I tried. I cannot post pics.

Wow, that's a nice looking guitar!! How do those pickups sound? Are they gold foil (as some guitars were in the 60's)?
Cheers
Richard
The same thing. Except for the modern set of tuning keys. The old one`s were junk. 4 had plastic knobs. Two were chrome. They wouldn`t turn anyways.
A nice new set of chrome Gotoh tuners fixed that. It sounds and plays good. The new tuners are so smooth. A big difference.

Back in 2017. I bought a 1969 Teisco Del Ray tulip guitar for $75.00.
It sat for over 7 years. I decided to try and fix it and see what happens. The tuners were seized up. I was afraid of cracking the headstock drilling out the holes for the tuners. I didn`t even know if the electronics were any good. A new set of tuners, Some cleaning and strings brought it back to life.
Now I have another electric to add to my arsenal.

Just an acoustic set with our bass player Paul as drummer Jim is on tour with another band in europe for a short while . Will post a vid soon when I can extract it from my wifes i phone
I`m supposed to be getting together with other players soon myself. Starting tomorrow.
Warm weather is coming. I love being outside. I`ve played with other`s at different times. Some say I`m hard to work with. Some say I`m easy. I`ll have to see how it goes.
I did play some sober open mic`s. It went well. Those are gone. The meeting house closed.
Obviously. I don`t have the energy I did a few years ago. Partly from health issues. Partly from just plain getting old. I`m still at it all the time.

Congrats Joey- good to hear you are dong much better.
Did you cut back on the Bread Machines as well ?
I was just thinking last night about all the people that used to participate in the forum.
I miss Mojo (Joe B.) as well - loved his Texan drawl and great songs !
Take care, stop by often
Jim
Did you cut back on the Bread Machines as well ?
The bread machine got damaged when I hit the brakes in my car one day. It`s gone now. It does live on in pictures.
There used to be a lot of traffic here. Those days are gone.
I don`t see much going on here lately. So I`m just saying hi to everyone.
To those I know personally. I got a stable bill of health. Not a clean bill of health. Far from it. I`m good with stable. Especially after what I was told over two years ago. You won`t ever see me drinking again.
Oh well. Self inflicted pain deserves no sympathy. .
I did have one good friend tell me that my attitude is what saved me. I told him I wanted to die sober. Then I changed my mind. I told him I wanted to live sober. I was good about the whole situation. Didn`t blame other`s. Kept a sense of humour about it.
I`m still around. Not 100%. Still holding my own. Still irritating Chris. We`re still together.
See some of you sometime this year.
I had close to 50 at one time. Most were bought before the pandemic.
I`m down to 28 now. The values went up during the pandemic. I was able to sell the ones I did at a profit. Sometimes over 100%.
So I was able to get higher quality equipment a lot cheaper.
Last example. A Taylor 510 for $700 out of my pocket, It was on sale for $1200. I had the other $500 with the money selling guitars that cost me $700 total.
Phill Williams wrote:I wish I had the skill and patience to build guitars an amps. Well done to those who can, you have my admiration.
Building may be the wrong word. Putting together may be more appropriate. Taking existing parts I have and matching them up. Parts that I find cheap. I will make a self contained amp out of them.
In other words. I don`t take a bunch of tubes, capacitors and wires and build a chassis out of them.
My latest spare time project. An old 12" General Electric Hi Fi extension speaker I found cheap. Plenty of room inside the cabinet to mount the head from another amp. Or I may cut the cabinet down and make it smaller. I`m pretty good at finding cheap amps at flea markets or antique shops. Amps with damaged cabinets. Blown speakers.
I`ve made 3 already. There is a certain satisfaction from making a working amp cheap. From parts other`s consider junk.
neophytte wrote:joeyjoeyjoey wrote:At one point. I had well over 40 in my arsenal . Maybe over 50. I lost count. I`m DOWN to 28 now.
I hear you - I did a "collection" photo around the same time Covid hit, and I knew I had a few, but was surprised I crept close to 30 - my collection includes some rare and expensive (well, they are now) guitars, but you can't play them all at once, nor can you take them with you.
I've sold a couple, and haven't bought anymore, but I must admit I find it hard to part with pieces which I have an emotional attachment, which is most of them ...
Cheers
Richard
I did get the ones I always wanted. Gibson Les Paul. Gretsch White Falcon. Harmony Rocket. Mesa Boogie amp.
When my time is up. My daughter will get them all. With the condition that she keeps certain ones. The rest. She can do what she wants with.
My guilty pleasure now is making amp setups from cheap parts. It takes time to find the parts. When I do get them. I put them together.
Example. An old Bell & Howell projector speaker and a cheap little amp from Amazon. I built a self contained amp that runs on two 6 volt flashlight batteries or AC power. For less than $100. Another I built for less than $20 years ago. Another I have all the parts for. I just have to get around to putting it all together.

great to hear life is looking good for ya,would love to hear more about your music tastes and playing.
of course whenever i say this to anyone on here i never get a reply, but it would be nice to be surprised.
My tastes vary from one extreme to the other. Depending on my mood that day.
People are amazed when they look through my binders. I did meet with a singer last month. She was amazed at the different variety of songs in one book.
My playing is mediocre. Simple. Some people get impressed. Some don`t. I`ve been told I play well with others.
My singing ??? My voice is a combination of a pack of Marlboro and Jack Daniels poured in a broken dirty glass. Anyone here who has met me in person can testify to that. I did a lot of damage to myself with my bad recreational habits.
Haven`t posted in a while.
Anyone that knows me from here or in person. They knew I may have had a slight addiction to buying guitars.
At one point. I had well over 40 in my arsenal . Maybe over 50. I lost count. I`m DOWN to 28 now.
Covid helped. The value on a lot of them went up. What did I do?? I consigned them and worked my way up to better equipment. My latest was a Taylor 510. A year ago. For $700 out of my pocket. The price I paid for the guitars I sold. Sometimes I just took the money. I`ve sold a few amps too.
After getting a rude awakening over 2 years ago. I realized a few things. I can`t take them with me. They`re not replacing anything. Or anyone. My house was getting overrun.
Some are in my music room. Some in my daughter`s room. She is married and has her own house now.
I have the one`s I always wanted. I have 3 pieces I`ve had over 40 years. Those aren`t going anywhere.
Myself. I`ve been sober for two and a half years. I cheated death. Got my head a lot clearer.
I have a lot more room in my house now. With a lot less guitars.
Glad to see things are going your way.
hoping it continues
Wishing everyone a happy and great new year
To those I have seen this year and in the past. See you next year.
I`m confident enough to think it will happen again. I`m already making up a new songbook for 2025.
Once again. Happy New Year and have a drink for me.
I haven`t been here in a long time.
I`m probably forgotten or new to other`s here.
Seen better days. Still alive and kicking.
I don`t post it on Facebook because news travels fast in my family.
I managed to hit one year`s sobriety yesterday.
My bad recreational habits finally caught up to me last year. After doing some major damage to myself. I think I learned my lesson.
Except for "Enjoy Every Sandwich"
When I see my favourite quotes under this article. I have to ask myself. How did that work out for you??
Dock of the bay/ Otis Redding
Meet me in Memphis/ Jimmy Buffett
Daydream? The Lovin` Spoonful
Most people that I converse with.
They fret about every little thing. What good does it do??
Beatles
Gibson
Jazz
70s
Neither
I`m still around.
Dealing with some little health issues. A few people here know what`s going on.
Let`s just say :Self inflicted pain deserves no sympathy". Lol.
Yes, I have a sense of humour about it.
I haven`t contributed for awhile.
I still read the post`s every few days.
Phill Williams wrote:I have 7 guitars, 2 bass guitars, 2 keyboards and loads of pedals and P.A. equipment. My wife keeps nagging me to sell the stuff I'm not using, as I've retired from gigging, but I have the excuse that I may go back to gigging again, one day! I still love to sit in my studio looking at them hanging on the wall and taking them down from time to time to clean or tune or exercise my fingers for a few minutes. What else is there after retirement TV, go drinking?
I have close to 40 guitars. One bass. Around 12 amps. I will need to get rid of some. It isn`t financial reasons why I`m doing it.
I`ll just say that my bad recreational habits caught up to me.
Due to extenuating circumstances. I am thinking about selling a lot of guitars and amps.
Thinking about it. It doesn`t mean that I will. There are a few that I will hold onto and leave to my daughter. Around 4 or 5 and whatever else she wants to keep. One amp.
Bad idea?? They`re not getting much use. Even less now.
Should I keep them or sell ??
I hope we`re not getting a repeat of 2016
Merry Christmas to everyone here from Auburn, Mass. A very cold Auburn.
Hoping for more Christmases to come.
I have some little things going on. Haven`t really done much of anything
