Topic: Little Yellow Skirts

Little Yellow SkirtsA song in praise of summer tomatoes

Quickly, in bluegrass style...

[G]Pull off those little yellow [C]skirts...

See those green tiny-hinies [G]shine.

All the best from this blue [D]earth...

Taste the [D7]sweetness off the vine.[G] [C] [G]

Turn the Earth and raise 'em [C]up...[C7]

Water deep and let it [G]flow.

Salty sweetness with a [D]burst...

Never fails to bring a [G]glow.[G7]

[G]Cherokees and Brandy-[C]wines...

Never fail to satis-[G]fy.

Plump and round that shiny [D]skin...

[D7]Always leaves me with a grin.[G] [C] [G]

Tongue in cheek with fruit in [C]hand...[C7]

Summer's sweetness from the [G]land.

Use your hands and dig your [D]ground...

That's where satisfaction's [G]found![G7]

Repeat to your hearts content...  and take it out on G major on your last repeat.

Re: Little Yellow Skirts

Thank-you.

You wouldn't happen to play banjo would you?

I'm hearing banjo (in my head) while I'm singing and playing on my acoustic guitar.

Re: Little Yellow Skirts

sorry, not a banjo man.   What strum pattern do you use on this song ?

Re: Little Yellow Skirts

Remember the song Yakkety-Yak  (Don't Talk Back)?

I'm singing it around that speed.  I'm getting my buddy, (pro musician) to show me bluegrass roll-offs on the guitar.

So far, whenever I'm jammin' out solo, I just keep a rhythm kinda' like Yakkety-Yak (Don't Talk Back), singing with a bluegrass feel.

The second time through I sing the first stanza in double-time up against the same type strumming on the guitar that I've been playing all along; just double-time without a breath between the phrases.

When I get video and/or a sound recording with my friend, I'll post it up for all to see.

In the meantime, if you, or anyone else would like to contribute verses or an additional chorus, I'd find it quite enjoyable to work in that type of a collaborative manner.
