Topic: Acoustic/Electric Question

My son just purchased a Martin and gave me his Oscar Schmidt.
Right now I am using a karaoke machine for an amp.He said not to buy anything till after Christmas.
    My question is "What is the Presence knob for?" I hear no difference in sound when I move it.

It boosts frequencies around the 4000 to 6000 Hz range. It's designed to boost vocals by increasing some of their higher harmonics.
