wondered if there were any other decent makes?

I'm going to bump this thread as I'm looking at at buying a Tele myself, I've even got full backing from the wife smile

Question is, who makes a good Tele?  I know that Fender and G&L ( dearly like one of their lineup ) produce some good kit, but are there any other makes out there that do the business?

Cheers

That's not a bad idea, dino, I'm no stranger to a hammer and nails, it might be worth a go.  Cheers, good suggestion.

Hi folks,

I struggling to find a hard case for my Gretsch G5122DC, I don't really have the opportunity to pop into my local shop so I'm looking online. It doesn't have to be fancy as it's only for storage at home (ie cheap).  Anyone know of any cases that would fit?

Cheers muchly

Sshhhh, tempt me not.  smile

Might as well add my bit too:

1) Seagull S6 Acoustic, this will soon be up for selling as it's really too big for me.
2) Vintage v100 Lemon Drop, lovely little mover.
3) Gretsch G5122DC, shiny shiny shiny.
4) Squier Strat in bits, potential project.

Cheers

Cheers for the advice dguyton, it's a guitar I very much enjoy, I'll get to modding at some point but it's just so shiny at the moment.  I refer to it as 'my Precious'.

I'll have a look at the Gretsch pages, ta.

The chap would have been happy to post it but I didn't want to risk it, so I did a little drive down the M4 from South Wales to Heathrow to pick it up but at least it's all in one piece and I had a chance to make sure all was well with it.

Absolutely sound advice, I've got a local shop and it's there that I got my hands on a Gretsch 5122 and it was just lovely, totally works for me. I'd love a strat at some point but every time I pick one up they just don't work for me, so I think it's best if they stay in the shop  sad

I'll be putting some flatwound strings on it before to long and will need to get it properly set up as the chap that was selling had only had it 3 weeks from new (he didn't warm to the guitar).

Well, it's done.

Tonight I pick up my new toy, a Gretsch G5122 in walnut.  I'll probably get home about midnight, tired but happy.

Cheers all for your thoughts, I wouldn't mind getting hold of an epi dot to have a play with and if I could pick one up cheap then who knows.  I think my long term aim will be to get the Gretsch g5122 though.
I mean, you pick it up and you never want to put it back down...   smile

I didn't know that about the 5122, always happy to pick up new info, cheers.

To play devils advocate, I see quite a few people are happy with the Ibanez Artcore range, I thoughts on those folks?

Tbh, I'm still leaning towards the Gretsch though.

So, I've kinda fallen for a Gretsch G5122dc, managed to have a little play with one and the thing sounds lovely.
But I don't want to ignore other brands out there and, unfortunately, my local music shop only has Gretschs.
Can anyone else suggest any decent contenders for about the same price or less (£500), I'm only really looking at double cutaways at the mo (currently have a LP copy, which is nice but...)

Cheers

Don't rule out some of the JHS vintage guitars, very solid bits of kit and a good price too.  I have V100 Lemon Drop and it's a lovely.

Ta muchly, I had seen that one about, like to get to a dealer and have a play with one.

I got lucky with my acoustic, a chap I knew wanted to offload his old guitar which a happily bought, after looking around I found it was a Seagull V6 worth a lot more than a paid for it. The sound on it is very good and it is a very versatile guitar, the only down side is that the action is a little too high for me.
Thinking of getting a vintage semi....

Hiya, got myself a Vintage V100 Peter Green, I have to say it's blinking lovely and plays like a dream.
The build quality is very good, it looks the part and the sound is just...  I'll stop now.
You get a lot of bang for your buck with the V100, although I'd stay away from the black or white ones as they will never be as good as a gibby.
Even had one chap say it was far better than his Epiphone...

I had a Squier strat which I never really jelled with so I got myself a JHS vintage V100 (Peter Green lemon drop) and I haven't put it down yet.  I've even had chaps prefer it to their Epiphones!
Still, try out a few, see if there's one right for you.  That's what I did.

Cheers

Hi folks, hope this isn't a stupid question...

I noticed there is a section at the end of each song for a video to be uploaded, which is extremely useful for looking a a strum pattern etc.  (Mad World - Tears for Fears)  But I was wondering if there was a way for searching for which songs had this video support?

Cheers for reading.
