Topic: An Economic What Turn

This is a song I wrote with some good advise from friend Neil Cotton.
Kind of a loud country Hank Williams Jr ranting song.

An Economic What TurnUndefined


[E]I'm a simple man and I live a simple plan.


[E]I've worked hard making money all my [B7]life.


[B7]I got three girls and a boy, and my wife is self employed.


[B7]So as long as I keep working there's no [E]strife.


[E]Then my boss called me in, at the factory where I been.


[E]I've got to let you go he smirked and [B7]said.


[B7]That this economic downturn has me thinking in the long term.


[B7]So I'd rather keep my profits up in[E]stead.




I screamed,


An economic [A]what-turn.


Are you [E]kicking me out the door?


A dirty stinking [A]what-turn.


Ain't no [B7]loyalty here no more!




[E]I gotta find a job, I ain't livin like a slob.


[E]And my wife and kids rely on me each [B7]day.


[B7]My girls all need their bling and my boy wants everything


[B7]And my wife demands a new dress come her [E]way.


[E]So I fill out resumes in jumble and a daze.


[E]But no one now is hiring, they've all [B7]said.


[B7]That this economic downturn has us thinking in the long term.


And we gotta keep our profits up in[E]stead.




I scream,

[E]He said the time is tough and that my profits ain't enough.

[B7]But this economic downturn is alive and it's a slow burn.


And I'm sorry but that's all I've got to [E]say.

Hi buvvy, It's a touchy situation out there and I didn't want to write something that would offend somebody caught trapped because of the way things are. I tried to write it hoping the humor would out weigh the topic.

Yes kapa i got the humour in your piece.

I also got the underlined frustration.  This could be our Anthem here at the moment.
Work can be burdensome at times, but a whole different story when you have none.
My own worry here now is not having flowers flown in for weddings coming up. Yikes !  It will be silk
ones, if i have no other choices.

Good writing as always..  RECORD SIR. I have Billy Walker worn out. lol

I think this one could span the spectrum from Heavy Metal to Country Twang.

I don't know...I betcha you got the talent in there somewhere. I was always smoking in the boys room myself and failed miserably at everything else.
If they had a class called Imagination 101 I do believe I would have aced it. lol
