Nice pics of the winter wonderland. I have relatives on Cayuga Lake.

I'm rather found of the second one. The one with the sign that says ARCTIC something or other. Can't quite make out the second word. It's quite appropriate driving down a snow covered street.

We don't have a lake but the pond is frozen solid enough to walk on.

10F this morning. 3"-6" of snow coming at us today so I'll be going out to plow later on. There's a chance we may actually get above freezing tomorrow if the sun pokes through the clouds. It's been awhile.

my wife has "loaned" me a couple of metal bread pans

Something I should have mentioned.

If these are pans she is fond of using, you'll want to be VERY careful with them. Most people have calcium in their water. The amount varies wildly. If you let the pans go dry, you're going to have a layer of the stuff on the bottom of the pan that gets as hard as concrete. And believe me, it will slip your mind sooner or later; or one will dry up overnight because you forgot to fill it before you went to bed.
You might want to consider going to a Goodwill or some other type of thrift store and picking a couple cheap pots. The ones I use were part of a 50 cent, auction box lot.

Congrats on the new addition.

Mine are all grown up but way back when, I would play:

The Unicorn - the Irish Rovers

Ripple/Brokedown Palace - Garcia/Hunter

I've Got a Name - Jim Croce

Country Road - John Denver

There were a handful of kids songs in there as well. Wheels on the Bus, Down by the Bay, etc. I pulled them from a  Raffi songbook.

What kind of heat do you have?

We have heated exclusively with wood for 9 years now. Early on, I never gave humidity a thought until I picked up a weather station at an auction. I quickly discovered just how dry it was in the house. Like you, I was in the 30-35% area but I was too cheap to spend money on an electric humidifier. smile

We use a fireplace insert most of the time but when we have long spells of sub-freezing temps, which we've had for 6 weeks now, it can't keep up so we fire up a small box stove in the back room. I use the old tried and true method of a pot of water on each stove. They evaporate around 3 gallons a day into the air. That raises the humidity to between 45-48% in a 1200sf house. I just can't seem to reach that 50% mark.

I don't know if any of this helps you. If you use oil or gas fired hot air, probably not. If you have a hot water boiler with radiators, you could put a pot of water on each one and it should raise your moisture level to more acceptable levels.

Does OM have more than one of those buggies? If not then the accident happened about 10 miles from me. It was on the local news.

We get winters like that ever 10-12 years. Last one was '07-'08 so I guess we're due soon.

13F right now. We're on the northern edge of Zurf's storm. Might see 2"

We started out with 4F this morning. Made it all the way up to 12F with a lovely 15mph breeze. Forecast is for -5F overnight tonight.

Got both wood stoves running for this crap.

NELA, what a excellent idea,for a 12 string section!

Agreed.

I got my first 12 string in, I believe it was '87. For the next 2 years that's all I played when I wasn't touring.  I could never bring myself to taking it on the road.

I just pulled it out a few weeks ago when I decided to sell a few guitars. I was evaluating which ones I was going to keep. Just couldn't bear to part with my first 12er. Being 25 years since I last played it, I had forgotten how much difference there is. I have some work to do. roll

I have 2 mandolin's. If they're counted, that makes 10 stringed instruments for me as well.

Roger

That's what I have unless I count the classical I loaned to my sister 15 years ago.

It's almost enough for me but I want to add 1 more this summer; a high end acoustic. I have to make a trip to the GC and play a few before I make up my mind.

Hi!  Please check this thread:  http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=27009

There are details explaining how possibly your antivirus software or an ad blocking extension might be blocking advertisements and therefore messing up the website layout.  There's also a photo reference to check to see if your page is displaying ads properly.  Admin is currently working on this, but we need to know if it's the fact that ad's are being blocked causing a layout issue, or if it's something else.  So, we'd really appreciate it if you could review that thread and let us know there if you're still seeing issues after a little ad blocking troubleshooting.  smile  Thanks!

Sure enough! For me anyway. that's what was causing it,

i use ableton as a DAW, each time i go to record a new track i have to go to the track input and select where the sound is coming from eg mic or your interface and also which inputs they are coming from eg 1- 2. 3-4 etc. i think it should be the same or similar in reaper or audacity. give it a try unless you've already tried and failed in which case....sorry

phill

I use Acoustica Mixcraft V6 for doing stuff for myself at home. I'm actually having trouble with the input levels on that as well. That's a different problem though. It used to work right but with all the fiddling I've done, I think it's just a matter of figuring out which switch I flipped to cause the problem and flip it back.

But Jamkazam is a separate entity altogether and I only allow one at a time to run otherwise they would be fighting for control of the sound. It's designed to allow folks to play online in real time and it works for a lot of people. Just doesn't wanna work for me. roll To be fair though, I'm not the only one having trouble as evidenced by the chatter on their forum.

I have played with the input selection. I only have 3 choices; the built-in computer mic, which I disabled, the mic jack on the front of the computer and the usb interface. JK just released an update so I need to load that. Then I'll see if it made any difference.

Thanks for your input. Every little bit gives me another avenue to explore. smile
